Will the Seahawks get their first win?

It’s time for the NFL again – even if it’s only the preseason for now. Nevertheless, this 2022 has also been eagerly awaited, as many personnel decisions are pending in the clubs. Here we only have to take the Seattle Seahawks.

They host the Chicago Bears in their second NFL preseason game and want to make another step forward in deciding who will be their starting quarterback. At the moment, newcomer Drew Lock seems to have the slight edge here.

Since Lock was convincing in the first game against Pittsburgh with 102 yards and two touchdowns, we expect him to be preferred to Geno Smith again on Thursday against Chicago. That consistency could give them a decisive advantage.

The Bears, on the other hand, sent their first three quarterbacks onto the field in their first meeting with the Chiefs, with their No. 2 Trevor Siemian getting the most playing time. That rotation could repeat itself on Thursday, making it more difficult for the team to settle in quickly.

So for Seahawks vs. Bears, our prediction is a home team win, with the projected 37.5-40.5 points also likely to be exceeded. The Seahawks in particular are looking to get their offence in shape.

Kickoff of the second NFL Preseason Game for both teams is Friday night at 02:00 in Seattle. In the coming weeks, the betting community will have several more exciting NFL Preseason games on tap. The perfect way to get in the mood for the NFL season.

Seattle Seahawks – Statistics & current form

The Seahawks will have a difficult season ahead of them. All the experts agree on that. It would be a bit of a surprise if they didn’t finish last in the NFC West. That’s why there are already a lot of question marks in the squad.

Of course, the preseason games are very well suited for that. Above all, there is the question of which quarterback will be in the lead on the first day of the game. At the moment, everything looks like Drew Lock, who was convincing against the Steelers on the first day of the preseason.

Lock or Smith?

Lock threw for only one more yard than Geno Smith (102 to 101), but he completed more passes and threw two touchdowns. Since he is also six years younger, the Seahawks will probably try to see if Lock can actually follow in the big footsteps of Russell Wilson.

But there are still some question marks in the team otherwise. Who will morph into the go-to guys behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett at the wide receiver position? Who can fill the void left by the departure of Bobby Wagner?

Dallas and Melton take their chances

Among the wide receivers, it is currently Bo Melton who is making the best impression. But another player played himself into the limelight against Pittsburgh: running back Deejay Dallas, who is actually only considered the Hawks’ number 4 running back.

It’s quite possible that he can quickly move up with another strong performance. This Dallas and the tough quarterback battle suggest another very focused Seattle performance. Especially since they traditionally don’t give up in the preseason and perform well.

Head coach Pete Carroll has a strong 27:16 record in preseason games in his career as Seahawks coach. For Seattle vs. Chicago, a bet on the Seahawks is therefore also one of our betting recommendations….

Key Players:
QB: Drew Lock
RB: Deejay Dallas
WR: Dareke Young
WR: Noah Fant
K: Jason Myers

Chicago Bears – Statistics & current form

The Bears pulled off a little surprise on the first day of play when they beat the favoured Kansas City Chiefs 19:14 after a great comeback. However, this comeback from a 14-0 half-time deficit only succeeded after Patrick Mahomes was taken out of the game by the Chiefs.

Nevertheless, this should encourage the young Bears that this season will not be a complete failure, as some experts suspect. On Saturday it was not Justin Fields who was convincing at quarterback but Trevor Siemian.

How much playing time will Justin Fields get?

It was a bit surprising that Siemian played so many snaps in this duel, as Justin Fields is actually slated to be the clear No. 1 and should take advantage of any extra chance to get in. That could now happen against the Seahawks.

So the Bears are again a bit of a surprise package for this game. From a clear defeat, because the chemistry between quarterback and receivers is not yet right, to an upset success, everything is possible, which of course does not make betting easy.

Bears need to start better

What we do assume, however, is that they will not remain without a single point in the first half again. Thus, they should also end up cracking the 17-point mark again. Bets on 17+ Bears points are therefore just as possible as bets on many total points.

Since we still expect a narrow defeat against the home-strong Seahawks in the end, points bets are also our preferred betting recommendation. For Seahawks vs. Bears, a bet on over 37.5 total points at acceptable odds is our favourite betting option.

Key Players:
QB: Justin Fields
RB: Trestan Ebner
WR: Darnell Mooney
TE: Chase Allen
K: Cairo Santos

Seattle Seahawks – Chicago Bears Head-to-head / H2H record

In the preseason, the Bears actually won 25-24 in Seattle in the regular season, but that was on the penultimate day of play when there wasn’t much at stake for either team. The home game before that went 26-0 to Seattle.

Nevertheless, betting on the Hawks, even if we slightly favour them, is to be taken with a grain of salt. Therefore, another option presents itself for us. At Betano, there are still very good odds (1.75) on just Over 37.5 total points.

Since the first Seahawks game saw a full 57 points scored and they no longer have the strong defence of days gone by (which, incidentally, also applies to the Bears), the odds on Over 37.5 total points are to be taken advantage of with Seahawks vs Bears.

Seattle Seahawks – Chicago Bears Tip

The Bottom Line: The preseason is still the preseason and anyone can always beat anyone there. Still, we prefer betting on the slightly favoured Seahawks here, as they certainly don’t want to lose their second game in a row at home.

Even better bets seem to be total points bets. The bookmakers set their prices so low (37.5 -40.5 on average) that we still get a good value for a bet on Seattle vs. Chicago with more than 37.5 points.

Alternatively, bets on the Bears to score over 17 points are also possible. They are not expected to score as much against Seattle, although they have already scored 19 points against the Chiefs.
