Chelsea hope to return to Europe

In their search for at least a small taste of success, Chelsea Football Club found it again on Thursday evening. In a dramatic match at home to Manchester United, the Blues turned a 2:3 deficit into a 4:3 victory thanks to two Palmer goals in the tenth and eleventh minutes of stoppage time, thus keeping alive their hopes of participating in international competition next season. The Londoners are currently five points adrift of sixth place and still have a catch-up game up their sleeve

In order to underpin their ambitions of a top six finish, which were unthinkable for a long time in this disappointing season, they will be looking to bag another three-pointer at the weekend. On paper, this appears to be a mere formality, as the bet on an away win against Chelsea is only 1.41 ahead of the Sheffield United clash. The Pochettino team is therefore clearly favored at the bottom of the table. Anything other than a three-pointer for the visitors would undoubtedly be a disappointment

In order to make a suitable prediction between Sheffield United and Chelsea, not only the recent good form of the former Champions League winners must be taken into account, but also the inferiority of the Blades, who have only managed 15 points and conceded a string of goals this season.

Now that the current Premier League season is entering the home straight and all decisions will be made in around a month at the latest, the European Championship in Germany is still on the agenda in June. Sheffield United – Statistics & current form

For around 75 minutes on Thursday evening, Sheffield United were able to dream of a sensational points haul at Anfield Road. Although the team at the bottom of the table fell behind after just 17 minutes, a curious coincidence suddenly led to an unexpected equalizer after just under an hour. The Blades defended passionately, threw themselves into every ball and ultimately conceded two goals. The result was a 3-1 defeat, which brought them one step closer to immediate relegation to the Championship.

With just 15 points after 30 match days, it will take a medium-sized miracle for the footballers from the steel city to remain in the top flight next season. Even more worrying than the ten-point gap to the safety zone is the fact that they have only managed three meagre three-pointers over the entire season. Six draws and 21 (!) defeats round off the record and serve as the first indication that it might not be particularly clever to make a prediction on the hosts between Sheffield United and Chelsea.

Sheffield’s defense is not fit for the first division

The bottom club’s biggest shortcoming remains their incredibly fragile defense. Coach Chris Wilder’s team has already conceded 80 goals. In the eight home games alone since his return to Sheffield Wednesday in December, they have conceded 26 goals, an average of more than three per match. The total of 50 goals conceded in all home games across all competitions is also alarming and unparalleled in the league.

If you also consider that the Blades have conceded 19 (!) goals in their last four PL home games and have not conceded fewer than two goals in a single match at home since the beginning of December, it becomes clear why we are primarily considering the odds on an away win before Sheffield United’s game against Chelsea and possibly garnishing them with an over add-on. The fact that Wilder’s team have picked up two points from their last three competitive games does nothing to change this. The heavy home defeats against Arsenal (0:6), Brighton (0:5) and Aston Villa (0:5) are too present.

Chelsea – Statistics & current form

It is not known whether Mauricio Pochettino’s favorite sport, apart from soccer, is tennis. However, if you look at his team’s performances, it’s not far off. His Blues’ style of play is wild. Similar to the former sport of the rich, it goes back and forth. Fans are almost forced to bring painkillers into the stadium to treat the neck pain caused by the constant left and right bending of the head.

The best example of the attacking and at times unrestrained style of play that the Argentine coach has implemented in the team, no doubt also due to the young average age, was the home game against Manchester United on Thursday evening, which was won 4:3 after a dramatic final phase. The match-winner was once again Cole Palmer, who not only scored the two decisive goals in stoppage time, but also scored three times in total.

The summer signing from Manchester City has now scored seven goals in his last four Premier League games, taking his personal tally to 16 goals and eight assists. As the England international also scores the Blues’ penalties and is simply in outstanding form, we can well imagine betting on another goal from the attacking player. Should the 21-year-old Palmer even score the first goal of the game and put his team 1-0 ahead, attractive odds of 4.33 could be dusted off between Sheffield United and Chelsea in the Bet365 app.

Chelsea aim to remain unbeaten for the seventh time in a row

In general, the Londoners are in decent form at the moment. Chelsea have not lost any of their last six league games, although it must be said that they have only managed a sobering point against basement dwellers Burnley and Brentford. On the other hand, they also managed to snatch a point from title contenders Manchester. In terms of the table, the unbeaten run meant that the capital club can suddenly start dreaming of international business again. Five points behind sixth place with one catch-up game left to play is a promising starting position for the immediate final spurt of the season.

If you want to be cautious with a bet on the three-way market given the lack of consistency in Pochettino’s team throughout the season, the Sheffield United v Chelsea clash offers exciting odds for the visitors from London to score in both halves. In the last four CFC league games, such a tip would have gone through. In general, the Blues have scored a whopping eleven goals in this period. They have also scored at least two goals in six of their last seven PL matches. Against by far the weakest defense in the English top flight, the youngsters will therefore in all likelihood also find good solutions and polish up their own offensive statistics.

Predicted Chelsea line-up:

Sheffield United – Chelsea head-to-head / H2H record

Sheffield United and Chelsea will meet for the 78th time in the English top flight this weekend. With 35 wins compared to 26 defeats, the Blues currently have the edge. The Londoners have also won six of their last eight away games at Bramall Lane. The first leg was also won by Pochettino’s side, who came out on top at home with a relatively lackluster 2-0 victory. Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson both scored in the second half

Sheffield United – Chelsea betting tip

For the first time in his coaching career, Mauricio Pochettino will be the guest at Bramall Lane on Sunday evening as part of the Premier League matchday 32. The Yorkshire region has been kind to the Argentine so far, however, as the soccer coach and his teams have celebrated five wins in five attempts against neighboring clubs Huddersfield Town and Hull City. Whether Pochettino can maintain this 100% record will be decided from 18:30. There’s a lot to be said for it in the run-up!

The betting odds between Sheffield United and Chelsea imply that the Londoners are the clear favorites, as they have not lost in the Premier League in six consecutive matches and have even scored at least twice in six of their last seven matches. On the other side are the Blades, who are bottom of the table and continue to struggle with defensive deficiencies. They concede an average of three goals per home game. Most recently, they have conceded six, five and five again at home against Arsenal, Brighton and Aston Villa

We have therefore decided to take a little more risk with our Sheffield United vs Chelsea betting tip and combine two approaches. On the one hand, we believe that the Blues will lead at half-time and win the match. Secondly, at least three goals are likely to be scored during the match. We combine the double result HT2/FT2 with the over 2.5 and end up with a proud 2.51 at Intertops, which we play with four units
