A “deferred arrest” was issued today for the person responsible for throwing the firecracker that endangered goalkeeper Emil Audero during last Sunday’s Cremonese-Inter match. The suspect is a 19-year-old “supporter” believed to be part of the Inter ultras group. The operation, conducted by the Cremona Police Department, was concluded “within 48 hours of the incident,” as required by legislation combating sports violence. A key factor was the cross-referencing of the stadium’s video surveillance footage with images analyzed by the Forensic Police, which made it possible to identify with absolute certainty the person responsible for throwing the firecracker that struck Audero just as the second half of the match between the Grigiorossi and the Nerazzurri had begun. It was therefore not the man who was hospitalized after a firecracker exploded in his hand, but a fan believed to belong to the newly formed “No Name” group. Furthermore, the investigation by the Cremona DIGOS (Special Operations Division) is ongoing: the goal is to identify those responsible for other firecrackers and smoke bombs thrown shortly before the start of the match.
