Will the Hornets stop the Gunners’ winning streak?

Seven teams currently have to worry a lot about staying in the Premier League. Among those teams is Watford Football Club, who host the gunners from London this weekend. The promoted team has its back to the wall and urgently needs points to get out of the bottom of the table. But at home to Vicarage Road, that’s not going to happen at all.

The visitors are a different story, as they have shown decent form in recent weeks and have shot into the international starting places thanks to a short series without defeat. Against the relegation candidates, this winning streak should not be broken and with a victory, even the jump to one of the Champions League places is possible.

The greater pressure is certainly on the shoulders of the home side in this match. It is still tight in the lower regions of the table, but if the Black and Yellows continue to score so poorly in their own stadium, it will be very difficult to stay in the relegation zone. Kick-off on Sunday is at 15:00. Will the Hornets succeed in stopping the negative spiral?

Watford – Statistics & current form

How the images do look alike. Two years ago the Hornets formed the bottom of the table together with Norwich and were relegated from the Premier League. Both teams were promoted again immediately, but the current table situation is once again the same as the season before last.

After 26 match days, the Hornets have collected just 19 points and thus occupy 19th place. Once again, it is only Norwich City who are still positioned behind the black and yellows. They are currently only three points away from the safety net, but as the teams ahead of Watford still have to play catch-up games, this could still change for the worse.

Watford with improved defence

Roy Hodgson is the Hornets’ third coach on the sidelines this season. He is supposed to use his experience to ensure that the team stays in the league. The first successes can be seen. In the six games under his leadership, the hosts have managed a clean sheet three times. Nevertheless, the Black and Yellows still have the third-worst defence with 47 goals conceded.

The offensive situation is just as bleak. The opposing keeper has only been overcome 25 times. Under the direction of the new coach, his team has only scored twice. Far too few if they want to stay in the Premier League. Emmanuel Dennis is the Hornets’ top scorer with nine goals

The Hornets with seven home defeats in a row

The most worrying thing has to be the abysmal home record. They have lost ten of their last twelve games at home to Vicarage Road, including the last seven in a row. It is therefore hardly surprising that the bookmakers are not predicting a win for the home side in the match between Watford and Arsenal. The odds are 6.50 at the top.

Last weekend, Hodgson’s side earned a surprising 0-0 draw at Manchester United. It was one of the few highlights, apart from the 1-0 win at Aston Villa, for the Hornets in recent weeks. At least the commitment at Watford FC seems to fit. The Hornets led the way with 2982 tackles so far, more than any other team in the league.

Predicted Watford line-up:
Foster – Kamara, Samir, Cathcart, Kiko – Sissoko, Louza, Cleverley – Sarr, King, Dennis

Arsenal – Statistics & current form

Last season, the Gunners narrowly missed out on the international starting places. That should not happen again this year. A place in the Champions League is the desired goal and the Gunners are on a good path. It will certainly benefit them in the final phase of the season that the Red and Whites can concentrate fully on this competition.

The Gunners have three more detentions

Currently, head coach Mikel Arteta’s side are only sixth in the table with 45 points, but the Londoners still have three more games to play than the teams ahead of them, West Ham and Manchester United. If the catch-up games go well, the Gunners will at least jump to fourth place and a Champions League spot.

The Red and Whites will no longer be able to take part in the battle for the championship, as the competition from Liverpool and the Citizens are already too far away. In the match between Watford and Arsenal, betting on the visitors brings odds of 1.60 on the betting slip.

Arsenal are undefeated for four games

The visitors got themselves into a good starting position by a series of four games without defeat. The last three games at Wanderers (1-0), against Brentford (2-1) and again against Wolverhampton (2-1) were all won. Against Wolves, the Londoners delivered a convincing record of 26:6 shots on goal! The Gunners also collected full points away from home in the last three duels.

Arsenal’s strength certainly lies in their defence. Arteta’s team has only conceded 27 goals. That is the fifth best value in the league. The attacking line is somewhat more restrained, scoring 38 times so far, which puts them in seventh place in this ranking. Arsenal’s top scorer is Emile Smith Rowe, who has so far scored nine times past the opposition keeper.

In contrast to their upcoming opponents, the Gunners have found success through playful means. The red and whites have only fought 2229 duels, the fewest in the entire league.

Predicted Arsenal line-up:
Ramsdale – Tierney, Gabriel, White, Soares – Xhaka, Partey – Smith Rowe , Odegaard, Saka – Lacazette

01/23 2022 – Arsenal London 0 – 0 Burnley

Carabao Cup
01/20 2022 – Arsenal London 0 – 2 Liverpool FC

Watford – Arsenal Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

The two teams have met 27 times in the Premier League so far. With fifteen wins and only ten defeats, the direct comparison goes to the visitors from London. Also for the duel on Sunday it looks good for the Gunners. The bookmakers are making a prediction in favour of the red and whites in the match between Watford and Arsenal and are offering odds of 1.60 at the top.

In the first leg, the Gunners narrowly prevailed 1-0. Five of the last six games have gone to the Londoners. The Hornets’ last win came in 2017, when the teams drew 2-2 in Watford after the visitors failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead.

Watford – Arsenal Tip

The pressure in this game is clearly on the hosts. The Hornets are stuck in the bottom of the table and desperately need to get the three points to get out of this messy situation. The bookmakers, however, are not very optimistic and offer odds of 6.50 on the home side in the match between Watford and Arsenal.

The visitors have put themselves in an excellent position in recent weeks. Three wins in a row have brought the Gunners within striking distance of the Champions League places. The basis was a stable defence, which is one of the best in the English Premier League.

We also see the red and white as having a clear advantage in this duel. We doubt that the Hornets’ harmless attack will cause the Londoners’ back line any trouble. From our point of view, the negative series of the hosts in their own stadium will continue and we recommend betting on the Gunners in the match Watford vs Arsenal at odds of 1.60 at the top.

If you want to take a bit more risk, we recommend betting on an away win without conceding a goal in the match Watford vs Arsenal at odds of 2.50.
