Will Sevilla remain unbeaten against the bats?

Sevilla FC are still on the road to redemption after a mixed start to the season. The Andalusians scored three points for the first time since the coaching change with victory in Mallorca last weekend and thus remained unbeaten for the third time in a row under new head coach Jorge Sampaoli.

During the week, things will go from strength to strength. For the first time since the start of the season, the Spanish top flight has an English week. Sevilla FC face Valencia FC and are aiming for the next three points in La Liga.

With Sevilla vs Valencia, odds of 2.25 are currently being offered for tip 1. The last time the bats visited the Andalusian giants, it was a 3-1 defeat for Valencia FC, making it their fourth consecutive away loss at Sevilla.

The bats are nevertheless confident going into the upcoming match against their Andalusian league rivals. After all, Valencia FC have not lost any of their last four league games since the defeat to Rayo – will it stay that way?

Sevilla – Statistics & current form

Sevilla FC have shown an act of defiance since the change of coach and have remained unbeaten in their last three competitive matches. There was no defeat against Bilbao, BVB or Mallorca. Most recently, the “Nervionenses” even scored three points and were able to make a small jump in the table.

Under Sampaoli, who was introduced as Lopetegui’s successor, the recent series is now to be continued. With the current gap to the international starting positions, Sevilla FC is under some pressure to win. Even before Tuesday’s match against Valencia FC, the red and whites are ten points away from a place in the top flight.

It is therefore all the more important to make the most of the home advantage against their league rivals from Valencia. So far, Sevilla FC have not won a league match at home in four attempts. With a record of 0-2-2, the Red and Whites are even statistically the second-weakest home team in the Spanish top flight.

Will the recent home record against Valencia be erased?

Encouraging home record against Valencia FC ahead of the upcoming match. Since March 2019, the “Nervionenses” have won each of their last four home matches against the bats. Last season, they even won 3:1. If the next victory beckons, odds of 2.25 for tip 1 are paid out for Sevilla vs. Valencia.

SFC coach Jorge Sampaoli will be without three players due to injury. Compared to last week’s starting eleven against RCD Mallorca, no major changes are expected. Internally, Óliver Torres currently leads the scoring charts for the Red and Whites.

The 27-year-old has already scored three goals at league level so far.

Valencia – Statistics & current form

Just like Sevilla FC, Valencia FC did not have the best start to the season. After nine matchdays, the bats have already suffered three defeats. However, Valencia remained unbeaten in the last four league games and thus fought their way up to seventh place in the Spanish top flight.

Last week, despite home advantage, they only managed a bitter draw against last-placed Elche. This was only the second time in the current season that Valencia FC lost at home. However, they have already scored the maximum points in three of their five home games.

On the other hand, there is still room for improvement away from home. The bats have only recorded one win in four away games so far, but have already lost two matches. Valencia FC have won just one of their last nine competitive matches on foreign soil, both on a season and competition-wide basis.

Bats without stability in defensive play

In order to score points in the upcoming encounter in Andalusia, head coach Gattuso’s side will need to hone their defensive game in particular. The bats have conceded five goals in their last three competitive matches. Two of those five goals were against CF Elche, statistically the second weakest offensive team in the Spanish top flight.

It would therefore be all the more surprising if they could keep their clean sheet against Sevilla FC. Valencia have conceded at least one goal in each of their last four away games against SFC.

Gennaro Gattuso will be without Domenech for the match against Sevilla. Cavani, on the other hand, is still a question mark. The Uruguayan had to be substituted against Elche due to injury. It therefore remains to be seen whether the bats’ top scorer will be back on the pitch on Tuesday evening.

Predicted line-up of Valencia:
Mamardashvili; Correia, Paulista, Comert, Gaya; Musah, Nico, Almeida; Kluivert, Duro, Lino

Sevilla – Valencia Direct comparison / H2H balance

Sevilla and Valencia meet for the 180th time overall. The Andalusians currently trail in direct comparison against the bats with a record of 67-33-79. However, SFC have retained the upper hand in their last seven competitive matches and have not lost a meeting. The Andalusian top club even won five of the last seven matches.

Last season, Sevilla FC won the first leg 3-1. The second-round match in Valencia, on the other hand, ended in a 1-1 draw.

Sevilla – Valencia Tip

Since the change of coach, a small upward trend can be seen at Sevilla FC. The Andalusians did not lose on Sampaoli’s coaching debut against Bilbao, nor did they suffer a defeat at BVB on the international stage. Most recently, the “Nervionenses” even scored three times and thus ended the ongoing slump.

If the Red and Whites continue their strong performance against Mallorca during the week, a win against Valencia FC cannot be ruled out. After all, Tuesday’s opponents already failed against the bottom team from Elche last weekend and only picked up a point.

In addition, the bats have lost their last four matches in Seville anyway. Therefore, we think it is obvious to give our prediction for Sevilla vs. Valencia at reasonable betting odds on the hosts from Andalusia. We are using five out of a total of ten possible units to do this.
