Cup winners visit the ‘Azulones’!

Getafe will be visited by Betis Sevilla, the newly crowned winners of the Copa del Rey. The visitors claimed the triumph against Valencia in a penalty shootout about a week ago and celebrated winning the competition for the first time since 2005.

The visitors are also enjoying success in league action, in fifth place and still in with a chance of qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League.

In contrast, the home side’s bread is smaller. Instead, the “Azulones” are in relegation danger in 15th place in the table.

Getafe – Statistics & current form

Getafe finished 15th at the final reckoning last season and currently Coach Michel’s side occupy that position once again. The relegation zone, however, is only five points away, which is why the 2007 Cup runners-up are still struggling to stay in the league.

However, on the last matchday, the team won for the first time after two defeats against Real Madrid and Villarreal.

Getafe won 2-0 against Celta Vigo. On the other hand, it was a flattering victory, because the opponent was the better team, but on this day they forgot that football is still a results sport.

Both goals were scored by newcomer Borja Mayoral. With now already six goals in 13 appearances, the attacker has turned out to be the hoped-for reinforcement.

Mayoral arrived from Roma last January, where he made an immediate impact in his first season in 2020/21 with a double-digit goal haul, but the Spaniard was only sporadically considered in the following season and has now been on loan to Getafe for a few months.

Next goal by Mayoral?

Given his goalscoring prowess, betting on Mayoral’s next goal in the clash between Getafe and Betis Sevilla is also a good idea. The home side will also be looking for home advantage, having picked up 25 of their 35 points this season on home soil.

Predicted Getafe line-up:
Soria – Mitrovic – Djene – Cuenca – Arambarri – Florentino – Olivera Miramontes – Rodriguez – Suarez – Ünal – Mayoral Moya

Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form

The Green-Whites have of course gained a lot of self-confidence from their recent cup victory. This was also necessary – in the last league match, the Spanish title holders from 1935 suffered a surprising 0:1 home defeat against Elche.

An opponent who, like Getafe, is still threatened by relegation. Last year’s sixth-placed team, however, basically has a strong offensive – only Real and Atletico from Madrid as well as Barcelona score more often.

Iglesias is in particularly strong form

In this one, Borja Iglesias is currently presenting himself as particularly efficient in his finishing. The 29-year-old scored the Verdiblancos’ only goal of the regular season in the recent Copa del Rey final and has scored in four of their last seven competitive matches.

With this in mind, additional value can be located in the odds on Iglesias scoring another goal for the footballers from the Estadio Benito Villamarín at Getafe against Betis Sevilla.

Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini also has a top provider of assists in Frenchman Fekir. The 28-year-old has already set up seven goals for his teammates – a number only surpassed by as many players in the Spanish top flight.

Predicted Betis Sevilla line-up:
Bravo – Pezzella – Bartra – Moreno – Bellerin – Rodriguez – Carvalho – Fekir – Canales – Juanmi – Iglesias

Getafe – Betis Sevilla Direct comparison / H2H record

In the last direct duel, Betis prevailed 2-0. It was the second win in a row for the “Heliopolitanos” in this pairing and both victories were at home and without conceding a goal.

The away record is much weaker for the “Béticos” in this match: The southern outfit have lost in their last three visits to Getafe and all of the home side’s victories have come with a clean sheet for them.

Getafe – Betis Sevilla Tip

The hosts are fighting against relegation and the Andalusians for the Champions League. For the clash between Getafe and Betis Sevilla, however, the tip is for a draw.

The visitors are the stronger team, but the home advantage makes up for the difference in quality. The home side is noticeably more successful on home soil than away from home. They have lost only one of their last eleven home games (7-3-1).

Betis, on top of that, as just described, have always had a hard time away from home in the last few years. As both teams still have important season goals in sight, they will be similarly motivated

With these points in mind, it is impossible to pick a favourite. Furthermore, Michel’s home side have a penchant for this type of outcome this season, with a third of their 33 games ending in a draw – the sixth highest number in La Liga.
