With Euro momentum to the capital

There have been a lot of negative reports about Bayer Leverkusen these days. In the Bundesliga, they have lost a few feathers and were embarrassingly eliminated in the DFB Cup, but for the fact that this young team with the new coach and new hierarchies first has to find itself, the Werkself is playing a great season.

The Rhinelanders will look to prove that next Sunday in the capital when they host Hertha BSC. Before this fourth matchday, Bayer 04 are in fourth place in the Bundesliga table. Since the Champions League is the target, everything is in the green, even if things don’t go well for three or four games.

For Hertha, who as a big city club are also very ambitious, it should also be the top division, but the reality on the Spree is different. Behind Union, they are currently number two in the city and, in twelfth place, they currently have to deal more with the Bundesliga relegation battle. Therefore, we do not predict a home victory in the duel between Hertha and Leverkusen.

Tendentially, we rather see the visitors in front, who have gained fresh self-confidence with a win in the Europa League and are currently one of the strongest away teams in the Bundesliga anyway. Therefore, our first impulse in the duel Hertha vs Leverkusen goes rather to a tip on an away win.

Hertha – Statistics & current form

Hertha BSC is something of an unpredictable surprise package in the Bundesliga. High investments should flush the capital into the Champions League, but at the moment a possible Hertha relegation is more of an issue. And yet things have been going very well lately. The Berliners’ position in the standings alone can’t make anyone very happy.

The Law of the Series

After all, there have been three victories in the last four competitive matches. In their own stadium, victories and defeats alternate with nice regularity. In the last match at the Olympiastadion, there was a win against Gladbach. It sounds as if the odds on a win for the visitors in the Hertha vs. Leverkusen clash are now more attractive.

Last week, after three wins in a row, including in the cup, there was a defeat at TSG Hoffenheim. The Berliners were already 2-0 down at the break and overall it was a weaker game for the Dardai eleven. A quarter of an hour before the end, captain Dedrick Boyata was sent off and will miss Sunday’s match

With Lukas Klünter and Jordan Torunarigha more defenders are missing, but in return, the lazaretto has thinned out considerably. Marton Dardai and Marvin Plattenhardt, who were absent for a short time last week due to muscular problems, are back. Santiago Ascacibar, who has been out of form lately, could be given a break and is then likely to be replaced by Lucas Tousart.

Predicted line-up of Hertha:
Schwolow – Pekarik, Stark, M- Dardai, Plattenhardt – Tousart, Serdar – Richter, Darida, Mittelstädt – Piatek – Coach: P. Dardai

Leverkusen – Statistics & current form

You simply have to concede the young Werkself a brief period of weakness. After all, they usually show great enthusiasm for the game and set a hell of a pace, so you don’t reach your limits in every game. However, Gerardo Seoane’s team always manages to win the games away from home.

Away power Leverkusen

Away Bayer Leverkusen are still unbeaten this season. This applies to the Bundesliga, the Europa League and the DFB Cup. The Werkself has not been defeated away from home in eight games. In addition to five wins, there have been three draws. This means that we can imagine predicting a win for the visitors between Hertha and Leverkusen.

In the Bundesliga, the Rhinelanders are winless for three games, but the impression Bayer 04 made in the Europa League last Thursday was almost sensational. Betis Sevilla were played to the wall in the BayArena. The Spaniards were still well served with the 0:4. Moussa Diaby (2), Florian Wirtz and Nadiem Amiri were the goalscorers. The only downer was the late sending-off for Kerem Demirbay.

Perhaps that was the much-quoted “goat” that had to be overturned. In terms of personnel, the situation at Werkself has not improved significantly. Charles Aranguiz, Mitchel Bakker, Julian Baumgartlinger, Karim Bellarabi, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Patrik Schick will certainly continue to be absent. Lucas Alario is still a question mark.

Predicted line-up of Leverkusen:
Hradecky – Frimpong, Tah, Tapsoba, Hincapie – Andrich, Demirbay – Diaby, Wirtz, Amiri – Alario – Trainer: Seoane

Hertha – Leverkusen Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

To date Hertha BSC and Bayer Leverkusen have played 56 duels. The pendulum swings pretty clearly in favour of the Werkself in the direct comparison. The Rhinelanders are 27:15 ahead after victories. 14 duels ended in a draw. However, Bayer 04 has been waiting for a win against Hertha for four games and has not scored a single goal.

Last season, the two clubs initially parted with a goalless draw at the BayArena. The return match in the capital was then a clear affair for Hertha. The match was already decided at the break when the old lady made it 3-0 early on after goals from Deyovaisio Zeefuik, Matheus Cunha and Jhon Cordoba.

Hertha – Leverkusen Tip

You never really know what you’re going to see with Hertha. On good days, the Capitals always have what it takes to be a stumbling block even for the big clubs. Leverkusen, fourth in the table, must certainly be regarded as such a stumbling block. After all, Hertha have not lost to the Werkself in four games and have not conceded a goal.

Bayer 04 may now have overcome their little crisis. The 4:0 win over Betis Sevilla in the Europa League last week was a big exclamation mark, especially as the manner of this victory was outstanding. We’ll leave the last record against the Berliners aside and lean towards a tip on a guest victory between Hertha and Leverkusen.

We can imagine that many goals will be scored, as Gerardo Seoane’s team in particular has outstanding players on the offensive. But we keep the risk a little lower and don’t go for a handicap. Instead, we play the betting odds on a simple success for the visitors between Hertha and Leverkusen.
