Rojiblancos want to get the frustration off their chest

In the Spanish LaLiga, the 15th matchday will be played on the first Advent weekend. The reigning Spanish champions have a relatively easy task on their hands. Although an away game in Andalusia is on the agenda, the starting position is clear for the match between Cadiz and Atletico Madrid. Anything less than a win for the visitors would be a big surprise.

The Simeone eleven suffered a bitter home defeat in the top flight during the week and must now tremble to progress. Nevertheless, the relegation candidates from Cadiz should not pose any problems. The home side are still without a home win at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium this season. Should this actually change on Sunday, the Cadiz vs Atletico Madrid clash will attract betting odds of over 8.00.

The Rojiblancos have not won their last three away games in the league (one defeat, two draws), but the difference in quality is considerable. Moreover, the direct comparison, which will be looked at in more detail below, speaks for itself. The match kicks off early on Sunday evening at 18:30.

Cadiz – Statistics & current form

The team from Andalusia finished in an excellent twelfth place in the table last season. Thus, the previous best season’s ranking from the 1987/88 season could be equalled. A year ago, the team of long-term coach Alvaro Cervera (in office since 2016) had a much better start to the season. After twelve games, Cadiz had 18 points; this season, they have just twelve points to their credit.

No home win

Twelve points mean 16th place in the current LaLiga table, with only a single point separating them from the first relegation place. The big problem for the yellow-blue team this season is their weakness at home. Last season, Cadiz scored more points away from home than at home.

Currently, Cadiz have eight points away from home, but only four points at home in the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium. The Andalusians have yet to record a home win, with four of their seven home games ending in a draw. Cadiz have just four meagre goals to their name. With an average of 1.86 goals per home game, no spectacle is to be expected.

Only in the 2:3 home defeat against CA Osasuna were more than two goals scored, otherwise the bet on the under 2.5 was always crowned with success. Odds of just over 1.70 are offered for this prediction between Cadiz and Atletico Madrid. However, doubts are certainly warranted with this bet, as the Simeone team from Madrid has not been stingy with goals in away games this season.

Blam at the bottom

However, given last weekend’s performance at Getafe, it is hard to imagine the Cadiz defence holding up against Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez & Co. At Getafe, the previous bottom team, Cadiz slid into a severe 0:4 debacle. This is the sixth time this season that Cervera’s side have failed to score in a league match, so Cadiz are a hot bet for relegation in their current form.

Predicted line-up of Cadiz:
Ledesma – Espino, Cala, Haroyan, Carcelen – Perea, Alarcon, Fernandez, Sanchez – Sobrino, Lozano

Last matches played by Cadiz:

LaLiga
11/21 2021 – Getafe 4 – 0 Cadiz

11/05 2021 – Athletic Bilbao 0 – 1 Cadiz

10/31 2021 – Cadiz 1 – 1 Mallorca

10/26 2021 – FC Villarreal 3 – 3 Cadiz

10/23 2021 – Cadiz 0 – 2 Deportivo Alaves

Atletico Madrid – Statistics & current form

The UEFA Champions League group of death could indeed be the final stop for Atletico Madrid, as things stand the Colchoneros would not even qualify for the Europa League. A late 1-0 home defeat to AC Milan leaves the Spanish champions in last place in Group B.

The defence is too vulnerable

For many years, the defence was the great showpiece under Diego Simeone. Hardly any team in Europe knew better how to save a narrow lead over time. The goalless draw on Wednesday was also basically a lead, but an inadequacy caused the dismal starting situation.

It has already become clear in recent weeks that the Rojiblancos lack defensive stability this season. Time and again, the Simeone eleven concedes an unusually high number of goals. Atletico Madrid conceded 0.66 goals per game in the entire 2020/21 season, and are currently averaging exactly one goal against.

There are a lot of goals scored in away games

Last season, away games for the eventual champions often featured meagre football. Only 2.11 goals were scored per game, which was the lowest value. This season, however, the Simeone team has shown a completely different side. In six away games, they have scored an average of 3.33 goals. It is particularly interesting to note that Jan Oblak has had to make at least one save in each of these away games. These statistics suggest the prediction that both teams will score in Cadiz vs Atletico Madrid.

Predicted line-up of Atletico Madrid:
Oblak – Hermoso, Felipe, Savic, Vrsaljko – Koke – Carrasco, Llorente, Lemar, Correa – Griezmann

Last matches played by Atletico Madrid:

Champions League Grp. B
11/24 2021 – Atletico Madrid 0 – 1 AC Milan

11/20 2021 – Atletico Madrid 1 – 0 Osasuna Pamplona

11/07 2021 – Valencia 3 – 3 Atletico Madrid

Champions League Grp. B

Cadiz – Atletico Madrid Direct comparison / H2H record

26 times this clash has taken place in the Spanish LaLiga/Primera Division so far, however, the majority of those games are not relevant to this weekend’s clash. In the 21st century, there were only the two games in the 2005/06 season and the two games last season. In three of the four games between Cadiz and Atletico Madrid, the prediction on the favourite was the correct choice. Last season, the Rojiblancos were unusually strong offensively against Cadiz and celebrated two clear victories with a 4-0 and a 4-2 win.

Cadiz – Atletico Madrid Tip

After the first defeat in the club’s history against AC Milan, Atletico Madrid will be looking to make amends in the league. Considering that they are already four points behind city rivals Real Madrid, a team like Cadiz should not be a stumbling block. Especially since the home side are anything but strong at home (no home wins) and most recently slid into a severe 0:4 debacle against Getafe. Accordingly, the hosts are considered clear underdogs and between Cadiz and Atletico Madrid, betting on the visitors is rated at just 1.53.

Betting on a handicap win for the reigning Spanish champions, on the other hand, offers even higher odds. A certain risk cannot be denied here, but there are enough arguments to underline this prediction for the match between Cadiz and Atletico Madrid.

In the last season, the Simeone eleven was able to win very clearly against the Andalusians twice. Griezmann & Suarez will certainly create some opportunities against the weak Cadiz defence (23 goals conceded, second weakest defence).
