Scoring second half at Villa Park?

The struggling Aston Villa side await the Londoners from West Ham. The home side are on a run of three defeats. Especially the defence has been vulnerable lately. In the last two league games against the Gunners and Wolves, three goals were conceded in each game.

The visitors, for their part, travel with a win against Tottenham from last matchday and are in a very good fourth place in the British top flight table. For the match at Villa Park between Aston Villa and West Ham, the tip is aiming for more than 1.5 goals in the second half of the match

Aston Villa – Statistics & current form

The Birmingham players have lost three times recently, but with the exception of the last defeat at Arsenal, the performance was still good. As described, this does not apply to the defence, but the offence continues to be reliable. Only against Chelsea on matchday four did they fail to strike.

Among other things, the purchase of Danny Ings has paid off. With five direct and indirect goal contributions already, the former Saints striker has made a powerful introduction to the Villans.

Ings has remained pale against the Hammers so far

However, the upcoming opponents do not suit him: against no other team in the Premier League has he gone without a goal more often. In total, there have already been nine games and eight of these games were lost for his respective team (0-1-8).

The attack of the Football League’s founding members has also been particularly prolific on home soil, with Dean Smith’s side scoring eight of their 13 goals this season and averaging a respectable two goals of their own at Villa Park – third best in the Premier League!

More than two goals by the final whistle at Villa Park?

With this in mind, the odds on more than 2.5 goals in the match between Aston Villa and West Ham also come with value. A course of play that has also been seen in two thirds of the games between the two rivals this season.

West Ham – Statistics & current form

The Irons are once again going strong after a sixth-place finish to close out last year’s campaign. In addition to the successful season so far in the Premier League, the kickers from the East End are equally convincing in the Europa League: All three group games were successful.

In addition, opponents such as Rapid Vienna and Genk were always beaten to nil. In the league, however, the defensive performances are somewhat weaker. The 1:0 against Tottenham on the last matchday was only the third clean sheet of the season.

Coufal’s call-up is still questionable

The visitors also have to do without Vladimir Coufal in defence at the moment. The Czech is otherwise a fixture in the backline of the three-time FA Cup winners, which is why his absence significantly weakens the defence.

He did make a ten-minute appearance in the EFL Cup this week, but it is unlikely that he will get much more playing time. The visitors, however, were able to celebrate a triumph in the match: in a penalty shootout, the winner of the competition from the past four years was defeated in the shape of Manchester City!

In addition, although West Ham have already gone two league games without conceding a goal with their recent 1-0 win over Spurs, the last one was mainly the result of an inadequate offensive performance by Tottenham and the previous one by the Toffees due to their injury-related personnel problems in attack.

In their own attack, however, Michail Antonio is once again convincing. The Jamaican striker has become the club’s top goal scorer in Premier League history this season and has already scored six goals in his eight appearances this term. He also scored the decisive goal against Spurs last weekend.

Will Antonio strike again?

Only Mo Salah of the Reds (15) also has more scoring points than Antonio with nine. Given that, odds on his next goal are additionally a good idea in the match between Aston Villa and West Ham.

Fabianski – Zouma – Ogbonna – Cresswell – Johnson – Soucek – Rice – Bowen – Benrahma – Fornals – Antonio

The last time the 1982 European Cup winners and the Capitals faced each other was last February. On that occasion, the Hammers scored a 3-1 away win. Thanks to that success, the visitors are unbeaten in six meetings (3-3-0).

For the next edition of Aston Villa vs West Ham, the odds are nevertheless very evenly distributed.

Aston Villa – West Ham Tip

The seven-time English champions from Birmingham, last 40 years ago, have recently gone off the rails. With three defeats in a row, last year’s eleventh-placed team has slipped to 13th in the Premier League. However, the performances were not as bad as the results suggest.

For the duel between Aston Villa and West Ham, the tip includes more than one goal in the second half. Despite the defeats, the Lions’ attack can be said to be in reliable form, especially in home games. At the same time, the visitors’ offensive is in no less good shape.

In addition, they show a parallel in terms of a clearly more offensive orientation after the break. Eleven of the Lions’ 13 goals this season have come in the second half – second only to Crystal Palace at 85 per cent.

The visitors are only slightly below that with 75 per cent, or 12 of 16 goals scored this season, the fourth highest in the league. Unibet offers betting odds of 1.98 for the clash between Aston Villa and West Ham.
