Is the Zebrette’s flight of fancy over?

Udinese Calcio are experiencing a relapse into old times – at least that is the interim conclusion after two defeats in the last two matchdays. The “Zebrette” has thus squandered the momentum after the promising start to the season – Udinese picked up seven points in the first three games of the season – and has already slipped to tenth place in the table.

This weekend, Udinese Calcio will play at home against sixth-placed Florence. The hosts from Udine are rated as slight underdogs by the betting companies. For a home victory of Udinese against Fiorentina, odds in the range of 3.00 are offered.

Because the “Zebrette” have not lost a home game against the visitors from Florence since April 2018, we are by no means ruling out a point for the white and black this season either.

Just like the hosts from Udine, Fiorentina also lost during the week and slipped down to sixth place. For the “Viola”, however, the defeat against the reigning champions from Milan will be bearable, even if AC Florence squandered an interim half-time lead in the process.

Italy Udinese – Statistics & current form

In the last season, Udinese stayed away from the relegation places of the Serie A for the most part, apart from the weak start to the season, and were thus able to successfully stay in the class. The 2021/22 season, on the other hand, got off to a promising start for the “Zebrette” under the leadership of head coach Luca Gotti, but Udinese buckled again on the last two match days.

Neither in the home match against the leaders from Naples nor in the away match against AS Roma could Udinese Calcio score. On both matchdays, the “Zebrette” also failed to score a goal. Surprisingly, Udinese scored a total of six goals in the first three matchdays.

Gotti’s team scored two of the six goals at home against Juventus Turin. Despite trailing 2-0 at half-time, the hosts from Udine still managed to earn a well-deserved point against the Turin side.

Next win against the visitors from Florence?

Last season, Udinese Calcio managed to win against Fiorentina at the Dacia Arena. The “Zebrette” thus won a home match against the visitors from Florence for the first time since April 2016. In addition, Udinese remained unbeaten against AC Florence in the league for the third time in a row. The white and black team want to continue that streak this season.

Luca Gotti will probably only have to do without Ilija Nestorovski for the home match against Fiorentina. Isaac Success, on the other hand – at least according to current media reports – will be back in the squad after his stomach flu. Compared to the starting eleven that narrowly missed out on a point against AS Roma, Udinese are not expected to make any major changes.

Predicted Udinese line-up:
Silvestri – Becao, Nuytinck, Samir – Molina, Arslan, Walace, Pereyra, Zeegelaar – Pussetto, Deulofeu

Italy Fiorentina – Statistics & current form

Compared to Sunday’s opponents from Udine, Fiorentina possess the far stronger squad. However, the visitors have serious absences this weekend In addition to top-class winger Nicolas Gonzalez, the “Viola” must also continue to do without Gaetano Castrovili for the away game against Udinese Calcio.

The 24-year-old is the centrepiece of AC Florence’s midfield and head coach Vincenzo Italiano does not have an adequate replacement. Nevertheless, Italiano is forced to start the rotation machine and compensate for the absence of Erick Pulgar. Recently, the “Viola” had shown good signs and had won three matches in a row.

Among other things, Italiano’s team even managed an away win at Atalanta Bergamo. That winning streak ended last week against Inter Milan. Fiorentina took a 1-0 lead at home to the Lombardy giants, but after the break, the Milanese side turned up the heat and went in over the top to claim a well-deserved away win.

Florence’s third away win in a row?

For the visitors from Florence, it was only their second defeat in Serie A 2021/22. Prior to that, the sixth-placed team only lost their season opener against AS Roma and therefore remain confident of finishing the current season better than the last few seasons. After all, AC Florence have not finished in single figures since the 2017/18 season.

Last season, Fiorentina even finished 13th in the final table. Accordingly, the “Viola” strengthened itself in the summer transfer window and also kept the team structure stable. Currently, Fiorentina even has one of the eight most valuable squads in Serie A.

It is therefore all the more important to build on the last two performances away from home and record a third win in a row. If the “Viola” gets an away win in Udine, odds of 2.38 are paid out for tip 2 on Udinese vs. Fiorentina.

Predicted Fiorentina line-up:
Dragowski – Odriozola, Milenkovic, Martinez Quarta, Biraghi – Bonaventura, Torreira, Amrabat – Callejon, Vlahovic, Sottil

Udinese – Fiorentina Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

This is the 99th time the two clubs have met. AC Florence currently lead the head-to-head comparison against Sunday’s opponents from Udine with a record of 48-28-22. On average, 2.79 goals per game have been scored in the 98 matches between the two clubs. If the three-goal mark is broken this weekend, Udinese vs. Fiorentina will pay attractive odds.

Since April 2016, the Viola have lost only one match against Udinese Calcio. That defeat came in the most recent encounter – a good omen for the “Zebrette” from Udine?

Italy Udinese – Fiorentina Italy Tip

Compared to last season, Udinese made a strong start to the season this term and at least stayed clear of the Serie A relegation places. Five matchdays into the 2021/22 season, the “Zebrette” already have seven points to their name. By comparison, last year Udinese had only three points after six matchdays and were in the relegation zone.

Although Luca Gotti’s team recently suffered two defeats in a row, there is a clear upward trend for the white and black team. The guests from Florence will be a real test for the “Zebrette”. Before the recent victory against AC Florence, Udinese had not won against the Viola for almost five years.

Udinese have enough potential in their squad to take at least a point from the visitors from Florence. The “Zebrette” could already score at their own stadium against Juventus in the season opener. With a stake of four units, we therefore dare to bet on Udinese vs. Fiorentinaat attractive odds on the home side
