Dutiful task for Lazio Roma?

In the Europa League, Lokomotive Moscow’s adventure is drawing to a close. With two matchdays to go before the group stage draws to a close, the Russian representative is still in last place in Group E. So far, the Muscovites have recorded only two points in the entire group phase.

Therefore, Lokomotive are grasping at the last straw in their home match against Lazio Roma and, given their current position in the standings, are already under some pressure to win. Another defeat would be the coup de grâce – also with regard to third place, which would at least continue the international adventure in the sixteenth finals of the Conference League.

In the first half of the season, Lazio won their home match against their Russian group rivals without conceding a goal. It is quite possible that the “Biancocelesti” will also prevail against the Muscovites in the second leg.

Lokomotive Moscow will not only be short of players for the second leg against Lazio Roma, but are also in a crisis of form. Across all competitions, the “Parovozy” has celebrated only two victories in the last twelve competitive matches.

However, bettors who still want to bet on the Russian hosts as outsiders can pick up odds of 4.40 on Lokomotive Moscow vs Lazio Roma.

Lokomotive Moscow – Statistics & current form

This is not how Markus Gisdol imagined his adventure in Moscow. After all, the desired turnaround at Lokomotive failed to materialise under the 52-year-old’s management. The “Parovozy” has only won two of the last seven competitive matches under Gisdol. Nevertheless, Lokomotive is still among the four best teams in the league.

Only on the international stage has the Russian representative disappointed beyond measure. After four match days, there are still only minimal mathematical chances of entering the knockout phase of the Europa League. So far, Lokomotive has only two points in four group matches.

Surprisingly, one of the two points came in the away match against the leaders from Istanbul. The performance of the defensive line was particularly praiseworthy, after all, the “Parovozy” was able to defy the Turkish offensive for long stretches.

Next setback for Gisdol & Co.

In the dress rehearsal before the match against the Romans, Lokomotive Moscow conceded defeat to Akhmat Grozny last weekend. This was the first time that the “Parovozy” lost a league match under the management of Markus Gisdol. The defeat was mainly due to the sending-off in the first half.

For long stretches, Lokomotive had to play shorthanded. Nevertheless, it was a match of equals in which the Muscovites had realistic chances to at least take a point against the guests from Grozny. With numerous key players still out injured, the next setback cannot be ruled out during the week.

A total of six players are currently on the Moscow team’s list of casualties. The absences in the midfield are particularly serious. Among others, Anton Miranchuk, the heart of the offensive play, is missing. In addition, regular keeper Guilherme was injured last weekend and will not be available for the home match against Lazio for the time being.

Lazio Roma – Statistics & current form

Lazio Rom conceded a bitter defeat against Juventus last week and thus squandered their good starting position in Serie A. After all, the gap to the starting positions for the top flight has increased. Before the next match against SSC Napoli, which will set the tone for the future, there is still the obligatory task in Moscow during the week.

Against the last team in the group, Lazio have the chance to take a big step towards the knockout stage of the Europa League before the showdown with Olympique Marseille. If Galatasaray even prevail against the French representatives in the parallel match, Lazio Rome will even punch their ticket to the Europa League’s sixteenth finals early if they are successful in Moscow.

The “Biancocelesti” are encouraged by their record against Russian clubs. So far, Lazio Rome have never lost a competitive match against a club from Russia. Lazio have already met a Russian representative seven times, winning three and drawing four.

Ciro Immobile must continue to rest

In the first leg of the current group stage in the Europa League, Lazio already beat Lokomotive Moscow 2-0 to celebrate their first win against the “Parovozy”. Surprisingly, Ciro Immobile, the most dangerous player in the ranks of the “Biancocelesti”, did not score a goal.

This time, the Italian star striker is not available due to injury. In his absence, Maurizio Sarri will probably rely on Pedro up top again. Otherwise, no major changes are expected compared to the last starting eleven against Juventus.

The Romans have not won an away game on the international stage since October 2018. In the meantime, the “Biancocelesti” have been winless in eleven away games in a row in European Cup appearances. If the negative streak comes to an end in Moscow, odds of 1.87 on Lokomotive Moscow vs Lazio Roma are available for a bet on the Italian visitors.

Locomotive Moscow – Lazio Roma Direct comparison / H2H record

Lokomotive Moscow and Lazio Roma have already met three times on the international stage. Two of the three matches ended in a draw. Only in the most recent encounter in the first leg of the current EL group stage did Lazio Roma prevail against the Russian top club from Moscow. In the process, the Romans also kept their clean sheet against Lokomotive for the second time in a row.

Lokomotive Moscow – Lazio Roma Tip

The super-GAU is looming on the international stage for Lokomotive Moscow this week. A potential defeat against Lazio Rome will end their adventure on the international stage in a worst-case scenario. Therefore, Moscow will have to risk a lot against Lazio to force a showdown on the last matchday.

The visitors from Italy, on the other hand, are aiming for early entry into the knockout phase of the Europa League. In the first round, Lazio Rome already beat Lokomotive Moscow. Due to injury, star striker Immobile had to be substituted in the first half. Nevertheless, there was an unchallenged home victory against the Russian group rivals.

Immobile is missing again this time. The “Biancocelesti” are nevertheless rated as clear favourites in Moscow. Considering how weak the hosts from Russia have been in recent weeks, Lazio’s role as favourites is not at all surprising. To make matters worse, Lokomotive is still without key players due to injury.

Our betting odds on Lokomotive Moscow vs Lazio Rome are therefore on an away win. We choose a confident bet of six units. The home side from Moscow already lost their home match against Akhmat Grozny last weekend, who are currently only ninth in the league.
