Unstoppable Bayern

It would be extraordinary if FC Bayern did not win the autumn championship with the personnel they have. Julian Nagelsmann’s eleven have three games left before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to reclaim the top spot in the Bundesliga

The Munich side play the first of those three games when they host Hertha at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Saturday.

At the moment, Bayern are only second. However, that is less due to Julian Nagelsmann’s eleven than to the astonishing performance of league leaders Union Berlin. With 25 points, the FCB is one point behind the Eisern in the standings. Actually, however, it should only be a matter of time before Bayern Munich reclaims its place in the sun.

The old lady, on the other hand, is, as expected, back in the relegation battle. They currently have eleven points. This puts the Berlin team just two points above the relegation zone. This alone makes it clear that no special prophetic knowledge is needed to predict an away win in the duel between Hertha BSC and Bayern Munich.

In addition, Sandro Schwarz has faced FCB five times as a Bundesliga coach and lost five times. Julian Nagelsmann, on the other hand, has prepared a team for the Old Lady 13 times and thus not lost once.

Hertha – statistics & current form

One thing you have to give Sandro Schwarz credit for. He has managed to stabilise the old lady, at least to some extent. Hertha no longer go down after setbacks, as was the case more often last season. Nevertheless, the capitals are missing a few points to be able to take a breather. It will probably be a fight to the last minute to stay in the league this year as well.

Stable but few wins

The last seven Bundesliga games saw only one win. But the Berliners got this one in the last home game against FC Schalke. But that should not be a good omen, because in 2022 the old lady never managed two home victories in a row. On Saturday, too, we’ll save ourselves the trouble of looking at the odds on a three-pointer for the hosts in Hertha’s match against Bayern.

Last weekend, the home win against the Knappen was to be refined in the guest game in Bremen. Perhaps a point would have been enough for that and the Berliners were pretty close. However, it was clear that Bremen like to score late goals and so Hertha conceded the goal five minutes before the end to lose 0:1.

On top of that, Stevan Jovetic pulled his hip flexor and may not be able to play again before the World Cup. This means that Sandro Schwarz could perhaps switch from a 4-4-2 system to a 4-4-3. Marco Richter would be a candidate capable of filling out the new tactical scheme. Besides Jovetic, Hertha will also have to do without Marton Dardai, Jessic Ngankam and Kelian Nsona on Saturday.

Predicted line-up of Hertha:
Christensen – Kenny, Rogel, Kempf, Plattenhardt – Sunjic, Tousart, Serdar – Lukebakio, Kanga, Richter – Coach: Schwarz

Last matches played by Hertha:

29/10/2022 – Werder Bremen 1 – 0 Hertha BSC

09/10/2022 – Hertha BSC 2 – 2 SC Freiburg

Bayern – Statistics & current form

Although Bayern have repeatedly had to deal with personnel setbacks in recent weeks, Julian Nagelsmann’s team is in terrific shape. They have not lost a game in ten. The Munich side have won all of their last seven competitive games, including against the likes of Barcelona and Inter Milan.

Impressive form of the record champions

Munich are a team that likes to decide games early. The FCB has scored 24 of its 38 Bundesliga goals before the break. Therefore, it seems almost logical that the prediction between Hertha and Bayern must also go to a half-time lead for the Munich team. Jamal Musiala, in particular, is extremely goal-hungry early in games with five goals before the break.

During the week, Julian Nagelsmann’s eleven played their last group game in the Champions League. With a 2-0 win over Inter Milan, Bayern have once again played a flawless preliminary round, winning all six of their games. In this form, the FCB is certainly one of the top candidates for the title in the top division. Benjamin Pavard and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting scored the goals for the German record champions.

It seems that Manuel Neuer will return to the Bayern goalkeeper’s box on Saturday after his shoulder injury. Leroy Sane and Lucas Hernandez will also almost certainly be back in the squad. This has significantly thinned out the lazarette. Apart from Bouna Sarr, only Thomas Müller is likely to be out with muscular problems.

Predicted Bayern line-up:
Neuer – Mazraoui, Pavard, Upamecano, Davies – Kimmich, Goretzka – Gnabry, Musiala, Mane – Choupo-Moting – Coach: Nagelsmann

Hertha – Bayern Direct comparison / H2H balance

In total, the teams of Hertha BSC and Bayern Munich have faced each other on the pitch in 81 duels to date. The direct comparison speaks with overwhelming clarity in favour of the FCB, who are 48:12 ahead after victories. 21 duels ended in a draw. In the past seven games, Berlin have only picked up one point against Munich.

In the last season, there were even two clear victories for the FCB. The first was a clear 5:0 home win in Munich. The return match was similarly clear-cut when Julian Nagelsmann’s team prevailed 4:1 at Berlin’s Olympiastadion in January. Corentin Tolisso, Thomas Müller, Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry scored for Bayern. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp only managed a consolation goal for the Old Lady.

Hertha – Bayern Tip

The indications are that the spectators will see a more than clear affair at the Olympiastadion on Saturday. Hertha BSC and FC Bayern are worlds apart in terms of football at the moment. The Berliners have their hands full trying not to slip into a relegation spot, although that is not out of the question this weekend.

Only one win from the last seven games is not enough to pull away into the secure midfield. FC Bayern is a team that is in extremely good form and has won all of its last seven competitive matches.

The Munich side are the quick starters of the league and have scored 24 of their 38 goals in the first half. We expect the difference in quality to be noticeable even before the break on Saturday. Therefore, we have decided to play the betting odds on HT/FT of the guests in the duel Hertha BSC vs Bayern Munich.
