Will the ‘Dubs’ fight back?

The Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics will contest Game 2 in the 2022 NBA Finals, with the home side posting a 108-120 loss in the first meeting. For the “Dubs” it was the first home defeat in the tenth home game of this year’s postseason.

Although Stephen Curry sank six threes in the first quarter of their last meeting, a new NBA record for a quarter in a Finals game, his and the Warriors’ strong start was not enough to secure a victory.

Golden State Warriors – Statistics & current form

The Californians actually had their opponents under control at the start of the NBA Finals. In the third quarter they were still in front with 15 points, but the last twelve minutes of the game turned out to be disastrous from the point of view of head coach Steve Kerr.

With a difference of 24 points, the fourth quarter was clearly lost. At least Stephen Curry was once again reliable. With 34 points, the “chef” delivered the best scoring output of all players on the court at the Chase Center.

Curry walks in the footsteps of MJ

Curry was unstoppable in the first quarter in particular, scoring 21 points: not since Michael Jordan, who scored 22 points in a quarter against Phoenix in 1993, had a player scored more points in a quarter of an NBA Finals.

In view of his consistently good performances, the odds on Stephen Curry scoring more than 28.5 points in the duel between the Warriors and Celtics on 6 June 2022 are also worth considering.

Boston Celtics – Statistics & current form

The record champion still has to share the title with the Lakers. Should Boston snatch the championship, however, the Celtics would once again be the sole holders of the title with 18 titles.

Boston can take heart from the first game of the current NBA Finals. Thanks to a 40-point effort in the fourth quarter, they won the opener. This means that the home advantage is now on the side of the visitors.

Head coach Ime Udoka’s team also proved its enormous strength away from home. Only two of the ten away games played so far in the postseason have been lost by the basketballers from the East!

Tatum with new newbie record

In addition, although Jayson Tatum did not have a good day in terms of scoring in the most recent game, he acted all the more strongly as a playmaker.

The forward recorded 13 dimes, setting a new playoffs record for a player in his first NBA Finals game! It is to be expected that Coach Udoka will again use Tatum more in the role of the ball distributor in the upcoming Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

With this in mind, betting on more than 5.5 assists by the 24-year-old on top in the clash between Golden State and Boston on 6 June seems promising.

Golden State Warriors – Boston Celtics Direct Comparison / H2H-Balance

Boston has underlined its status as a fearful opponent for the Warriors after the latest victory: the Celtics have won seven of the last eight direct duels!

The last away defeat in San Francisco was more than four years ago, and since then Boston have won all of their last five visits to the six-time champions.

Golden State Warriors – Boston Celtics Tip

For the duel between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics in Game 2, the tip aims for another away win or a defeat of the visitors with a maximum difference of four points.

The momentum is on the side of Boston, who can play with much less pressure than the home side thanks to their opening win. Moreover, the first game showed that the Celtics can absolutely keep up with the favourites in terms of play.

On top of that, the aforementioned away strength of Boston, which has an 80 percent win rate in the 2022 NBA Playoffs, speaks to the prediction. Given these points, there is at least no sign of a blowout on the part of the home side from the West Coast.
