Are the Reds celebrating their sixth league win in a row?

After a lot of things didn’t go according to plan for Liverpool Football Club this season, it’s currently all about damage limitation. However, the Reds are well on their way to doing so, with five straight wins suggesting that Jürgen Klopp’s side can at least secure a ticket to the Europa League group stage.

The positive trend of recent weeks must now be continued. The chances are pretty good, because before Liverpool’s home match against Brentford, betting on the home side’s three-goal win brings just maximum odds of 1.50. The favorite role of LFC is therefore strong, which is mainly due to the good performance at home recently. Despite a disappointing season on balance, the Reds can still be called a home power.

However, the guests from the capital will definitely not hide. For one thing, the Bees already won the first leg against the 2020 title holders 3:1. On the other hand, the team of coach Thomas Frank also celebrated two important victories on the last two match days, which have once again stoked hopes for the European Cup.

In the duel of two offensively and courageously aligned teams, which want to credit three points on the credit side at all costs, a Liverpool vs. Brentford prediction on one or the other goal in the course of the game therefore seems obvious.

Liverpool – Statistics & current form

At times this season, Liverpool even had to fear having to be spectators in all three international club competitions in the coming season. Thanks to an ongoing winning streak, however, the Reds’ starting position has improved considerably with four matchdays to go. In fifth place, LFC are currently five points clear of their closest rivals, although Brighton still have a chance of catching up if they win two games in the second half of the season.

However, if Klopp’s side can confirm their good form of recent weeks in their remaining matches, the traditional Merseyside club will be competing in the Europa League in 2023/24, and certainly with title aspirations. The Reds have now won five matches in a row in the Premier League. Just over a month ago, the Scousers conceded their last defeat in the English top flight.

In the course of the aforementioned winning streak, it was initially the outstanding offense that was convincing with a whopping 14 goals in four matches, but during the week in the 1-0 win against Fulham, the defense finally remained without conceding a goal once again.

Will there be goals on the unloved LFC-Saturday?

But since Coach Klopp is quite happy to accept a goal or two conceded in favor of a successful spectacle, it might be a good idea to combine odds for a home win between Liverpool and Brentford with goals scored by both teams this time as well. Only the fact that LFC has lost six of the last eleven PL matches that took place on a Saturday might discourage statistics freaks from placing such a bet.

Alternatively, it is conceivable – without a given tendency on the three-way market – to put the over 2.5 on the betting slip. In five of the past six Premier League matches, such a bet would have gone through, as it did in four of the five most recent home games played at Anfield.

We also have Mohamed Salah in mind as a potential goalscorer. The Egyptian not only provided the only goal of the day in the aforementioned 1-0 win over Fulham, but also scored in eight of his last eleven Premier League matches. In total, the right winger has even scored ten goals in this period.

Brentford – Statistics & current form

Regardless of what place in the table Brentford Football Club will finish the season, those responsible will definitely be satisfied with it. In the traditionally more difficult second year after promotion, the Bees have even improved on the premiere season. Whereas in 2021/22 they finished 13th in the final standings, in 2022/23 the Red and Whites at least have their sights firmly set on the top half of the table.

Perhaps even more is possible, however, as coach Thomas Frank’s charges are far from having given up on qualifying for the European Cup, currently just four points behind the faltering sixth-placed Tottenham. However, it is also clear that the Bees need wins to keep the pressure up. Consequently, on Saturday we also expect a team that will not play for a draw at Anfield, but will look for their luck in the offense.

Two wins recently followed six matches without a win

The self-confidence has definitely returned, after only a three-goal win away at Stamford Bridge recently and also turning around the home game against Nottingham last weekend. Both goals in the 2-1 victory came in the final ten minutes. The winning goal even came in injury time.

However, the weak record against the top five teams in the English top flight is problematic with regard to the upcoming match. The Bees have only won two of their 14 PL games against the top five teams at the time. Nevertheless, both victories came away from home. However, the Londoners have rarely won anything at Anfield. A single treble from ten league games is impressive proof of this.

There was, however, one positive piece of news to report during the week. Yoane Wissa, a crowd favorite in the capital, extended his contract early until 2026 and now faces a kind of personal favorite opponent. In two of his three games against LFC so far, Wissa has scored a goal. Together with Ivan Toney, the left winger stands for a lot of speed and a high finishing quality, which in turn leads to a duel with some goals as a conclusion.

Liverpool – Brentford Direct comparison / H2H balance

13 clashes have taken place so far in the top English division. With five wins compared to four draws and four defeats, Liverpool leads the direct comparison by a razor-thin margin. However, the first leg in London went to Brentford 3-1. For the first time ever, the Bees could thus secure a season double on Saturday, i.e. a win in both the first and second legs.

However, because Liverpool have only lost one of their ten matches at home to the capital club (seven wins, two draws), the Liverpool vs Brentford betting odds rightly swing towards the Scousers.

Liverpool – Brentford betting odds

Five straight wins have catapulted Liverpool back to fifth place. However, qualification for the Europa League group stage is not yet set in stone with four matchdays to go. The Reds must remain on the gas pedal and continue their winning streak. A complicated hurdle now awaits at the weekend, as the Bees from London travel to Anfield as a rested guest, who also recently left the pitch as winners twice in a row.

Just how uncomfortable Thomas Frank’s side are to play against is further illustrated by the fact that, since promotion, a total of 21 of their 25 Premier League victories have come when the current ninth-placed team had less possession than their opponents. This is exactly what we can expect at the weekend. However, the Reds’ understandable role as favorites will not change.

We are also convinced that the Klopp team will confirm its good form and land the next victory. In order to get attractive odds, however, the home win should tend to be combined with the addition of “both score” to also be able to reduce the stake.

If you are satisfied with a 1.50 in the top instead, you can decide between Liverpool and Brentford for the tip on Over 2.5 goals.
