Will Eintracht shoot Hütter out of office?

As is well known, football writes the craziest stories. On Wednesday evening, another one could come to pass. If the prediction of an away win in Gladbach’s match against Frankfurt comes true, Adi Hütter, coach of the host team, is threatened with dismissal. This scenario would be curious in that the Austrian left Eintracht on the Main last year to join Borussia on the Lower Rhine. So far, however, without success.

The Foals are one of the biggest disappointments of the current season and currently have to make do with 13th place. They have recently suffered three defeats in a row, conceding a whopping 14 goals. The Hütter team is therefore very unsettled, which is why we are somewhat surprised that such low odds are being offered on a home win before the Gladbach vs Frankfurt clash. After the latest impressions, we would not see Borussia in the role of favourites.

So it might be a good idea to focus on potential bets on the guest. Another approach is to go for a high number of goals. On the one hand, because the host, as mentioned, defensively got no ground at all on the leg lately, on the other hand, due to the fact that in the last four Bundesliga duels of these teams alone, 20 goals were scored, i.e. an average of five goals per encounter.

Gladbach – Statistics & current form

At Borussia Mönchengladbach things are going haywire at the moment. The team that beat FC Bayern 5-0 in their own stadium at the end of October and thus prematurely shattered the record champions’ dreams of a treble is now nowhere to be seen. The offensive is mostly lukewarm and the defence, with 28 goals conceded, is one of the most vulnerable in the Bundesliga. Only last-place Greuther Fürth and Hertha surpass this figure.

This enormous number of goals conceded is primarily due to the last three matches, in which there were heavy defeats. The 1:4 defeat at the hands of 1. FC Köln was followed by an embarrassing performance in the 0:6 defeat against Freiburg and another 1:4 debacle at RB Leipzig at the weekend. No wonder, then, that Adi Hütter has lost all credit with those in charge, according to media reports. The Austrian is even said to have already actively offered his resignation.

Will Gladbach shoot themselves out of the crisis?

The omens could hardly be worse before the important home match against the SGE. It is therefore all the more surprising that the odds on a home win between Gladbach and Frankfurt are so low. In our eyes, too little attention and weighting is given to the current situation. The double chance or even the bet on the DNB 2 or the three-way away win are therefore definitely options.

Furthermore, there is not really much to suggest that we will see a low-scoring game at Borussia Park. Although the offensive has recently fallen short of their own expectations, the ailing coach Adi Hütter naturally has enough weapons to pose problems for the SGE defence.

Because the 2.5 goal mark has also been broken in two thirds of all BMG games, including the most recent four, we are confident that the few spectators present will once again see at least three goals. However, the Austrian coach will have to do without the suspended Lars Stindl as well as the injured Hofmann, Doucoure and Beyer. Changes in the starting eleven are very likely.

Predicted line-up of Gladbach:
Sommer – Scally, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini – Kramer, Zakaria – Embolo, Neuhaus, Thuram – Plea

Frankfurt – Statistics & current form

Not infrequently, the Frankfurt Eintracht stood for spectacular hurrah football in recent years. Adi Hütter also enjoyed a particularly successful time on the Main, even though fans continue to resent his somewhat surprising departure for Gladbach. For some SGE supporters, therefore, it would certainly be a satisfaction if his old team, of all teams, were responsible for the dismissal of the ex-coach.

A success for the visitors is by no means out of the question, after all, the Hessians have won four of their last five games in the Bundesliga and were in particularly impressive form in their 5:2 home win against Leverkusen on Sunday evening. For the first time since 2008, the Eagles overturned a 2-0 deficit and turned it into a victory. At the same time, it was the third time in the current calendar year that the red-white-blacks scored five or more goals in a Bundesliga match.

Frankfurt impresses with consistency

This also makes it quite clear why we prefer a bet on a high number of goals between Gladbach and Frankfurt. In 15 games, Kostic, Kamada and Co. have only failed to score twice. In the past five games in the top flight, they have always scored at least two goals, so we think the Hessians will do the same on Wednesday evening.

The only factor that could have a negative impact on the performance of the ninth-placed team in the table is the fact that Frankfurt are coming from one English week to the next. The strain of the Europa League and Bundesliga is accordingly high, especially as coach Oliver Glasner rarely rotated in recent weeks, instead usually fielding a well-rehearsed team. Even two matches before the short winter break, the Austrian is unlikely to change his approach.

Predicted line-up of Frankfurt:
Trapp – Tuta, Hasebe, Ndicka – Sow, Jakic – da Costa, Kostic – Lindström, Kamada – Borré

Gladbach – Frankfurt Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

Gladbach vs Frankfurt has been played 94 times in the highest German division. It is interesting to note, however, that the Frankfurt side have never scored more goals or won more points away from home than they have against the Niederrhein. Recently, however, the pointer has mostly swung in the direction of the Foals, who have won four of the last six Bundesliga encounters. Mönchengladbach have also won all of their last three home games at Borussia Park against the SGE. At least a good omen for the upcoming encounter…

Gladbach – Frankfurt Tip

The coaching constellation makes the match between Gladbach and Frankfurt on Wednesday evening a very special one. The Foals’ tamer Adi Hütter was still on the sidelines at Eintracht last year and did not necessarily say goodbye there. Consequently, many Hessian supporters wish their ex-coach failure.

However, if we look at the betting odds in the Gladbach vs. Frankfurt clash, the bookmakers think a home win is much more likely. We don’t really agree with this assessment, as the team from the Lower Rhine has lost three times in a row and conceded 14 goals. Furthermore, the SGE is in an outstanding form after four wins from the last five Bundesliga matches, which makes them an uncomfortable opponent, especially in Gladbach’s current situation.

We have nevertheless decided on an alternative bet and play the tip on the over 2.5 between Gladbach and Frankfurt. At Betway we find a 1.67 at the top, which is worth a stake of seven units to us. We also think that both teams will score. Especially Frankfurt should be able to exploit Gladbach’s defensive weaknesses, so that the DNB 2 can also become an option.
