The Norwegians finished 23rd with 9 points, but pulled off upsets against City and Atletico

Inter will face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League playoffs, the team based just above the Arctic Circle. But the Norwegians have proven they’re not just a force to be reckoned with on their own synthetic turf: on Wednesday, they went and won at Atletico Madrid. Before that, they had given Juventus a run for their money, drawn with Borussia, and won 3-1 against Guardiola’s City.

The star is Janse Petter Hauge. With 4 goals in 8 Champions League matches, former Milan player Jens Petter Hauge is Bodo Glimt’s key player. A right winger born in 1999 whose best weapons are his speed and dribbling, Hauge is aiming straight for a call-up to the World Cup in the U.S. with Norway, for whom he already has 13 appearances and one goal. Kjetil Knutsen, the coach since 2018, is the architect of four national titles in five years and Champions League qualification. Their league season ended in November and will resume in mid-March, and during this period they have played only in the Champions League. Bodo’s field has been artificial turf since 2006, usually an advantage for the home team, as is their habit of playing in cold weather.
