Is FC Bayern finally through now?

While FC Bayern fought their way to a 4:1 away win in Freiburg last weekend, Borussia Dortmund failed 4:1 at home to RB Leipzig. This final setback for the black-and-yellows may have finally decided the championship six matchdays before the end of the season. After all, BVB are now nine points behind the German record champions again.

Meanwhile, the Saxons consolidated their fourth place in the table with a remarkably high away win at Signal Iduna Park and thus remain on course for the Champions League, while both of their direct rivals, Freiburg and Hoffenheim, lost ground. The Sinsheim side in particular, however, could get back into the fight for the top flight on this 29th matchday under their own steam. In the top match, TSG finally plays host to the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, there has been a lot going on in the bottom of the table. While FC Augsburg extended their lead over the first relegation place to six points with an important home win over VfL Wolfsburg and a victory in the post-match match over Mainz and pulled the Lower Saxons into the direct relegation battle, Hertha are back below the line after a 1-2 defeat in Leverkusen. Bielefeld occupy the relegation spot, while VfB Stuttgart, in 15th place in the table, are already in demand on Friday evening at home against Dortmund. In the top match on Saturday evening, Hertha will be fighting for important points against relegation in the Berlin derby against Union Berlin.

VfB Stuttgart vs. Dortmund – 08 April, 20:30

With the 1:4 home defeat against RB Leipzig, BVB probably said goodbye to the championship fight for good. With a view to the six-point lead that the black-and-yellows have on third place, this Friday evening match is therefore primarily about something for the Swabians, who are only one point ahead of the first relegation place.

VfB are certainly going into this game with momentum. The Swabians have been unbeaten for four league games in a row (two wins, two draws), while BVB have only managed to pick up one point out of a possible six despite a good second half overall. Accordingly, betting tips are interesting in the Bundesliga on matchday 29, which flirt with a point win for the Baden-Württemberger. A lot of value is offered by the double chance 1X.

Bayern vs. Augsburg – 09 April, 15:30

After the important away win in Freiburg, the Munich side could fully concentrate on the Champions League during the week, where Villarreal, however, turned out to be a tough opponent. In the end, the team from the Isar was well served with the 0:1, but now has to fight hard for the semi-finals in the second leg next Tuesday. This home match against the in-form Fuggerstädter, in which a high degree of rotation would by no means come as a surprise, is correspondingly ill-timed.

FCA recently won two consecutive league games in a row for the first time since September 2020 and, with nine of a possible twelve points from the last four games, are out of the woods for the time being. Moreover, the Bavarian Swabians already defeated the FCB in the first leg and can now play relatively freely at the Allianz Arena. The most interesting bets in the Bundesliga on matchday 29 are on goals on both sides in this Bavarian duel.

Wolfsburg vs. Bielefeld – 09 April, 15:30

VfL Wolfsburg lost 3-0 at FC Augsburg last weekend, their 15th defeat in 28 league games. Only in the 2003/04 season have the Lower Saxons lost more games so far, which is why the Wolves are going into their basement duel against the East Westphalians suitably ticked off. With only five points separating them from the relegation zone, Kohfeldt’s team cannot afford to lose.

The fact that Arminia will go into the match without any momentum speaks in favour of the VfL. Bielefeld have picked up just one point out of a possible 15 in their last five league games and have scored just one goal in those five encounters. In this relegation thriller, it is nevertheless quite complicated to make predictions on the outcome of the Bundesliga matchday 29. But at least not too many goals are to be expected, which is why betting on less than 2.5 goals is the obvious choice.

Cologne vs. Mainz – 09 April, 15:30

Both Cologne and Mainz are just two points apart in eighth and tenth place in the secure midfield of the Bundesliga table. During the current season, both have had their sights set on the European starting places. However, both have already experienced some setbacks in the second half of the season.

The Effzeh have already lost four games in the second half of the season since last weekend, which is the same number of league games they lost in the entire first half of the season. The zero-fives, on the other hand, have three defeats in their last five league games, which is why the Bundesliga is offering balanced betting odds for this clash on matchday 29. In our eyes, the most consistent betting is on goals on both sides.

Fürth vs. Gladbach – 09 April, 15:30

For a short time, SpVgg Greuther Fürth were allowed to dream of an upswing in league play after a dismal first half of the season. Then, however, the cloverleaf remained winless in six consecutive league games (three draws, three defeats), whereupon, with only 18 points still to be awarded and eleven points behind the safety net, planning for the second division is in full swing.

Hertha vs. Union Berlin – 09 April, 18:30

Just in time for the highly anticipated Berlin derby in prime time on Saturday evening, 1. FC Union Berlin managed to end their recent negative record. The Eisernen defeated 1:0 1. FC Köln last Friday and climbed back up to seventh place. The 41 points from 28 league games equate to the best haul the Köpenickers have ever achieved in the Bundesliga, despite minor wobbles in the second half of the season.

The Eisernen are accordingly favoured to travel to Hertha, against whom they have already won the first leg and the cup clash in the 2021/22 season. But: The Köpenickers have lost all of their last four league away games without scoring a goal of their own. A point win for Magath’s team, which has slipped to 17th place, is therefore not out of the question, which is why betting on the outcome of the match on matchday 29 in the Bundesliga is extremely complicated.

In view of the recent goal drought of the Ironmen, coupled with the basic defensive orientation of both teams, it therefore makes the most sense in the Berlin derby to switch to goal betting and bet on under 2.5 goals.

Bochum vs. Leverkusen – 10 April, 15:30

Bayer Leverkusen failed in the Europa League last 16 against Atalanta Bergamo. Since that defeat, however, things have been going well again, at least in league play. After a period in which the Werkself had only four points out of a possible twelve from four consecutive games, they recently scored two important victories in a row. They now have a six-point lead over fifth place, which means that the Rhinelanders are still on course for the Champions League.

On the other hand, VfL Bochum are playing their second best Bundesliga season in the current millennium with 35 points from 28 league games and are already out of the woods in eleventh place with a nine-point lead over the relegation zone. Most recently, however, the Blue and Whites have won only two of their last seven competitive matches. We therefore recommend using the betting odds for an away win for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Matchday 29.

Frankfurt vs. Freiburg – 10 April, 17:30

While Eintracht Frankfurt’s chances of qualifying for the Europa League again have diminished somewhat after a goalless draw against Greuther Fürth – they are currently five points off sixth place – SC Freiburg remain Champions League contenders. The Black Forest side remained unbeaten in six consecutive league games before the 4-1 defeat to FC Bayern and are only three points behind fourth place.

Christian Streich’s team will travel to the SGE with the Europa League clash against Barcelona still in their bones. Because the Hessians have only picked up 17 points from 14 home games this season and have been more vulnerable in their own stadium than at any time in the last eight years, it makes perfect sense to bet on the Black Forest side.

RB Leipzig vs. Hoffenheim – 10 April, 19:30

Things continue to go like clockwork for RB Leipzig under Domenico Tedesco. No team in the Bundesliga is currently unbeaten longer than the Saxons (seven games; five wins, two draws). No team scored more points in the calendar year 2022 (26). And no team has been undefeated at home longer than the red bulls (five games; three wins, two draws).

Although the Saxons also have an English week in their bones with the Europa League duel against Atalanta Bergamo. However, Tedesco’s side are the clear favourites against a battered Sinsheim side, who have failed to win any of their last three Bundesliga games (one draw, two defeats) and thus suffered a further setback in the fight for the Champions League. Accordingly, in the Bundesliga on matchday 29, betting on a home win for the red bulls is very playable even without hedging.
