Will the struggling Rojiblancos now also stumble in the derby?

For the third time in the current millennium, Sevilla FC have just two victories to their name after eleven La Liga games (after 2002/03 and 2022/23). The Rojiblancos’ relegation has thus continued seamlessly at national level, as they sit in a completely sobering 15th place in the table. There is therefore little to suggest that Sevilla’s home win against Betis Sevilla will work out for the Nervionenses.

It should be noted, however, that Sevilla FC have not lost any of the last nine Sevilla derbies in La Liga (six wins, three draws). In the 21st century, that equates to the Rojiblancos’ longest unbeaten streak against their city rivals, who they last lost to in the Copa del Rey in 2021/22. Nevertheless, Sevilla v Betis Sevilla offers little value in predicting a continuation of that streak

Real Betis go into this clash in very good form. The Verdiblancos are unbeaten in eleven competitive games in a row (seven wins, four draws) and have won all of their last five competitive games, scoring 21 goals to 3. A 2-0 win over Mallorca in La Liga was followed by a commanding 4-1 victory over Aris Limassol in the Europa League during the week, which puts Real Betis top of Group C.

It is therefore quite conceivable that the Verdiblancos will now be able to upset their city rivals once again and exacerbate the Rojiblancos’ crisis with an away win at the Derbi Sevillano. We recommend hedging with a “Draw No Bet”

Sevilla – Statistics & current form

Sevilla FC were already in the relegation battle at times in the 2022/23 season and only finished eleventh in the final La Liga table at the end of a disastrous season. Despite this, the Rojiblancos qualified for the Champions League once again by winning the Europa League once more.

Despite another fresh start in the summer, however, the Nervionenses are still in a bad way, having got off to the worst possible start this year. For the third time in the current millennium after 2002/03 and 2022/23, they have just two wins from their first eleven league games

Only one win in the last nine competitive matches

At the beginning of October, the next change of coach promptly took place. The Uruguayan Diego Alonso took over, but was unable to turn things around. His first competitive match was promising (1:1 against Real Madrid). However, Sevilla have only won the Copa del Rey match against the lower-ranked CD Quintanar (3:0) under his leadership.

This makes a total of just one win from the six competitive games under Diego Alonso (three draws, two defeats). In the last two league games, they even failed to break free in two supposedly must-win games against Cadiz (2:2) and Celta Vigo (1:1)

Still winless in the Champions League

Of course, fans would be instantly reconciled if the club, which has slipped to 15th in the La Liga table, could now turn things around in the Derbi Sevillano of all places. However, there is not much value to be found in Sevilla v Betis Sevilla in betting tip 1. It was only on Wednesday evening that they suffered their next setback in the Champions League against Arsenal (0:2).

The Rojiblancos are still winless in Group B of the top flight after four games (two draws, two defeats) and, as things stand, would not even make it into the Europa League this winter. As a result, the mood around the club remains tense.

Sevilla’s probable line-up:

Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form

Since Manuel Pellegrini took over as coach of the second major club from the Andalusian capital Sevilla, Real Betis Balompié, things have been looking up for the Verdiblancos.

Although the Béticos have always narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Champions League recently, they secured their first title in 17 years in the 2021/22 season when they won the Copa del Rey for the third time after 1977 and 2005.

Unbeaten in La Liga for seven games

The Verdiblancos are once again in the upper third of the table in the battle for a European spot. After twelve games, Real Betis are sixth in the table with 20 points.

The Béticos have recently remained unbeaten in seven consecutive La Liga games (three wins, four draws) – their longest run since August 2021. If you also include the other competitions, there are even eleven competitive games in a row without defeat (seven wins, four draws).

Won all of their last five competitive matches, scoring 21:3 goals

The club can now head into the Derbi Sevillano with a correspondingly broad chest, having won all of their last five competitive matches by 21 goals to 3. The Verdiblancos not only warmed up with a 12:1 victory in the Copa del Rey, but also during the week in the Europa League against Aris Limassol (4:1).

The odds for Sevilla v Betis Sevilla are correspondingly interesting in our eyes, with the Béticos now able to really annoy their local rivals for the first time since January 6, 2018, when Real Betis managed their last away win at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán after nine winless derbies in La Liga.

Predicted Betis Sevilla line-up:

Sevilla – Betis Sevilla head-to-head comparison / H2H record

Head to head: 65 – 34 – 40

The Derbi Sevillano has taken place a total of 139 times and Sevilla FC lead the head-to-head with 65 wins. The Rojiblancos are unbeaten in nine La Liga encounters with their city rivals (six wins, three draws). That is their longest unbeaten streak against the Béticos in the 21st century.

Sevilla – Betis Sevilla betting tip

At the moment, the bookmakers’ odds for Sevilla v Betis Sevilla are pointing towards the Rojiblancos. However, we can’t really go along with this assessment. The Nervionenses have been too pale in the league so far, winning just two of their eleven games (five draws, four defeats). This contrasts with the Verdiblacos’ unbeaten streak, who have not lost any of their last eleven competitive games (seven wins, four draws).

Real Betis have won all of their last five competitive games in a row, scoring 21 goals to 3. The prediction for an away win for the Verdiblancos against Betis Sevilla is correspondingly consistent and, given the form of both teams, we definitely believe they can win their first three-pointer at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán since January 6, 2018.
