Will RB get their seventh away win in a row?

An extremely exciting quarter-final is taking place in this year’s UEFA Europa League. After the first legs, none of the four matches have been decided in advance, so we can look forward to a dramatic second-round matchday.

We take a look at the clash between the Italians from Bergamo and the German representatives RB Leipzig. After the 1-1 draw, both teams can still hope to reach the next round. The opponent in the possible semi-final will be determined between Sporting Braga and Glasgow Rangers.

The visitors from Leipzig are playing an outstanding second half of the season and are at the top of the corresponding table ahead of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The Bullen look back on a long series without defeat and have certainly not written off the jump to the next round of international competition. The bookmakers are not too optimistic and offer odds of 2.65 at the top for a bet on the red and whites in the match Atalanta Bergamo vs RB Leipzig.

The hosts from Lombardy are fighting for a place in international competition in Serie A again. The Champions League places are already somewhat out of reach, but at least the Europa or Conference League is still within the realms of possibility. Kick-off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo is at 18:45 on Thursday and a full house can be expected with 25,000 spectators.

Atalanta Bergamo – Statistics & current form

Atalanta Bergamo have finished third in Serie A three times in a row. The black and blue qualified for the Champions League, where the men from Lombardy faced Manchester United, Villarreal CF and Young Boys from Bern.

In the six group matches, the Bergamo men managed only one win, so that at the end they finished third and thus continued in the Europa League. Until the last matchday, head coach Piero Gasperini’s team had it in their own hands to make it to the last 16 of the most lucrative club competition, but a 2:3 defeat on the last matchday against the Spanish representatives shattered all dreams.

Mediocre in the league

This season, things are not going as smoothly in the league as they have in previous years. La Dea” has collected 51 points from the 31 games played so far, with 14 wins and nine draws. The gap to the Champions League places is eleven points and the two Roman clubs in fifth and sixth place are also slowly pulling away from the black and blue. The gap to AS Roma, who currently occupy the Europa League spot, is six points.

Atalanta’s attack has beaten the opposing keeper 53 times so far. The most successful scorer in Serie A is Croatian Mario Pasalic, who has scored nine times. Keeper Musso has had to fish the ball out of his own goal 36 times.

Atalanta with four wins in the Europa League

In the sixteen-final of the EL, the Italians had to deal with the Greek representatives Olympiakos Piraeus. After a narrow 2-1 first leg win, the Nerazzurri made everything clear in the second leg with a 3-0 win in Piraeus and secured their place in the last 16, where they faced Bayer Leverkusen. Here, too, the Bergamo side won twice, 3:2 and 1:0.

Now the tough second leg against the Bullen from Leipzig is just around the corner. In the match between Atalanta Bergamo and RB Leipzig, bets on the home side are sweetened with odds of 2.65 at the top. After two defeats in a row in the league against Napoli (1:3) and at Sassuolo (1:2), the hosts are doomed to win if the season is not to be put to bed early, as the black and blue are also out of the Copa.

Predicted line-up of Atalanta Bergamo:

RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form

Leipzig’s path to the quarter-finals is very similar to that of the Italians. As last season’s runners-up, the Rasenballers first started in the Champions League. In the tough Group A, the Red and Whites had to deal with PSG and the Citizens, leaving only FC Brugge behind them in the final standings.

Thus, the guests also continued the international competition in the Europa League. The Bullen got rolling in the top flight too late. After three defeats from the first three games, the train had left the station early. But the 2:1 against Manchester City and the 2:2 against PSG made people sit up and take notice at the end of the group stage.

Leipzig are unbeaten in 14 games

The games are part of an incredible series that the visitors started. The Bullen have now gone 14 games without defeat. Domenico Tedesco, who took over the team from Jesse Marsch last December, certainly deserves a lot of credit for this. Under him, the red and whites have returned to full strength and are at the top of the second-round table, three points ahead of Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.

As a result, the visitors are now also back on course for the Champions League in the Bundesliga. With 51 points from 29 games, the Red and Whites are currently in fourth place in the table. Leverkusen in third place are within striking distance and pressure from behind is only being built up by Freiburg.

RB with six away wins in a row

The Red-Whites’ away performances have also been impressive in recent weeks. The last six games on the opponent’s pitch were all won. Most recently, the 4:1 win at Signal Iduna Park against BVB was particularly impressive. In Italy, the visitors are the outsiders for the time being. The bookmakers are not predicting a positive result for Atalanta Bergamo against RB Leipzig.

With 64 goals scored, the Saxons have the fourth best offence in the Bundesliga. The Frenchman Christopher Nkunku has been in excellent form for weeks and is third in the scorer ranking with 17 goals. The 31 goals conceded are second best in the league.

Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:
Gulacsi – Gvardiol, Orban, Klostermann – Angelino, Laimer, Kampl, Mukiele – Olmo, Silva, Nkunku

Atalanta Bergamo – RB Leipzig Direct comparison / H2H balance

The first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals was the first clash between the two teams. In a varied match, there was everything a footballer’s heart could desire. Goals, a missed penalty and four aluminium goals.

The bottom line was a deserved 1-1 draw and thus still every chance of progressing for both teams. The bookmakers see the match as completely open and are more likely to predict a semi-final with the Italians in the match between Atalanta Bergamo and RB Leipzig. A win bet on the black and blue is rewarded with odds of 2.65.

Atalanta Bergamo – RB Leipzig Tip

Four exciting second legs await the fans in the Europa League. In our opinion, everything is still open between Bergamo and the Bulls as well. Although the form of recent weeks speaks in favour of the guests, some bookmakers see the home side with a slight advantage.

They have suffered two defeats in Serie A recently and have fallen behind in the fight for international places. Winning the Europa League may be their last chance to stay in the international race next year. With the draw in the first leg, the Nerazzurri at least created a good starting position to make it to the semi-finals.

We are, however, impressed by the Red and Whites’ run of 14 games without defeat. Already at Real Sociedad, the bulls proved after a 2:2 in front of their own fans that there is enough self-confidence to also bring about the decision away from home. Our recommendation for the game Atalanta Bergamo vs. RB Leipzig is therefore to bet on the visitors to progress, with odds of 2.00 at the top.

A little more risky is the bet in the three way segment, where we risk a small bet on a victory for the red and white in the match Atalanta Bergamo vs. RB Leipzig, at odds of 2.65.
