Consolidate fourth place for Spurs on the south coast?

European League round of 16 finalists Brighton & Hove Albion have not won in three Premier League games (two draws, one defeat). As a result, the Seagulls have lost some of their grip on the European places. Hopes of a conciliatory end to the year are correspondingly high. However, Brighton’s home win against Tottenham is not the best bet. After all, the visitors from London have recently celebrated three wins in a row

In addition, Spurs are strong away from home. The Londoners have lost just one of their last ten Premier League games away from home (six wins, three draws) and have also scored at least one goal in 19 of their 20 away games in 2023. Since the Seagulls have also scored in their last 17 PL home games, it makes sense to predict a high-scoring match between Brighton and Tottenham

While the home strength of the south English side is certainly a factor. Albion have not lost any of their last seven Premier League home games (three wins, four draws). However, it should be noted that three of their last four home defeats in the league have come against teams from London. What’s more, the Seagulls have lost the last game of the calendar year against a London team three times in a row.

As such, we are leaning towards the visitors, although we believe it is essential to include the possibility of a points-split on the ticket. We are therefore betting on the double chance X2 and are also laying over 1.5 goals in order to do justice to the fact that a high-scoring duel is to be expected at the AMEX Stadium.

Brighton – stats & current form

Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club have experienced a steady upturn in fortunes in recent years, culminating in a sixth-place finish in the final table in 2022/23. Under Roberto De Zerbi, the team from East Sussex qualified for the UEFA Europa League for the first time.

Instead of paying the price on their international debut, the Seagulls even won the challenging Group B ahead of Olympique Marseille, Ajax Amsterdam and AEK Athens. As group winners, the southern English side now even skip the intermediate round and will not return to action until the round of 16 in March

Brighton only ninth in the Premier League

Parallel to this, however, the Premier League has been a mixed bag overall. The footballers from the south coast of England have recently gone three consecutive games without a win (two draws, one defeat) and are currently in ninth place with 27 points from 18 league games.

As things stand, Albion would have missed out on qualifying for another European competition, but of course still have plenty of time to move back into the upper third of the table in the course of a series. If the Seagulls win at home to Brighton against Tottenham, it would be a first step in that direction

De Zerbi’s boys are sure to score at home

The home record of Roberto De Zerbi’s team certainly gives them hope of picking up a point. The southern English side have not lost at home in seven PL games (three wins, four draws), although it must be noted that three of their last four home defeats in league action have come against teams from London.

Moreover, the Seagulls picked up zero points against Spurs last season. In their last 17 league matches, Brighton have scored on home soil without exception, which is why they can expect plenty of resistance. However, it remains to be seen whether that will really be enough for a win. In the last twelve Premier League home games, they have always conceded at least one goal…

Predicted Brighton line-up:

Tottenham – Statistics & current form

Tottenham Hotspur finished eighth in the final table of the 2022/23 season and missed out on qualifying for a European competition altogether. As a result, not only did they lack the arguments to keep superstar Harry Kane, but the lack of income from Europe also meant that, after a long period of poker, those responsible ultimately had to accept Bayern’s offer for financial reasons.

However, the goalscorer will certainly be missing against Brighton in particular. Tottenham have scored in six of their last eight competitive matches against the Seagulls, with Harry Kane responsible for at least one goal in each of those six games

Tottenham a force away from home

The Lilywhites bring plenty of momentum with them to the south coast of England. After a brief slump with just one point out of a possible 15 from five consecutive league games, Tottenham have recently recorded three wins in a row in the Premier League and thus defended fourth place.

Spurs, who also have a good away record, will travel to the game accordingly confident. The Londoners have lost just one of their last ten PL away games (six wins, three draws) and have also won their last two visits to the AMEX Stadium in England’s top division.

Spurs almost always scored away from home in 2023

With 37 goals in 18 games, Spurs also have the fourth-best offense in the Premier League, with the odds for a high-scoring game between Brighton and Tottenham also very favorable. After all, the north Londoners have scored at least one goal in 19 of their 20 away league games in the 2023 calendar year.

The focus could once again be on Heung-min Son, who has been involved in eight goals in his last seven PL games away from home (seven goals, one assist). The 31-year-old South Korean has scored 35% of all away goals in league action for the Lilywhites in the 2023/24 season (seven out of 20).

Predicted Tottenham line-up:

Brighton – Tottenham head-to-head comparison / H2H record

Head to head: 9 – 8 – 20

There have been a total of 37 meetings between the two teams so far and Tottenham Hotspur clearly lead the direct comparison with 20 wins. Spurs have won four of their last five competitive matches against Brighton and took the full six points against the Seagulls for the fifth time in their history in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Brighton – Tottenham betting tip

With a wafer-thin bias towards Spurs, there are even betting odds available on Brighton v Tottenham, highlighting just how tight things are likely to be on the south coast of England on Thursday evening. Moreover, both teams are certainly in their element. While the Seagulls are unbeaten in seven Premier League home games (three wins, four draws), the Lilywhites have lost just one of their last ten league games away from home (six wins, three draws). Both teams have been in a scoring mood for the most part

While Albion have always scored in their last 17 home games, Spurs have failed to score in just one of 20 league games away from home in 2023. The Brighton v Tottenham prediction for a high-scoring clash at the AMEX Stadium is correspondingly consistent
