Confirms the Werkself the dream start at home strong wolves?

With 19 out of a possible 21 points, Bayer 04 Leverkusen not only sails from first place in the table after seven match days, but also put the best Bundesliga start in the club’s history on the floor. The Rhinelanders have already scored 23 goals (the highest number in the league) and, with only six goals conceded, have the second-best defense behind Frankfurt (five). Accordingly, the tip for Wolfsburg against Leverkusen is for an away win for the Werkself.

However, the current leaders are now hosting a team that has been extremely strong at home so far. VfL Wolfsburg have won all three of their Bundesliga home games so far in the 2023/24 season, scoring a total of 6:1 goals. Wolfsburg’s forecast for a three-goal win over Leverkusen is correspondingly risky, even though the Rhinelanders are unbeaten in seven games at the Volkswagen Arena (five wins, two draws).

Overall, Bayer Leverkusen have yet to go unbeaten in all ten of their competitive matches in the 2023/24 season (nine wins, one draw), something the team last managed to do at the start of the 1995/96 season. Meanwhile, there have never been nine wins in the first ten competitive games since the Rhinelanders were first promoted to the Bundesliga in 1979. Nevertheless, in our eyes there is a touch too much risk in tip 2.

The bigger value, however, is the bet that both teams will score in this top match on Saturday afternoon.

Wolfsburg – Statistics & current form

VfL Wolfsburg squandered both the Europa League and Conference League with three defeats from their last four league games of the 2022/23 season. As eighth in the final table, the Lower Saxons were thus the best-placed club in the Bundesliga for which it did not go into international show business.

The main objective for the new season is to return to the top third of the table so that European soccer can once again be played in the Volkswagen Arena for the 2024/25 season. After seven match days, the Wolves are halfway on course to achieve this goal.

Nine points out of a possible nine from the three home games so far

Twelve points out of a possible 21 means seventh place in the current tableau, with leaders Bayer Leverkusen already seven points behind. While Niko Kovac’s team won all three home games of the 2023/24 season with 6:1 goals, only three of twelve possible points were recorded away from home.

However, if Wolfsburg’s home winning streak continues and their bet on a home win against Leverkusen pans out, they could theoretically jump into the top six, which they could then consolidate in subsequent league games against Augsburg, Bremen and Gladbach against teams against whom VfL would probably always be favorites as things stand.

Winless in seven Bundesliga home games against Leverkusen

The Wolfsburg side will be looking to build on their strong home defense. In their own stadium, only one goal has been allowed in three Bundesliga home games this season. Now, however, VfL must defend against the Bundesliga’s strongest offense at the moment, which is likely to be a difficult task.

Historically, the team from Lower Saxony has also had a hard time against the Werkself in their own stadium. The Wolves have not won any of their last seven Bundesliga home games against the Rhinelanders (two draws, five defeats), with the Green-Whites failing to score more than one of their own in any of their last five home games against Leverkusen.

Predicted Wolfsburg lineup:

Leverkusen – statistics & current form

Bayer 04 Leverkusen got off to the best start to the Bundesliga season in the club’s history and leads the Bundesliga table after seven games with 19 out of a possible 21 points. Thus, the Werkself under Xabi Alonso seamlessly continued the strong preseason, in which the journey not only went to the semifinals of the Europa League, but also to sixth place in the final table after a botched Bundesliga start.

The Rhinelanders have not lost any of their first ten competitive games (nine wins, one draw), are on target in all three competitions and also lead the Europa League table with six points and 6:1 goals from two games.

First six goals conceded from seven league games

The Werkself’s dream start is particularly impressive because the Bundesliga already included complicated games against reigning DFB Cup winners RB Leipzig (3-2) and reigning champions Bayern Munich (2-2).

It is true that the Rhinelanders conceded two goals in each of the two games. In total, however, just six goals have been conceded after seven league games. That makes Bayer 04 the second-best defensive team in the Bundesliga behind Eintracht Frankfurt (five goals conceded).

The best offense in the Bundesliga

Not only has Alonso’s eleven been very stable defensively, though, but their soccer has also looked extremely convincing going forward so far. With 23 goals, Bayer even provides the best offense in the entire Bundesliga.

Accordingly, the odds are favorable for Wolfsburg against Leverkusen not only to prolong the Werkself’s unbeaten streak at the Volkswagen Arena, but also for this match to be potentially high-scoring. After all, with three in-form key players in Victor Boniface, who is already on seven goals, Jonas Hofmann, who has scored in his last three league games, and Florian Wirtz, who has provided 24 assists in 84 Bundesliga games, a tremendous offensive punch should be unleashed once again.

Predicted Leverkusen lineup:

Wolfsburg – Leverkusen Direct comparison / H2H balance

Head to head: 21 – 10 – 24

There have been a total of 55 meetings between the two teams so far and with 24 wins the Werkself leads the direct comparison by a narrow margin. The Volkswagen Arena in particular has been a good place for the Rhinelanders recently, who have picked up 17 of a possible 21 points from their last seven visits to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga (five wins, two draws).

Wolfsburg – Leverkusen tip

Wolfsburg vs. Leverkusen betting odds are going in the direction of the visiting team, which not only takes into account the impressive form of the Werkself, but also the fact that in none of the last 14 Bundesliga duels between the two clubs did the home team win. It should be noted, however, that the Wolves have won all three of their home games in the 2023/24 season, scoring 6:1 goals, and also got off to a very good start, especially in front of a home crowd.

In principle, we think the bet on the Werkself’s next three-goal win is playable. Nevertheless, in Wolfsburg against Leverkusen, our prediction goes to bet on goals on both sides, which on the one hand does justice to the good form of both teams and on the other hand does not exclude the home victory, or point win of the home-strong Lower Saxons.
