A week of sun and vacation awaits the Italian player, who ran into Zverev on the plane: this year, he’s beaten him 4 out of 4 times

The 2025 tennis season, which saw Italy win the Davis Cup, has come to a close. At least as far as the major circuit and the top players are concerned. The last of them to take the court—in Saturday’s Davis Cup semifinal victory (which his German team ultimately lost) against Spain’s Munar—was Alexander Zverev. After the defeat, the world No. 3, who played in 24 tournaments this season, immediately headed off on vacation. He’s headed to the Maldives in search of sunshine and warm weather, as evidenced by an Instagram story featuring a special guest: “I guess it’s Maldives season for everyone, huh?” with two laughing emojis. Sinner is set to begin his winter training leading up to 2026—which for him will kick off with the Australian Open (starting January 18)—in early December in Dubai. He’ll take a couple of weeks off following the ATP Finals—including this one—before getting back to work to prepare as best as possible for the upcoming season. He ran into Zverev on the plane, and the German—who has an excellent relationship with Jannik (despite losing to him 4 out of 4 times in 2025)—seized the opportunity for a fun social media post. He, too, is set to enjoy a period of rest before resuming training for the upcoming season, which in his case will begin a couple of weeks earlier than the Italian’s. Zverev will, in fact, take part in the United Cup, a mixed team competition that awards ranking points, and is expected to play his first official match of 2026 as early as January 4.
