Färinger on course for conquest: Will Molde also be eliminated?
KI Klaksvik cannot be stopped – not even by Molde FK! With the victory in the first leg (2:1) against the Norwegian champions, the Faroese provided the next surprise on the international stage and now have the ticket for the playoffs within reach. In Norway, a draw is now enough to reach the next round.
In the rounds before, Klaksvik already caused a sensation away from home. Neither against Ferencvaros (3:0) nor against BK Häcken (3:3) did the Faroe Islands champions lose away from home. Betting fans who are also leaning towards a KÍ coup this time can pick up betting odds of up to 10.50 on the visitors for a Molde vs Klaksvik tip.
In the first leg, KI Klaksvik already defied the Norwegian representative and fought their way back into the game after trailing 1-0 to win 2-1, so the high odds on another coup for the Faroese are all the more surprising.
Considering how strong Klaksvik was in the previous rounds in Sweden and Hungary, the representative from the dwarf state of the Faroe Islands can also expect a surprise in Norway. Our Molde vs. Klaksvik prediction aims exactly at that.
Molde – Statistics & current form
Molde FK actually still squandered the win at KI Klaksvik. After taking the lead at the start of the second half, the Norwegian champions lost control of the game and ultimately the match. MFK now need to win their home game against the Faroese to realise a place in the play-offs after all, with a simple win only forcing extra time.
The Blue and Whites have lost only one of their last four home games on the international stage this season. The recent winning streak at the Aker Stadion is also commendable. Molde FK have won their last nine games at home, including a 2-0 win over HJK in the qualifying round.
If the next win is on the cards, odds of 1.25 are being paid out on Molde vs. However, betting on this is risky, because MFK already stumbled against the Faroese in the first leg – especially in the second half. To make matters worse, Molde have also suffered a setback in the league recently.
Will MFK be able to contain the Faroese attack this time?
Erling Moe’s side even conceded two goals in their league match against Sandjeford. It was the second match in a row in which the Blue and Whites scored twice. By comparison, Molde conceded a maximum of one goal per match in their seven previous competitive matches.
A clean sheet can also be ruled out in the return match against KI Klaksvik. MFK’s defensive line was already far too vulnerable in the first leg. It is also obvious that the three-goal mark will be broken in the Aker Stadion. Bets on this have paid off in seven of MFK’s last ten home games. Head coach Moe has no personnel worries for the match against KI Klaksvik and will start with his best line-up.
Predicted line-up of Molde:
Karkstrom; Hansen, Bjornbak, Hagelskjaer; Linnes, Mannsverk, Eikrem, Haugen; Eriksen, Breivik; Brynhildsen
Klaksvik – Statistics & current form
KI Klaksvik is the surprise team of the current CL qualification. The Faroese have been causing a stir since the first round of the qualifying phase for the top division and most recently also brought Swedish champions BK Häcken to their knees. With the win against Molde (2:1), Klaksvik now also smells a chance for the play-offs.
The return match will now take place on foreign soil – much to Klaksvik’s delight. In the previous rounds, the Faroe Islands had already impressed at home against Ferencvaros Budapest and BK Häcken. Three goals were scored in both matches. It is quite possible that KÍ Klaksvik will continue their high flight at MFK.
Klaksvik already showed that they have enough offensive power in the first leg against the Norwegian champions. The Faroe Islands champions have scored in every away match since April 2023. Betting on the Faroese to score this time is therefore by no means out of the question.
Will KÍ even win in Molde?
Because Molde FK are under pressure to win, Klaksvik will have some freedom in their offensive play in the second leg at the latest. It is therefore all the more surprising that the bookmakers with a German licence are currently offering odds of 10.50 for a Molde vs Klaksvik bet on the Faroese.
The surprise team from the Faroe Islands has the potential to win away from home – especially after the result in the first leg. It only remains to be seen how KÍ coach Magne Hoseth will field his team against Molde FK. In the last two rounds of the CL qualifiers, KÍ went with a 3-4-3 formation in their away matches. It is quite possible that Hoseth will insist on that this time as well.
Predicted line-up of Klaksvik:
Johansson; Danielsen, Faero, Vatnsdal, Forren, Joensen; Frederiksberg, Pavlovic, Andreasen, Kronberg; Kassi
Molde – Klaksvik Direct comparison / H2H balance
Last week Molde FK and KÍ Klaksvik met for the first time ever in the Champions League. Klaksvik, as underdogs and despite being 1-0 down, still edged MFK 2-1 to cut the deficit to 1-0-2 in the H2h. In the two previous meetings, both in the 2003/04 EL qualifiers, Molde won against KÍ.
Molde – Klaksvik Faroe Tip
Favourites KÍ Klaksvik have struck again. The Faroe Islands champions also toppled the Norwegian champions with victory over Molde FK, continuing their high-flying run in the top flight. The Faroese are only one step away from reaching the CL qualifying play-offs for the first time ever.
In Molde, the supposed underdog should not be underestimated. Klaksvik have already impressed in the previous rounds at home to strong teams like Ferencvaros and BK Häcken. It would therefore not be at all surprising if KÍ also overcome the difficult hurdle at MFK.
We see value in the high odds on KÍ Klaksvik and don’t think it’s at all outlandish to place a tip on the visitors in Molde vs Klakvsik.
