Will the record champions halt the momentum of the Saxons?

Four games, four wins, 10:1 goals – that’s RB Leipzig’s record in the 2022 calendar year. The Saxons not only reached the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal, but also returned to sixth place in the Bundesliga after three wins in a row. They are only three points off the Champions League starting spot they are aiming for.

Now, however, the Red Bulls are hosting the in-form German record champions, who, with 49 out of a possible 60 points, lead the table by a commanding six points over Dortmund. In the run-up to the match between Bayern and RB Leipzig, the odds are clearly in favour of the Munich side.

Adding to the 18 points already separating the two clubs in the Bundesliga table is the Red Bulls’ away record. RBL have only won one of their nine away games in the Bundesliga and have scored just seven goals away from home – the third worst record in the Bundesliga.

Accordingly, the bet on a clear victory for Bayern against RB Leipzig is good. We recommend betting on a three-goal home win with at least a two-goal difference (AHC -1.5).

Bayern – Statistics & current form

On the one hand, FC Bayern München are playing a very dominant season, but on the other hand they cannot be completely satisfied despite the fourth-best Bundesliga haul ever achieved by a team after 20 matchdays (49 out of a possible 60 points).

The mood in the camp of the German record champions is still clouded by their elimination in the 2nd round of the DFB Cup, especially since the men from the Isar went down 0:5 to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Won 16 of the 20 Bundesliga games so far

There have also been a total of three defeats in league play.

With 16 wins from their 20 games so far, however, they still have a comfortable six-point lead over Borussia Dortmund in terms of the championship.

In addition, the FCB can also expect to win the Champions League. In the preliminary round, they won all six games by a clear margin of 22:3 goals, although the Munich team was blessed with the luck of the draw in the round of 16 and are heavy favourites against FC Salzburg.

None of the last eight competitive games against Leipzig lost

Former Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann’s side are now in the same favourites’ role against the Red Bulls, who have not lost any of their last eight competitive matches (four wins, four draws).

On a positive note, the Munich team’s medical staff has emptied out. Apart from the two Africa Cup participants Choupo-Moting and Sarr, only Davies (heart muscle inflammation) and Goretzka (patella tendon problems) are currently missing. Accordingly, Julian Nagelsmann can also fully adapt tactically to his former employer.

Predicted Bayern line-up:

RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form

RB Leipzig are slowly but surely recovering from their most complicated season since promotion to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2016. After finishing runners-up at the first attempt, finishing every single season in the top six and always qualifying for Europe, the Saxons did not get off to a good start.

Accordingly, adjustments were already being made on the coaching bench, where Domenico Tedesco took over for the hapless Jesse Marsch at the beginning of December. A change that paid off, especially in the new year.

Won all four must-win games in 2022 at 10-1 goals

Lastly, the red bulls finally won all four of their competitive matches in the calendar year 2022 at a total of 10:1 goals. Among other things, RBL once again punched their ticket to the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal.

All the way to the quarter-finals.

However, the Saxons also returned to sixth place in the league with three wins in a row, most recently ending their away misery in Stuttgart. After failing to win their first eight league games away from home, RBL snapped that knot with a 2-0 win at the Swabians.

The third weakest away attack in the Bundesliga

Now, however, the in-form Leipzig side face their toughest test of the new year when they look to confirm their recent run of form at the German record champions, of all teams, where they have never before managed an away win.

Bayern’s betting on a point against RB Leipzig is correspondingly ill-starred, as the Saxons come to the Allianz Arena with the third-worst away attack in the Bundesliga, having scored just seven goals on foreign soil.

Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:
Gulasci – Gvardiol – Orban – Simakan – Angelino – Kampl – Laimer – Klostermann – Nkunku – Poulsen – Silva

Bayern – RB Leipzig Direct comparison / H2H balance

Head to head: 8 – 4 – 1

There have been a total of 13 meetings between the two teams so far and with eight wins, the majority of all duels have gone to the FCB, who also won the first leg in Leipzig on 11 September 2021 by a clear 4:1 margin.

Bayern – RB Leipzig Tip

For Bayern against RB Leipzig, the prediction goes clearly in the direction of the German record champions despite the form high of the resurgent Saxons, who surprisingly lost their last home game against Gladbach with 1:2, but then immediately presented themselves as dominant as ever with two clear victories. A big advantage for the Reds is not only their weakness away from home, but also the fact that tactician Julian Nagelsmann knows the Saxons inside out.

There is a lot to suggest that FC Bayern will not only win this home match, but will also be able to clinch a comfortable victory with at least a two-goal difference.

We recommend the Asian handicap of -1.5, for which betting odds of 2.08 are available on Bayern vs RB Leipzig.
