Relegation thriller in Andalusia
A real relegation thriller will take place at the start of the 35th matchday in Andalusia. The southern Spanish side from Cadiz welcome Valladolid and the predictions of the best bookmakers foresee a duel with slight advantages for the hosts.
While both teams are currently above the drop zone, the danger of relegation has by no means been banished. With four games left to play, they will certainly need to pick up a point or two if they are to keep their place in the league.
The home side have rarely been convincing in recent weeks, winning only one of their last six games. The poor goal tally in particular will give those in charge food for thought. No other team in the Spanish La Liga scored more rarely than the yellow-blue team. Nevertheless, the southern Spaniards are the favourites for the time being. In the duel between Cadiz and Valladolid, betting on the Andalusians is rewarded with odds of 2.23 at the top.
Due to the worse goal difference, the situation of the promoted team from Castile is even worse than that of the hosts. In addition, the purple and white look back on a longer losing streak. The newcomer will certainly have to tremble until the end of the season whether the goal of staying in the league will be achieved. We will find out who has the better end in this basement duel on Friday from 21:00 when the whistle blows at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.
Cadiz – Statistics & current form
For the third season in a row, Cadiz are now playing in La Liga since being promoted again. As a newcomer, the southern Spaniards finished a decent twelfth at the end of the season. But already last year, it was all about staying in the league until the last matchday. It was only in the last match that they managed to jump away from the relegation places with a victory over Alaves. This season, too, it seems to remain exciting until the end whether the yellow-blue team can avoid relegation.
In the 34 games played so far, Cadiz Club de Futbol has recorded eight wins and eleven draws. The total of 35 points is currently only enough for 16th place, and the lead over the first relegation place is just one point. Cadiz are currently level on points with their upcoming opponents, so a home win on Friday will allow them to build up a cushion on the Castilians.
No team scores less often than Cadiz
But in order to do that, they will have to eliminate the serious finishing weakness that has characterised head coach Sergio’s eleven so far. The opposing keeper has only been overcome 26 times. No other team has scored less often than Cadiz. Only last-placed Elche are as unsuccessful as the home side. No player of the hosts has scored more than three goals so far.
The defensive picture is not much better. 50 goals conceded is the fifth worst figure in the league. With these results, the poor position in the table is not surprising.
Of the last six games, the yellow-blue team only won against FC Valencia. The final score was 2:1 for Cadiz.
Apart from a goalless 0-0 draw at Espanyol Barcelona, there were four defeats. The heavy 1:5 defeat at Atletico on the penultimate matchday was especially painful.
The hosts will be looking for their second home win in a row
The successes at home in the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla are also very manageable. 21 points mean third last place in the home table. After a series of five games in their own stadium without defeat, the home side only collected full points once in the last five home games.
However, it is all the more important to score three points against their direct rivals in the relegation battle and to secure their second home win in a row. In the match Cadiz vs Valladolid odds of 2.23 are offered for bets on the Andalusians.

Valladolid – Statistics & current form
After just one year in the second division, the Pucalanos achieved direct promotion last season. A win on the last matchday saw the Blanquivioletas move past Eibar and secure promotion with Almeria. Now the aim is to stay in the league. This is proving to be a difficult task for the Castilian team.
After 34 matchdays, Real Valladolid have ten wins and five draws. The 35 points collected mean 17th place in the standings. The team of head coach Paulo Pezzolano, who took over in April, is only just above the bottom of the table, one point ahead of the closest rivals Getafe. The relegation battle in La Liga will certainly remain exciting until the last matchday.
Valladolid with four defeats in a row
The Pucalanos desperately need to end their negative run that has put the purple and whites in this ominous position. They failed to pick up a single point from their games at Valencia (1:2), against Atletico (2:5), at Rayo Vallecano (1:2) and against Sevilla FC (0:3).
Thus, the effect hoped for by the change of coach quickly fizzled out. After seven points from the first three games under Pezzolano’s direction, the start raised high hopes for better times. But in the meantime, the Blanquivioletas have come back down to earth.
The away record does not bode well for Friday night either. The visitors only managed to win three out of 17 games on their opponents’ pitch. In total, only eleven points were scored away from home. Accordingly, in the game Cadiz vs. Valladolid, with odds of 3.35 at the top, the guests take the underdog role.
Weak statistics in defence and offence
The purple and white team’s defence in particular should be a major concern for the coaching team. They have already conceded 60 goals, which is a respectable figure and the third worst in La Liga. But the offensive has not exactly covered itself with glory either. With 30 goals scored, the promoted team is more successful than the upcoming opponents, but it is still only the third worst value in La Liga. The best scorer is the Canadian Cyle Larin with seven successes.

- 14/05/2023 – Real Valladolid 0 – 3 Sevilla FC
- 05/05/2023 – Rayo Vallecano 2 – 1 Real Valladolid

- 28/04/2023 – Valencia 2 – 1 Real Valladolid
- 22/04/2023 – Real Valladolid 1 – 0 Girona
Cadiz – Valladolid Direct comparison / H2H balance
The two teams have met in 21 La Liga matches. The overall balance is almost even. The hosts have won six and the visitors five. In the first leg in Castilla, the yellow-blues had the upper hand with 1:0. Negredo scored the winner in the second minute of injury time. The bookmakers’ predictions for the upcoming match between Cadiz and Valladolid also see the home side in front with odds of 2.23 in the lead.
The two teams have also met several times in the second-tier Spanish league. Across all competitions, the visitors have now waited five matches for a three-goal win against the Andalusians. The last few games were never goal festivals. The last seven head-to-head meetings have all ended with less than 2.5 goals scored.
Cadiz – Valladolid Tip
Highly dramatic is the relegation battle in La Liga. While Elche have been relegated and Espanyol Barcelona are in danger of losing sight of the relegation zone, five other teams are still fighting to stay in the league. Cadiz and Real Valladolid are two teams that are only one point away from the first relegation spot. The hosts are most concerned about their poor finishing. No other team scored more rarely than the Andalusians.
The visitors from Valladolid, on the other hand, are looking back on a long losing streak. They have lost all of their last four games. They have only managed three wins on their opponents’ pitch, which also limits their optimism for the upcoming encounter on Friday. The men from Castilla have one of the weakest defences in the entire league.
Two of the most in-form teams meet on Friday night as they battle for survival. A feast for the eyes of football aesthetes is certainly not to be expected. Fighting and biting will be at the top of the list of virtues to be performed. Cadiz won their last home game against Valencia and we see the yellow-blues slightly ahead for the upcoming match.
We don’t expect a goal spectacle and whoever leaves the pitch as winner here will also be satisfied with a dirty 1:0. For us, betting on a game with a maximum of two goals in the duel between Cadiz and Valladolid at odds of 1.73 is a promising alternative.
