Character test at Borussia
Sometimes it is this one personnel that brings a club forward, or else plunges it into a deep crisis. The departure of Max Eberl was certainly one reason why Borussia Mönchengladbach is not doing as well as expected this season. RB Leipzig, on the other hand, have been on a steep upward curve since signing Domenico Tedesco.
The coach made his debut on the Bullen bench in the first leg. Since then, things have picked up 36 points. Only FC Bayern was more successful in this period. That’s why Leipzig can continue to flirt with renewed participation in the Champions League, even if the race for Europe will probably be tight until the final whistle on matchday 34.
Before the end of the 32nd matchday, RB has slipped to fifth place. But with a win in the Niederrhein, the Bullen could climb to at least fourth place, maybe even third.
The Foals have missed all their goals for the season. 13th place is a bitter disappointment. At least the topic of relegation is now off the table. Nevertheless, there will probably be a big clean-up at Borussia after the season. For the Bullen, there is much more at stake on Monday and therefore the motivation should be much greater. We think that between Gladbach and RB Leipzig you should do well with a bet on a success for the visitors.
Gladbach – Statistics & current form
The disappointment among fans and employees of the club over a minimalist season is extremely high. Borussia often looked tired and listless this season. For this reason, those responsible with coach Adi Hütter are looking very closely in the final games of the season to see who can be relied on in the future on the Lower Rhine. For some players, it’s now a matter of staying in Gladbach.
The Derby defeat is having an effect
At least the yield from the last Bundesliga games wasn’t that bad. The Foals have lost only one of the last six duels in the top flight. But this defeat came in the anaemic performance in the derby against Cologne. That’s why there’s so much resentment among the supporters at the moment. The players still have the chance to show their character.
However, we believe that the Bullen will be out of their league on Monday and that is why we are primarily looking at the odds for a win for the visitors between Gladbach and RB Leipzig. The Borussians did manage to pick up a point last week when they drew 3-3 in Leipzig. After taking a 2-0 lead through Ramy Bensebaini and Breel Embolo, Sportclub initially turned the game around before Lars Stindl equalised in injury time.
Embolo has thus scored four times in the last five Bundesliga games and at least the Swiss seems to still have desire for the last games. In terms of personnel, things are looking very tidy for the Foals ahead of the match against the Bullen. Laszlo Benes and Marcus Thuram will be missing, however. Whether Matthias Ginter will be fit for action again should be decided in the short term.
Predicted line-up of Gladbach:
Sommer – Netz, Bensebaini, Elvedi, Beyer, Lainer – Neuhaus, Kone, Hofmann – Plea, Embolo – Coach: Hütter

RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form
There are crucial weeks ahead for RB Leipzig. May could become the most successful month in the club’s history. Participation in the DFB Cup final is already certain. In addition, the Bulls want to go to Seville for the final of the Europa League. Either the title in the European Cup or the Bundesliga should be used to qualify for the top flight, preferably in both ways.
Impressive away series
A club can hardly be hotter than RB Leipzig at the moment. Domenico Tedesco’s team can still achieve a lot, but can also come up empty-handed. Current form, however, shows that the former scenario is more likely. In the last 16 games, the Saxons have conceded only one defeat. The Bullen have won all of their last eight away games. It is therefore not difficult to predict a win for the visitors between Gladbach and RB Leipzig.
On Thursday, Leipzig played the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Glasgow Rangers. The Bulls struggled for a long time. There was a lack of top-class scoring opportunities, but Angelino’s late goal was enough to secure a 1-0 home victory, which leaves all options open for the second leg in Scotland on Thursday.
With this squad, Domenico Tedesco cannot avoid rotating his players almost permanently. Basically, with the exception of Peter Gulacsi and Christopher Nkunku, all players are affected. But you can only do that if you don’t have too many injured players in the squad. In this respect, things look almost perfect for the Saxons. Apart from Amadou Haidara, all players should be fit for action on Monday.
Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:
Gulacsi – Simakan, Orban, Gvardiol – Mukiele, Laimer, Kampl, Angelino – Forsberg, Nkunku – Poulsen – Coach: Tedesco

Gladbach – RB Leipzig Direct Comparison / H2H Record
Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig have crossed paths a total of eleven times since the Saxons’ promotion to the Bundesliga. The direct comparison is very bitter for the Foals, as the score is 7:1 for the Bullen after victories. Three times there was a draw. The team from the Lower Rhine has no worse record against any other Bundesliga team.
The first leg in Leipzig in mid-December was Domenico Tedesco’s debut on the Bullen bench. It was already clear then what the team is capable of when it is well managed. Goals from Josko Gvardiol, Andre Silva, Christopher Nkunku and Benjamin Henrichs gave the Saxons a clear 4-1 win, with Ramy Bensebaini scoring Gladbach’s tying goal in the meantime with a overhead kick.
Gladbach – RB Leipzig Tip
Gladbach can probably live with just one defeat in their last six Bundesliga games. The defeat against 1. FC Köln, however, has permanently disturbed the relationship between team and fans. That’s why we don’t expect a particularly good atmosphere at Borussia-Park on Monday. That could play into the hands of the guests from Leipzig.
The Bullen are doing extremely well. The home defeat in the league against Union Berlin can probably be described as a slip-up, the only one in the last 16 competitive games. In addition, the Saxons have recently won eight times in a row away from home.
No other Bundesliga team has such a poor record against Borussia as against RasenBallsport. We think this match could be decided early on. A HT/FT bet on the visitors sounds interesting, but we remain conservative and have decided to play the betting odds on a normal away win between Gladbach and RB Leipzig.
