Back on track against favourite opponents

The capacity of the Olympiastadion in the capital will also be scaled down this weekend. Just under 40,000 spectators are allowed to come, but are hardly expected against FC Augsburg, because things haven’t been going well at Hertha lately – public rebuke for the coach of investor Lars Windhorst included.

The old lady is currently only number two in the city and there is not much to suggest that this will change in the short term. A win on Saturday against Augsburg should be mandatory to calm tempers again at the self-proclaimed Big City Club.

Hertha are in 14th place in the standings. The cushion on the relegation zone has already shrunk to three points. At least they have been doing very well at home recently and the Fuggerstädter are their favourite opponents of the last few years. That’s why bettors are predicting a slight home win in the Hertha vs Augsburg clash.

Augsburg is one point and one place behind the Berliners in the table. However, the puppet players come with a broad chest, as they brought the great FC Bayern to their knees in the Bavarian derby last week. However, home and away games are two pairs of shoes for the Weinzierl eleven and that is why we also tend to bet on a success for the home side in the encounter between Hertha and Augsburg.

Hertha – Statistics & current form

Hertha BSC just can’t get into the swing of things. From time to time, the Berliners show their class, but overall, the old lady is just not consistent enough. Perhaps coach Pal Dardai will act as a lucky charm on Saturday, as the Hertha coach has not lost any of his ten matches against FC Augsburg as a coach.

Derby defeat has repercussions

However, the Berliners are in a bit of a slump again at the moment. After only one point from the last three games, it’s not surprising that things got really loud in training during the week. The balance of the last few weeks doesn’t sound like the odds are in favour of a home win between Hertha and Augsburg.

The Herthans have been highly motivated in recent weeks. The derby with Union at the Alte Försterei was on the agenda. Everything the Dardai eleven had planned was thrown overboard early on. After half an hour, the Eisern were 2:0 ahead. Hertha were unable to counterattack and consequently suffered a severe defeat in the match for the city championship.

On Saturday, the Berliners will be hoping above all for the return of Stevan Jovetic, who has now been cleared again. However, with Dedrick Boyata still missing a mainstay in central defence, as the captain continues to serve a suspension against Augsburg. In addition, the injured Klünter and Darida are missing.

Predicted line-up of Hertha:
Schwolow – Pekarik, Stark, M. Dardai, Plattenhardt – Ascacibar, Serdar – Richter, Ekkelenkamp, Mittelstädt – Jovetic – Coach: P. Dardai

Augsburg – Statistics & current form

For a long time, not much went right for FC Augsburg this season. At least the Fuggerstädter have now managed to celebrate a few wins in their own stadium and so they were able to leave the red zone last week. The situation is still precarious for Markus Weinzierl’s team and it is still far too early to breathe a sigh of relief.

Bayern win gives momentum

Even away from home, not much is adding up. The last away win in the Bundesliga was at the end of February. Since then, they have remained winless in twelve away games, picking up just two points. That, in turn, is an indication that the forecast between Hertha and Augsburg can hardly point in the direction of a win for the visitors.

However, Augsburg got a very broad chest last week. FC Bayern were the guests, but FCA called off their best performance of the season, both football-wise and in terms of running, in this match of all matches. In the end, goals from Mads Pedersen and Andre Hahn were enough for a 2-1 victory. However, the last six Bayern defeaters have not won the follow-up game in the Bundesliga.

After a success over the record champions, there is hardly any reason for Markus Weinzierl to change anything in his formation. Niederlechner and Finnbogason may return to the squad after overcoming injuries. Tim Civeja, Felix Uduokhai, Tobias Strobl and Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee will continue to miss out due to injury.

Predicted line-up of Augsburg:
Gikiewicz – Gumny, Gouweleeuw, Oxford, Iago – Maier, Dorsch, Caligiuri, Pedersen – Hahn, Zeqiri – Coach: Weinzierl

Hertha – Augsburg Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

One year together in the second Bundesliga and nine seasons in the top flight mean that Hertha and FC Augsburg have played 20 duels to date. In the direct comparison, the Berliners have a relatively clear lead with 8:3 victories. Nine games ended in a draw. The Berliners have never lost a Bundesliga home match against FCA.

Moreover, the old lady won the last three Bundesliga games against Augsburg and lost only one of the last 13 encounters. The last match was at the Olympiastadion in early March. Benes put the Fuggerstädter in front after two minutes, but Piatek and Lukebakio with a late penalty turned the match in favour of the capitals.

Hertha – Augsburg Tip

You can’t ignore the momentum in this duel between Hertha and FC Augsburg. After all, the old lady lost the Berlin derby last week, while FCA got the upper hand at home against FC Bayern. However, it would be too little to rely only on these two matches before this weekend’s clash.

After all, the Fuggerstädter have not won away from home since February. In addition, there has only been one win against the Berliners in the last 13 games. The Puppet Masters have yet to win at all in the Olympiastadion.

In addition, whoever won against Bayern could not decide the next game in their favour. Will the Bavarian Swabians also suffer this curse on Saturday in the capital? In any case, we expect an act of defiance from the Berliners and play the betting odds on a home victory in the duel Hertha vs Augsburg.
