Seven goals and constant twists and turns at the Partenio: Palumbo proves decisive in the closing minutes. Calò and Ghedjemis bring Frosinone level on points with Modena. Bortolussi saves Padova from defeat. Tiritiello secures the three points for Entella against the Tuscan side in the closing minutes
Goals, own goals, comebacks, and counter-comebacks. The early match of the 11th round of Serie B was a spectacle: at the Partenio, Avellino returned to winning ways after more than a month, beating Reggiana 4-3. After a dull first half, marked by Simic’s own goal and Insigne’s equalizing penalty kick, the match exploded in the second half. Biancolino’s team took the lead in the 50th minute thanks to Biasci, but within seven minutes they were overwhelmed by a brace from an extraordinary Novakovich, who made it 2-3 with a solo effort. Two minutes later, Simic made up for his own goal by equalizing. In the 70th minute, Palumbo became the match-winner of the afternoon with the goal that sealed the final 4-3 score. Frosinone won in Carrara (0-2) and temporarily joined Modena at the top of the table; Modena faces Juve Stabia on Sunday: goals by Calò and Ghedjemis knocked out Calabro’s men. Padova recorded their third straight draw: Bortolussi’s penalty five minutes from the end canceled out Merkaj’s goal, making it 1-1 against Sudtirol. At the Comunale in Chiavari, Tiritiello struck again: a winning tap-in off a free kick by Entella’s goal-scoring defender secured the victory for Chiappella’s team against Empoli. It’s the fifth goal of the season (all scored at home) for the center back born in ’95. Second loss in four games for Dionisi: still winless since taking over as coach of the Tuscan side. Palermo vs. Pescara kicks off at 7:30 p.m. The final three matches take place on Sunday: Modena vs. Juve Stabia, Monza vs. Spezia, and Sampdoria vs. Mantova.
