Will Almería be promoted to the Spanish top flight?

UD Almeria are just one step away from promotion to the top flight of Spanish football. Last week, the Andalusian representative missed the first match point for direct promotion to La Liga. Now, in the season finale against Leganes, the Rojiblancos have another chance to secure one of the two direct promotion places.

The Andalusians are not even forced to win. A draw would be enough to keep Real Valladolid at bay. In the direct comparison, which is decisive in the case of equal points, UD Almería has the edge over Valladolid.

The Rojiblancos already beat Leganes 1-0 in the first leg. Almería thus remained unbeaten against Leganes for the second time in a row. However, both matches were played at home. On the other hand, Almería have lost four of their last five away matches against CD Leganes.

Leganes – Statistics & current form

CD Leganés have been winding down their 2021/22 season for a few weeks now. Nevertheless, the “Pepineros” by no means acted as a points supplier. Head coach Nafti’s team not only gave last-placed SD Ponferradina a leg up in the battle for the play-offs, but also defied leaders SD Eiber, narrowly missing out on a point.

It is quite possible that CD Leganés will also defy their upcoming opponents. The home record against the Andalusian guests speaks in favour of this. The “Pepineros” have not lost any of their last five home games against Almería. Leganés even won four of the last five home games against Almería.

If Leganés vs Almeria win another match, odds of 5.30 for tip 1 will be paid out. Head coach Nafti’s team has only lost five of 20 home games so far. Two of the five defeats have come in the last five home games, including the recent 3-2 loss to SD Eibar.

Will Leganés take the momentum from the Ponferradina match with them?

When you consider how strong the “Pepineros” presented themselves last week against SD Ponferradina, the next offensive spectacle of the Nafti eleven cannot be ruled out. Especially since a prediction of over 2.5 goals in the last two matches between the two clubs at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque paid off anyway.

Compared to the starting eleven that mastered last week’s match against the eighth-placed team of La Liga 2 with 3-0, the “Pepineros” are not expected to make any changes. Due to injury, only Vico will have to take a break in the host team’s ranks. CD Leganés will not have any other absentees.

Predicted line-up of Leganes:
Jimenez; Omeruo, B. Gonzalez, S. Gonzalez; Shibasaki; Garcia, Rentero, Munoz, Bustinza; Ibanez, Garces

Almeria – Statistics & current form

For UD Almería, promotion to La Liga is within their grasp. The Andalusians need just one point to secure direct promotion to the Spanish top flight in the season finale. A defeat, on the other hand, would threaten the promotion play-offs in a worst-case scenario – a Real Valladolid win against Huesca.

Last week, Almería surprisingly missed out on direct promotion to the Spanish top flight against last-placed AD Alcorcón. In what was supposed to be a compulsory task against the league’s bottom team, the Andalusian representative only picked up one point and thus lost the lead over chaser Valladolid.

In addition, SD Eibar took advantage of the situation and took over the lead with the better H2H. Now the Andalusians are under pressure to score in the season finale against Leganés. The last time Almería scored at the “Pepineros” was in May 2004, and since then they have lost two in a row at Leganés.

Is Almería showing signs of defiance?

Because they won four matches in a row in La Liga 2 before the draw against Alcorcón, CD Leganés are nonetheless understandable favourites. Almeriá have not conceded a goal in four of their last five games. The Andalusian defence kept the Leganés attack in check in the first half of the season and did not concede a goal.

It is rather doubtful whether the clean sheet will be maintained this time, especially since Almería conceded a total of twelve goals in the last five away games against CD Leganés. On average, the Andalusians have scored more than twice.

In addition, UD Almería will not be at their best for the match against Leganés. A total of three defenders will miss the season finale in La Liga 2 due to injury, including centre-back Chumi, the mainstay in the Rojiblancos’ back four.

Predicted line-up of Almeria:
Martinez; Pozo, Ely, Babic, Akieme; Puigmal, De la Hoz; Appiah, Robertone, Ramazani; Sadiq

Leganes – Almeria Direct comparison / H2H balance

This is the 14th time the two clubs have met. So far, CD Leganés leads the direct comparison against Almería with a record of 6-4-3. However, one of the three defeats came this season. Almería won 1-0 against the “Pepineros” in the first half of the season and thus remained unbeaten against Leganés for the second time in a row.

Before that, Leganés had two wins in a row against the Andalusians. Both matches were won by CD Leganés with 2:1 in their own stadium.

Leganes – Almeria Tip

For CD Leganés, the last matchday in the second Spanish league has no special significance. The “Pepineros”, meanwhile, are winding down the 2021/22 season and are no longer under points pressure. Nevertheless, the team in twelfth place in the table has not been a supplier of points, but has defied a number of promotion aspirants.

Among other things, Leganés only narrowly missed out on a point in their home match against SD Eibar, who currently lead La Liga 2. Last week, on the other hand, the “Pepineros” picked up a well-deserved 3-0 win at promotion hopefuls SD Ponferradina, giving their league rivals a promotion knockout

A surprise cannot be ruled out against Sunday’s opponents from Andalusia. The high odds on a home win therefore have value and are recommended especially for risk-affine bettors.

We dare to bet on Leganes vs Almeria at odds of 1.88 on over 2.5 goals in the match. Bets on this have paid off in the last four home games of the “Pepineros”. We are using five units for this one.
