Will the Pirates fight back in the Andalusian derby?
There are more than 100 kilometres between the Andalusian capital Seville and the south-eastern Spanish port city of Cadiz. Nevertheless, the match between two first division teams from Andalusia is a derby. For the Pirates, it is all about setting the course for further derbies. With only a one-point lead over the first relegation spot, the Pirates are not yet assured of staying in the league.
Most recently, however, Cadiz celebrated a remarkable 1-0 away win at FC Barcelona. The Pirates will travel to the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán with a broad chest, where they have never before recorded an away win. Accordingly, the odds are clearly in favour of the Rojiblancos in the Sevilla vs Cadiz match.
However, things have not gone too smoothly for the Nervionenses in recent weeks. Sevilla have won just two of their last seven competitive games (two draws, three defeats) and are by no means assured of a Champions League spot. Considering that the visitors from the southeast have scored in six of their last seven league games, they are likely to be up against it.
Sevilla – Statistics & current form
Sevilla FC can basically be satisfied with the way the season has gone so far. The Rojiblancos are in third place in the table, have won 17 of their 33 league games and have their sights firmly set on the Champions League with only four defeats in La Liga.
Nevertheless, what they have achieved is somewhat clouded by what could have been possible. After all, the Nervionenses were the only league leaders besides Real Madrid in the 2021/22 season. After a disastrous start to the season for Barca, the Andalusians even finished second for long stretches.
Only two wins in their last seven competitive matches
Additionally, the Europa League record winner also failed to reach the quarter-finals in their showpiece competition recently. A 1-0 home win in the first leg against West Ham could not be defended away in London (0-2 after extra time).
All in all, Julen Lopetegui’s men have won only two of their last seven matches (two draws, three defeats). This was also due to the fact that the defence has lost some of its stability. A total of eleven goals have been conceded in these seven games.
An absolute home power in La Liga
Never the less, the Rojiblancos go into the Andalusian derby favoured.
No team in Spain’s top division has won more home games (eleven out of 16), lost less often in front of a home crowd (only one home game lost) and picked up more points at home (37 out of a possible 48) than the Nervionenses. Added to this is the series of now 18 home games in a row without defeat against the Pirates.

Cadiz – Statistics & current form
Cadiz Club de Fútbol were promoted just under two years ago and finished their first season in La Liga in a commanding twelfth place after 14 years on the fringes of the lower league. However, the Pirates have not really been able to build on this success in the current season.
Five matchdays before the end of the season, the southeastern Spanish team is still in a deep relegation battle and, with 31 points on the account, is only one point away from the first relegation spot. Accordingly, it will be a tight game for the Andalusians in the weeks to come.
Ten points out of a possible 21 from the last seven league games
The blame for the misery lies with the lack of efficiency in front of the opponent’s goal for a long time. However, coach Sergio, who was hired at the beginning of the year, has been able to improve this efficiency. Most recently, Cádiz won three of the last seven league games (one draw, three defeats).
All in all, the record of only six wins from the 33 league games – the second worst in La Liga – still reads catastrophic. However, the Pirates’ ten points from a possible 21 should give them hope, and they beat two strong opponents, Barcelona and Villarreal, 1-0 each.
Always scored in six of last seven league games
The fact that the starting position is somewhat more comfortable again is also due to the fact that the yellow and blue have always scored at least one goal of their own in six of the last seven league games. The only exception was a goalless draw against Valencia.
The odds are therefore in favour of the Pirates scoring an away goal at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán against Cadiz. Whether that will be enough to win a point remains to be seen. However, considering that they have not lost seven of their last ten league games, the momentum is certainly there for Sergio’s team.

Sevilla – Cadiz Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 21 – 11 – 5
The two Andalusian clubs from Sevilla and Cadiz have met 37 times so far, and the Rojiblancos are the clear leaders in the head-to-head comparison with 21 victories. Most recently, the Nervionenses have lost seven six competitive games in a row against Sevilla.
Sevilla – Cadiz Tip
The prediction for Sevilla against Cadiz goes clearly in the direction of the home-strong Rojiblancos, who have the best home record in La Liga. No team has won more often at home (eleven times), suffered fewer home defeats (only one) and taken more points at home (37 out of a possible 48). Accordingly, little should normally go wrong in the Andalusian derby.
However, the Pirates arrive in good form. Three of their six wins this season have come in their last seven league games – including victories over Villarreal and Barcelona. Accordingly, it is coherent to go for the goal bet.
