Schnapsduell zwischen Bayern und Bremen

The fact that FC Bayern München has no problem at all with English weeks has already been shown again this season in the group stage of the Champions League. In the Bundesliga, too, the record champions are always strong during the week.

Of the last 25 league games on a Tuesday, the FCB has only lost one. That’s not a good outlook for Werder Bremen, who will be guests at the Allianz Arena in the English week.

Finally, the Munich team can relax when looking at the Bundesliga table. Last weekend they knocked the plucky Unioners off top spot. 28 points from 13 games is not a bad haul for the FCB, but it must also be said that Julian Nagelsmann’s team has been seen more confidently at the top of the table. SC Freiburg, the first team to follow, has only one point less on its account.

However, the record champion is currently on a very good run and therefore the first prediction in the duel between Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen can only be a home win.

After all, the promoted team from Bremen has made its best start to the season in eleven years. With 21 points, the Green-Whites are currently in seventh place. However, they probably won’t be able to maintain this position with an away game in Munich, as we tend to have to bet on a home win in the match between Bayern and Werder Bremen.

Bayern – Statistics & current form

Many football fans in Germany have hoped that there will be a long title fight this season. Currently, however, Bayern are already dashing those hopes again. Julian Nagelsmann’s team is in a brilliant form and has won all of its last eight competitive matches, and not infrequently in outstanding style.

Bayern dangerous especially before the break

With 41 goals, Munich are showing themselves to be extremely goal-hungry in the Bundesliga. Of these, the record champions have scored 27 before the break alone. These are clear signs that odds of more than 3.5 goals or HT/FT of the FCB can also be alluded to in the duel between Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen. After all, the Munich side have always scored at least four times in their last four home games in the top flight alone.

At the weekend, everything once again looked like an exhilarating football festival for the FCB. In Berlin’s Olympiastadion, Bayern actually decided the game after half an hour, when it was already 3:0 after a goal by Jamal Musiala and two goals by Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. Before the break, however, Hertha came back to 2:3 and even came close to equalising in the end. FC Bayern can certainly play down such a lead more confidently.

Personnel changes can always be expected in an English week. Alphonso Davies, who suffered a torn muscle fibre in Berlin and whose participation in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is in jeopardy, could be replaced by the recovering Lucas Hernandez. Matthijs de Ligt is likely to miss the start and Thomas Müller and Bouna Sarr are also likely to be absent.

Predicted Bayern line-up:
Neuer – Mazraoui, Pavard, Upamecano, Hernandez – Kimmich, Goretzka – Gnabry, Musiala, Mane – Choupo-Moting – Coach: Nagelsmann

Werder Bremen – Statistics & current form

Werder Bremen are playing a very unexciting season. The headlines that the Green-Whites produce are generally of a positive nature. Niclas Füllkrug, for example, is second behind Christopher Nkunku in the goalscoring charts and has already scored ten times this year. On Thursday, the Bremen attacker will find out whether he has made it into the World Cup squad of national coach Hansi Flick after all.

Get out of the valley

SV Werder still had to go through a bit of a dry spell in early to mid-October. In the meantime, however, Ole Werner’s team has got back on track. They won two of their last two games. However, the opponents were Hertha and Schalke, two clubs that have considerably less quality than their upcoming opponents. That’s why we’re sticking to our forecast of a SVW defeat in the duel between Bayern and Werder Bremen.

In the duel for promotion, Bremen had a very hard time at home against the last-placed Schalke last weekend. It was a game of equals in which the Green-Whites made better use of their scoring chances. Niklas Füllkrug and Marvin Ducksch scored to take a 2:0 lead. Nevertheless, SVW had to shake again after the final goal in the final phase.

By the time it got close, Niclas Füllkrug had already been substituted. The striker suffered a back contusion and could possibly miss Munich. Oliver Burke would be the logical alternative in Bremen’s attack. Anthony Jung should return to the starting eleven on the left wing after recovering from illness. Felix Agu and Jean-Manuel Mbom will continue to be absent.

Projected line-up of Werder Bremen:

Pavlenka – Pieper, Veljkovic, Friedl – Weiser, Gruev, Jung – Schmid, Bittencourt – Burke, Ducksch – Coach: Werner

Last matches played by Werder Bremen:

Bundesliga
06/11/2022 – Werder Bremen 2 – 1 Schalke 04

29/10/202 – Werder Bremen 1 – 0 Hertha BSC

22/10/2022 – SC Freiburg 2 – 0 Werder Bremen

DFB Cup
19/10/2022 – Paderborn (5)2 – 2(4) Werder Bremen

Bundesliga
15/10/2022 – Werder Bremen 0 – 2 Mainz 05

Bayern – Werder Bremen Direct comparison / H2H-Balance

125 times FC Bayern and Werder Bremen have faced each other to date. 111 of these matches were played in the Bundesliga alone. No pairing has been played more often in the German top flight. After Gladbach, Werder Bremen is the team in the Bundesliga that has inflicted the most defeats on the record champion from the Isar. Nevertheless, the direct comparison of 70:28 wins and 27 draws is clearly in favour of the Munich team.

This is also due to the fact that Werder Bremen have waited 29 games for a win against Bayern. However, the last time the Green-Whites played at the Allianz Arena, it was a 1-1 draw in SVW’s relegation season, with the last ever meeting taking place at the Weserstadion in March 2021. Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski put Bayern 3-0 up before Niclas Füllkrug scored the late consolation goal.

Bayern – Werder Bremen Tip

Werder Bremen are playing like they were never relegated this season as a promoted team in the Bundesliga. The Green-Whites have made a strong start to the season and if it were not against the overpowering Bayern, one might well consider betting on a point win for Bremen. After all, they have recently won two matches in a row.

However, the record-breaking team’s record is worthy of the best German team. They have won eight of their last eight matches. What’s more, the Munich team always starts off like a fire brigade.

In general, it’s always hard to find odds with decent value in a Bayern game. However, if we look at the fact that Munich have always scored at least four goals on their own in their last three home games, then betting on over-goals should be a good choice. We have therefore decided to place a bet on more than 3.5 goals in the Bayern vs Werder Bremen clash.
