Seventh Derby away win in a row for Chelsea?

A look at the top half of the table in the English Premier League shows two surprises. In particular, the “statistic climber” from the capital also presents itself absolutely competitive in the top flight. This weekend, a highlight is on the agenda for the Bees from London. At the Community Stadium, Brentford will host league leaders Chelsea.

After seven matchdays, the table obviously doesn’t have much meaning yet, but twelve points is an absolutely satisfying value for Brentford. That leaves head coach Thomas Frank’s side just four points behind Champions League winners Chelsea. A point against the Blues would of course be a surprise, however, and odds of around 2.30 are offered for this bet between Brentford and Chelsea.

Although Brentford managed a 3-3 draw against Liverpool in their last home game, the games of the promoted team are usually characterised by a lot of discipline and few goals. Safety first will probably also be the motto in Saturday night’s Premier League match. The match kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

Brentford – Statistics & current form

Sports betting football fans knew immediately that Brentford would be an asset to the English Premier League. The cribbed “Moneyball” system captivates many fans. But the unusual approach is also bearing fruit in the strongest league in the world.

Scored in all three derbies

Brentford were already represented in the English football top flight several decades ago, but the Premier League is currently a new terrain for the Frank eleven. And the promotion contenders with a strong game achieved a record just before the international break.

Brentford were the first team from London to score in each of their first three city derbies. After the opening win against Arsenal, Brentford achieved a goalless draw against Crystal Palace on matchday two, before defeating West Ham 2-1 on the last matchday thanks to a last-minute goal by Yoane Wissa (90+4). All in all, Brentford’s only defeat so far was a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Brighton & Hove Albion. In the remaining games, at least one point was gained.

Brentford are considered extremely strong at home

On their way to the Premier League, Brentford conceded just two defeats at home in 23 league games last season, which means that the promoted side is currently still without defeat at home. The strong home record certainly counts as an argument that betting on double chance 1X between Brentford and Chelsea is at least worth considering. With the exception of defensive midfielder Josh Dasilva, Brentford have all their players available early on Saturday night.

Predicted Brentford line-up:
Raya – Jansson, Pinnock, Zanka – Henry, Onyeka, Nörgaard, Baptiste, Canos – Toney, Mbeumo

Chelsea – Statistics & current form

As reigning Champions League winners who signed another absolute world-class striker in Romelu Lukaku, success is expected. Thomas Tuchel will be measured against winning the title in his first full season in the Premier League

Twelve different goal scorers

The Blues can be absolutely satisfied with their start to the season, despite the 1-0 defeat in the top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City. A look at the games so far shows that Tuchel is placing an extremely high value on the topic of “load control”. After the European Championship, many players only had an extremely short regeneration period, which is why Tuchel keeps rotating the squad.

In doing so, the German coach is in an extremely comfortable situation, because even in the 26-man squad he can rotate almost without any problems without any great loss of quality. This thesis is underlined by the fact that twelve different players have scored at least once this Premier League season. In PL history, only Arsenal had more different scorers after seven games in 2009/10 (13).

Chelsea become an away power under Tuchel

Before Thomas Tuchel took the reins in the English capital, Chelsea conceded four defeats in their last five away games under Frank Lampard. This away weakness has been blown away, as there has only been one defeat since then, but this has been countered by eight wins and three draws.

In total, the Chelsea defence has conceded only seven goals in these twelve games. In general, defensive stability has been a key to success under Tuchel. This strength, coupled with the promoted side’s playing philosophy, makes betting between Brentford and Chelsea that both teams will not score extremely interesting.

Predicted Chelsea line-up:
Mendy – Silva, Rudiger, Alonso – Chilwell, Jorginho, Saul Niguez, Azpilicueta – Havertz, Lukaku, Mount

Brentford – Chelsea Direct comparison / H2H balance

I doubt anyone will remember the last league match between these two teams. The two London football clubs last faced each other in March 1947. Accordingly, the head-to-head is not relevant at all.

In the recent past, there have only been two matches in the traditional FA Cup, and the Blues had no problems at all, winning 4-0 in both 2013 and 2017. But even those games are no gauge for the first league game in over 70 years.

Brentford – Chelsea Tip

Derby Time – but there is no great rivalry between the two clubs, after all there has not been a league game between the Bees and the Blues for over 70 years. Although the promoted team has been the big positive surprise so far, the Frank eleven is considered a clear underdog. For an away win in the Brentford vs Chelsea game, the odds are around a 1.60.

The favourite role of the Tuchel eleven does not need to be discussed, but value is still not to be found in the betting odds. The performance at the Community Stadium is by no means a foregone conclusion, as Brentford are considered to be very strong at home and can start with a great deal of self-confidence after their recent performances. The PL newcomer convinces with a very strong defence, which is also the reason for the betting recommendation. Six units are thrown into the race for Brentford against Chelsea for the forecast on the under 2.5 at fair betting odds.
