Will Getafe score a big point in Andalusia?

While the La Liga championship has long been decided, there is still a lot of tension, especially in the relegation battle. With three matchdays to go, all teams except Valencia in 13th place are still fearful of remaining in Spain’s top division. Only Elche, who are bottom of the table, have already been relegated. Two other teams will also be relegated to the second division.

Among the teams in danger is Getafe FC, who are currently in the last non-relegation spot but have played a disappointing round so far this season with only eight wins. Because only one of the past nine league matches has been won, it is therefore a big risk to predict a surprise coup for the visitors between Betis Sevilla and Getafe. Especially away from home, the men from the Madrid suburbs have been hard to beat lately in terms of harmlessness.

Apart from that, the mission of the relegation candidates is made more difficult by the fact that the Andalusian hosts also have a clear goal in mind. The southern Spaniards are desperate to secure sixth place and the Europa League participation that goes with it, and only need a three-goal win to cement that position.

With a view to the last results, it therefore seems the more logical choice to bet on a home win before the Betis Sevilla vs Getafe match. At the same time, not many goals are expected on Wednesday night at the late kick-off time of 22:00.

Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form

Not many teams can claim to have defeated a European Cup finalist this season. Betis Sevilla can. The southern Spaniards even beat AS Roma away in the Europa League group stage (2-1) and also picked up a point in the second leg in front of their home crowd. While Mourinho’s team still made it to the final, the Andalusians were eliminated by Manchester United in the round of 16.

Nevertheless, the Green-Whites naturally hope to be back in the second most important European club competition in the coming season. At the moment, things are looking very good, because three matchdays before the end of the season, the sixth-placed team is six points ahead of the seventh-placed team. Manuel Pellegrini’s side would have to collapse to lose out on a direct place in the EL.

Still one win away from the Europa League

At the same time, “Los Béticos” could also make everything mathematically clear on Wednesday. If the odds on a home win between Betis Sevilla and Getafe prove correct, the cushion on Bilbao would remain at least six points. Since the Andalusians also won the decisive direct comparison against the Basques in Spain, the remaining two games would only be of a statistical nature.

In addition to the undoubted motivation, the home advantage also speaks for itself in favour of “Los Verdiblancos”, who have won nine out of 17 home games (four draws, four defeats) over the whole season, conceded only 16 goals in total and have also taken 14 points from the last seven home games (4-2-1).

For this reason, among others, we are firmly convinced that the home team will not leave the pitch as losers on the one hand, and on the other hand that a maximum of two goals will be scored in the course of the match. Only in two of the past six home games would the bet on the over 2.5 have gone through. In total, only 2.41 goals were scored on average in the games in front of the home fans.

Getafe – Statistics & current form

Once Getafe FC gave the German record champions a run for their money in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup, only to be beaten after extra time. A good 15 years have passed since then. In 2016/17, the club from the Madrid suburb had to spend a year in the second division, but managed to get promoted again immediately. Now, after six seasons in the top flight, they are facing relegation to La Liga 2 again.

Although Getafe still hold a non-relegation place in the official La Liga table, the Blue and Whites would, as of now, have to make their way down to the lower tier after 38 match days. Because the goal difference is currently still weighted and the direct comparison comes into play at the end of the season, the “Azulones” would lose out to Real Valladolid. They lost the first leg against their league rivals 1-0, and the return leg will be played on the last matchday.

Will Pepe Bordalás save the club of his heart?

To avoid the big showdown in ten days, coach Pepe Bordalás’ charges have three games left to put themselves in a better position. The fact that the 59-year-old coach, who did an outstanding job between 2016 and 2021, is now back on the job could turn out to be a stroke of luck in that the relegation candidates immediately radiated more stability defensively under Bordalás.

Four matches were played after the Spaniard’s reinstallation. At first glance, four points do not sound particularly impressive, but they also conceded only three goals. At home, there was one win and one draw, while away from home there were two narrow 0:1 defeats, which can definitely be cited as an argument to consider the odds on under-goals or a maximum of one team scoring on Wednesday evening between Betis Sevilla and Getafe.

To make matters worse, last year’s 15th-placed team has only won two away matches this season, has the third-poorest away attack in La Liga with 12 goals scored, has not even managed to win a guest game in the Spanish top flight since the end of October and has also gone scoreless in four of their most recent five matches away from home. The relegation candidates, who are once again very defensive, will therefore not be brimming with self-confidence.

Betis Sevilla – Getafe Direct Comparison / H2H-Balance

With ten wins, ten draws and nine defeats, the head-to-head is narrowly in favour of the Green-Whites. At home, however, “Los Béticos” can look back on a very good record. Betis have only lost two of their twelve home games against Getafe (six wins, six draws).

Among other things, the Andalusians have also won twice in a row in front of their own fans. In addition, eight of the past ten direct encounters at league level have resulted in a maximum of two goals, which further underlines our Betis Sevilla vs Getafe prediction on few goals. The first leg was won 1-0 by the fifth-placed team in the table.

Betis Sevilla – Getafe prediction

Because the Spaniards are currently a little behind with their fixture list and still have three regular match days to complete, we are now looking forward to an English week in La Liga. Especially in the relegation battle, things are very tight. Several teams still have to fight for survival, including Getafe FC, who have a tough away game in Andalusia on Wednesday evening.

Although the home side still need three points to secure sixth place in the final standings, the betting odds on a home win between Betis Sevilla and Getafe are surprisingly high. Although it should not be forgotten that the visitors perhaps need the points even more urgently given their starting position, the players from the Madrid suburbs have not won away from home since the end of October.

Also under the new, old coach Pepe Bordalás, there were two 0:1 away defeats in which no goal was scored. The Azulones have failed to score in four of their last five La Liga outings, which is why we see the hosts as the favourites, taking into account the Pellegrini team’s good home record.
