Will Bryce Young get his first NFL win?

Will Bryce Young remain sleepless in Seattle? Or will he get his first-ever NFL win? For our Seahawks vs. Panthers tip, the question also arises whether the Seahawks can celebrate their first home win instead after being thrashed by the Rams at Lumen Field in Week 1.

Questions over questions, and finding answers is not easy with the two so different performances of the Seahawks. With 30.5 points conceded per game, the former Legion of Boom is the second weakest defence in the league.

Defensively, on the other hand, it wasn’t too bad what the Panthers put together. So far, though, scoring has been a problem. The last drive against the Saints should encourage the team and Bryce Young to throw a little more.

So our prediction for Seattle vs. Carolina is that the Seahawks will win, but will concede a few points again. That, in turn, could at least count as a small success for the Panthers. To each his own.

Kick-off of this game is on Sunday evening at 22:05 in Seattle. The game can be watched live on ENDZN on DAZN.

Seattle Seahawks – Statistics & current form

Surprise defeat follows surprise victory. That’s how the Seahawks’ season has gone so far, so another surprising defeat against the Panthers would have to follow. There’s a lot to be said for that, but in the end there’s more to be said for success.

The most negative point of their season so far is certainly their defence. 30.5 conceded points is the second weakest value of all NFL teams. Only the Los Angeles Chargers concede one more point on average.

What is their defence missing?

The amazing thing is that the weaknesses of their defence have completely turned around compared to last year. Back then, they only allowed 211.5 yards through the air. But they had big problems against the run and conceded 150.2 yards per game.

This season they concede only 97.0 yards on the ground, but 325.0 yards through the air per game, which is the third worst value in the league. This means that their secondary has taken a clear step backwards and needs to catch itself again.

They have two very talented young cornerbacks on the field in Sophomore Riq Woolen and Rookie Devon Witherspoon. However, they still lack the coordination. Lucky for them, they now face the NFL’s second-weakest passing offense.

Good or bad matchup?

So the fact that the Panthers are weak through the air should suit the Hawks. Or, it suits the Panthers that Seattle has such problems in the secondary. Both scenarios are possible and we definitely foresee a few more passing yards for Carolina this week.

Should Bryce Young be able to take advantage of that, it will be tight for Seattle. Still, we trust Geno Smith to deliver then as well and win a high scoring game if need be. For Seahawks vs Panthers, the odds on Seattle are still playable in any case.

Key Players:

  • QB: Geno Smith
  • RB: Kenneth Walker III
  • WR: DK Metcalf
  • TE: Noah Fant
  • K: Jason Myers

Carolina Panthers – Statistics & current form

Waking up too late was the name of the game for the Carolina Panthers against the New Orleans Saints Monday night. Their final drive looked really smooth and pundits wondered afterwards why Frank Reich doesn’t have his quarterback throwing more often.

He ended up with 153 passing yards, compared to 146 in the first game. He gets a lot of passing plays, but only for 5-10 yards. The coaching staff doesn’t seem to trust him to make the deep throws yet.

Panthers must dare more

That should also be the first starting point for Carolina. They need to open up their playbook significantly to be more unpredictable. Because for a run-heavy game, they simply don’t have the best running backs in Sanders and Hubbard.

So the Seahawks may be just in time with their problems in the secondary. We expect several longer pass attempts, which should also allow one or two touchdowns through the air.

Young seems to have developed good chemistry with Adam Thielen in particular. Against the Saints, the veteran caught seven passes and also scored a touchdown. The Seahawks vs. Panthers betting odds on another Thielen TD on Sunday are so good that we should definitely consider them.

High or Low Scoring?

So we are also expecting a game that should rather top the over/under. Thus, a bet on over 42 total points is also an interesting betting option for Seattle against Carolina. Our favourite, however, remains the bet on a touchdown by Adam Thielen, as we get odds of up to 4.75 (Betano) here.

Key Players:

  • QB: Bryce Young
  • RB: Miles Sanders
  • WR: Adam Thielen
  • TE: Hayden Hurst
  • K: Eddy Pineiro

Seattle Seahawks – Carolina Panthers Head-to-head comparison / H2H record

The last three meetings ended 30:27, 30:23 and 30:23, so there was a great consistency in the results, except that twice the Seahawks were the winners and once the Panthers (in the last duel last year).

Last year’s duel in particular can be taken as a yardstick, as the Panthers even triumphed with Sam Darnold at quarterback in Seattle. In addition, the results show that it was always a high-scoring affair between these two teams.

Seattle Seahawks – Carolina Panthers Tip

Against the Rams, bettors had given the Seahawks a 5.5 point handicap and they were just about destroyed. Now against the Panthers, they are giving them as much as 6.0 points, which we think is a bit risky. Nevertheless, a win for the Hawks in the end is absolutely within the realm of possibility.

What is also probable, however, is that the Panthers make good progress through the air against this secondary. A touchdown from their receivers is thus a top option. Especially since we get amazing odds of up to 4.75 for a bet on a TD by Adam Thielen in Seattle vs. Carolina. Let’s take advantage of that.

Alternatively, we’ve already talked about the pointspread of this matchup. The over 42.0 total points should therefore be exceeded again on Sunday, which then also speaks well for a touchdown by Thielen.
