Dutiful task for the ‘Colchoneros’!

The home side already picked up what they consider to be the most important home win of the season last week, beating their nemesis Real 3-1 in the “Derbi madrileno”! Now it’s time for Atletico Madrid against Cadiz – we present our tips and odds.

In the current “English week” in La Liga, the home side recorded the next three points after their success in the city duel last Thursday with a 2-0 win away to Osasuna in Pamplona. Thanks to the result, the “Colchoneros” now occupy fifth place in the table.

Other than that, the hosts have a busy schedule. Next week, the second round of the Champions League is already on the agenda with another home match against Dutch champions Feyenoord Rotterdam. As lightweights in the league, the visitors will not have to cope with a double burden of this kind.

Atletico Madrid – Statistics & current form

Atletico seem to enjoy the result of a 3:1. Already the first home match this season against Granada ended in this amount. Overall, the start to the new season in domestic league play is also something to be proud of.

With the exception of the surprising 0:3 defeat at Valencia, Madrid were convincing. After two third-place finishes in the last two editions of La Liga, the chances of reaching the top again are therefore not bad for the moment.

Attack acts efficiently

The fact that the attack, among other things, is already at operating temperature could be observed not only in the aforementioned derby win against Real, but also before. Rayo Vallecano, for example, were humiliated 7:0 away from home in the “small” city duel. Alvaro Morata scored two goals in the resounding victory.

The 30-year-old is also in good form in other respects. He already has five goals after six league appearances! On top of that, he also scored a brace in the particularly prestigious derby against Real last weekend. Now, however, he has to miss out as he was sent off in the last league game.

Will Griezmann strike again?

With this in mind, betting odds on Antoine Griezmann to score in the match between Atletico Madrid and Cadiz are also worth considering. The Frenchman is in a rising form after initial difficulties. This can be seen in his goals in the last two league games.

In addition, the current personnel situation in the attack of the “Indios” speaks for the prediction. In addition to the suspended Morata, another powerful attacker, Memphis Depay, is not fully fit at the moment and has recently only been substituted from the bench or was completely absent. This makes Griezmann particularly important in the attack.

Predicted line-up of Atletico Madrid:
Oblak – Molina – Gimenez – Witsel – Hermoso – Lino – Niguez – Koke – Llorente – Riquelme – Griezmann

Cadiz – Statistics & current form

The 14th-placed team in the Spanish top flight last season is currently once again in similar realms of the table. At the moment, the players from the Nuevo Mirandilla are in ninth place. For the visiting team of coach Sergio Gonzalez, however, this is “business as usual”: Since promotion in 2020, they have always finished in double figures.

There is room for improvement in the offensive performance: Only Las Palmas scores less than the Andalusians in La Liga! On the other hand, this is not surprising when you look at the squad in this part of the team.

Theo Bongonda, a solid attacker, left before the season. He had previously spent two seasons with Genk in the Belgian Jupiler League with a double-digit goal tally.

Is Gomez an update for the attack?

Further questionable is whether Trabzonspor newcomer Maxi Gomez will help. The striker has been over his zenith for some time. Although the Uruguayan is only 27 years old, he has not been able to match his early career, when he scored double-digit goals for Celta Vigo and Valencia, for several seasons now.

With his new employer, Gomez has not yet scored a goal. Chris Ramos may be a bright spot offensively. The Spaniard has scored in two of the last four league games for the Yellow-Blue team.

No more than two goals in the course of a game?

With the home side now also likely to be conserving their attacking energies due to their current slate of domestic and international fixtures, the prediction of no more than two goals in Atletico Madrid’s clash with Cadiz is also worth a recommendation. Quotes for the additional prediction are available at Betano, among others.

Predicted line-up of Cadiz:
Ledesma – Fali – Hernandez L. – Hernandez J. – Carcelen – Machis – Alcaraz – Escalante – Alejo – Gomez – Marti

Atletico Madrid – Cadiz Direct comparison / H2H-balance

Madrid won the last duel last May clearly with 5:1 in front of their own fans. Not a new pattern: a review of the last 34 years reveals only one win for the visitors in this pairing (1-4-11).

Atletico Madrid – Cadiz Tip

The visiting “Submarino Amarillo” is already living up to its name: As ninth, it tends to dive in terms of success in La Liga, as it has done in recent years. Now they are hosting one of the top teams in the league.

The home side defeated none other than Real Madrid in their last home game. In the duel between Atletico Madrid and Cadiz, betting on a home win to nil seems promising.

The unimpressive offensive of the visitors and the strong defence of the hosts speak in favour of this. With five goals conceded, they have the best record in this ranking in La Liga. In addition, the Madrilenians conceded three goals alone in their only blackout of the season so far at Valencia.

It is also to be expected that the home side will want to control the match, especially defensively. Due to the double burden of the Champions League, Atletico will want to use as little energy as possible in the match for a three-goal win and will probably manage the result after an expected opening goal.

The chances of a goal by the visitors will of course not be increased by this probable match plan of Atletico coach Simeone. The prediction is backed up by the statistics: in Cadiz’s eight visits to Atletico in the last 34 years, the majority of the team from the south of the country have failed to score (5) and have only scored three goals in total!
