The rematch of the Cup final becomes the top match in the league

A real top match will take place on Wednesday evening as part of the 14th matchday in the Bundesliga. The second-placed team from Breisgau is the guest of the sixth-placed team from the central city of Saxony.

A real top match will take place on Wednesday evening.

Leipzig go into this top match with a lot of momentum. Marco Rose’s side have not lost any of their last eleven matches in the competition.

In addition, the Bullen have a strong record against the Sport-Club. Rasenballsport have not lost to the friendly club from the south of the country in six direct duels. However, four of these six encounters also ended in draws. For this reason, among others, you should think twice before betting on the three-way market between RB Leipzig and Freiburg, as there are too many incalculable risks involved.

At first glance, a potential bet on the spectators present at the Red Bull Arena getting to see a goal or two seems more realistic. Both teams are bursting with confidence after good results, have plenty of individual quality on the offensive and have defined for themselves the claim to stay at the top before the World Cup break. We can therefore imagine making a prediction on a relatively high number of goals before the match between RB Leipzig and Freiburg.

RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form

At the beginning of the season, RB Leipzig were still among the biggest disappointments. Under Domenico Tedesco, the Saxons made a real false start at national and international level and threatened to lose all their goals early on. The dismissal of the German-Italian and the installation of Marco Rose as his successor were the logical consequences for the club.

After the first two months with the ex-Dortmund man on the sidelines, the first interim conclusion must be very positive. Of the 14 games under his leadership, the Bullen have only lost two and drawn two. Ten victories in this period are an outstanding value, especially when you consider that the central city club thus clinched a ticket to the last 16 in the Champions League and also made up ground in the Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig have plenty of momentum on their side

In the meantime, the reigning Cup winners, who will incidentally meet Manchester City in the aforementioned round of 16 of the top flight, have been unbeaten in eleven (!) competitive matches. In the league, they have picked up 14 of a possible 18 points from the last six matches. In addition, there is a more than impressive home strength, which can also be proven with figures. In six home games, there have been five wins and one draw. In addition, 16 goals scored correspond to an average of almost three own goals per match in front of the home crowd.

In general, the offensive output is definitely worth a mention. Only Bayern and Frankfurt have scored more goals than RBL. In 13 Bundesliga matches involving Leipzig, a whopping 44 goals were scored in the current season (3.38 goals on average). In nine of the 13 matches mentioned, the mark of 2.5 goals was broken, which is why we are also looking at the odds for at least three goals in the course of the match on Wednesday evening between RB Leipzig and Freiburg.

Christopher Nkunku is a potential goal scorer for the home side. The Frenchman leads the scoring charts with eleven goals and has always scored at least once in five consecutive competitive matches. An exciting top odds of 2.62 is offered for a goal by Nkunku on Wednesday, which includes appealing value in any case. In addition to the long-term injured Gulacsi, Werner, Lainer and Klostermann, Rose may also have to do without the shoulder-injured Simakan. Henrichs will return after a yellow ban.

Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:
Blaswich – Henrichs, Orban, Gvardiol, Raum – X. Schlager, Kampl – Szoboszlai, Dani Olmo – Nkunku – Silva

Freiburg – Statistics & current form

Christian Streich is considered a very emotional coach. But when the veteran is overcome by his own emotions at the end of a match and even has to shed a few tears, you know how important successes with his heart’s club from Freiburg are for him. Thanks to the 2-0 win against Cologne, the Sport-Club has already climbed to second place in the standings and is thus the closest rival to FC Bayern.

The reigning cup finalist is thus still represented at all three weddings. In the DFB Cup, the more than feasible away game at second-division club Sandhausen awaits at the beginning of February, in the Europa League, the Breisgauers will not play again until the round of 16, and in the Bundesliga, even a fight for the Champions League places seems anything but unrealistic. The mood surrounding the likeable cult club from the south could hardly be more exuberant.

Freiburg clearly more vulnerable away than at home

Defensively, the Freiburg side has been particularly convincing so far. With only 13 goals conceded, Streich’s team has the second-best defence in the Bundesliga. Only FC Bayern has conceded fewer goals. Eight clean sheets in 13 attempts are the clear top value!

For the sake of completeness, however, it should also be mentioned that nine of the aforementioned 13 goals were conceded away from home. In four of seven away games, a bet on the over 2.5 would have gone through. The goal ratio of 12:9 implies that, on average, exactly three goals were scored per Sport-Club match. Reason enough to intensify a prediction on at least three goals between RB Leipzig and Freiburg.

Despite the three white waistcoats in the last three Bundesliga games, Freiburg have always offered their opponents something. A team with the quality of the host Saxons should be able to exploit these shortcomings better, which is why another clean sheet is a distant prospect. In terms of personnel, Christian Streich can almost draw from a full complement. Only Ezekwem, Gulde, Kyereh and Schmid are out.

Predicted Freiburg line-up:
Flekken – Kübler, Ginter, Lienhart, Günter – M. Eggestein, Höfler – Doan, Jeong, Grifo – Gregoritsch

30/10/2022 – Schalke 04 0 – 2 SC Freiburg

28/10/2022 – SC Freiburg 1 – 1 Olympiakos Piraeus

RB Leipzig – Freiburg Direct comparison / H2H-Balance

The most recent direct duel between these teams was still for a title. In the DFB Pokal final, the score was still 1-1 after 90 minutes before RBL gained the upper hand in a penalty shoot-out. Incidentally, this was the third 1-1 draw in a row across all competitions. However, Marco Rose was not responsible for the Bullen in any of these matches.

In total, the Saxons have not lost any of the six BL home games against Sport-Club (four wins, two draws) and have scored 15 goals in the process. In four of the six home games mentioned above, at least three goals were scored. In total, the over 2.5 would have gone through in nine of twelve direct duels in the German top flight. A good omen for Wednesday evening?

RB Leipzig – Freiburg Tip

The rematch of the 2022 DFB Cup final is one of the absolute top matches on the 14th Bundesliga matchday. RB Leipzig receives Freiburg. According to the betting odds, the Saxons are relatively clear favourites going into this encounter. The quotes on the three-way market are in the range of 1.80 and thus imply a probability of occurrence of a whopping 55%.

Considering the outstanding form of the Bulls, with eleven unbeaten games in a row and ten wins from the first 14 matches under the management of Marco Rose, it is definitely worth considering playing the aforementioned 1.80 at Bet3000. The fact that the central city side have won four of their six home games against Sport-Club in the Bundesliga also speaks in favour.

We have nevertheless decided to switch to an alternative betting market. It is interesting to bet on at least three goals in the course of the match before the clash between RB Leipzig and Freiburg. In nine of the previous twelve encounters between these clubs in the Bundesliga, such a bet would have paid off.

In addition, three or more goals are scored on average in the games involving RBL and also in the SCF games. Both teams have strong individual players on the offensive and are brimming with confidence after good results in the past. Nothing stands in the way of a lively exchange with over 2.5 goals at odds of 1.66. Nkunku, who is one of the hottest favourites for the World Cup title with France, is a potential goal scorer.
