Will Bayern stumble over the Bullen?
There is always a special charm when the champions from Germany and Austria face each other in the European Cup. The small neighbour from the south is trying to rebel again this season and is doing everything it can to knock FC Bayern out of the competition. At the Allianz Arena, however, the stakes are very high for RB Salzburg.
The Austrians will, however, try to become the first team since Austria Wien in the 1984/85 season to reach a quarter-final in the European Champion Clubs’ Cup or the Champions League. However, Bayern Munich are one of the favourites to win the top flight and it is therefore clear that the odds on a home win in this duel must be extremely low.

Red Bull Salzburg are once again much further ahead than FC Bayern in terms of the national championship. Just how clear the Bulls’ role is in Austria is made clear by their lead over second-placed Sturm Graz. The Salzburgers have 18 points more on their account. There are not even any remaining doubts about the next championship for Matthias Jaissle and his players.
Away things could be better
The aim now is to put an exclamation mark on the Champions League. However, the Bullen have never won in the Champions League on German soil. Admittedly, there have already been successes in the Europa League in Dortmund and Leipzig. The Austrians have had a lot of worries lately because of numerous positive test results. 17 Salzburg players alone were affected. However, all players without exception have reported fit again for Tuesday’s match. There are no injuries at the moment and so Matthias Jaissle can go into this important match in Munich with his preferred team.
