ERC has tasted blood: Will there be the 2:2 in the BO7?
After match point in the DEL Playoffs on Friday night: RB Munich lost the home game against ERC Ingolstadt in the third match of the final series and thus leads “only” with 2:1. Now there is another match at the Schanzers. Our ERC Ingolstadt vs. RB Munich tip is once again aimed at the “Red Bulls” despite Munich’s recent home defeat.
After all, the Munich team didn’t put in a bad performance in the defeat against ERC Ingolstadt. Only the chance utilization was lacking, whereby the result was also due to the strong performance of ERC keeper Stettmer on the day. The substitute – actually only the number three in goal – delivered a stellar performance and was a factor in the ERC’s success.
For Ingolstadt, it was the first win against RB Munich since April 2021. Before that, ERC lost ten matches in a row against the “Red Bulls” from Munich. The last time the Munich team visited Ingolstadt, however, a prediction of a 7:1 win for the visitors paid off in ERC Ingolstadt vs. RB Munich.
ERC Ingolstadt – statistics & current form
ERC Ingolstadt can breathe a sigh of relief. There will be no Blitz-KO at the final of the DEL Playoffs 2023, because with the surprise coup in Munich, the Panthers have won at least one match in the BO7 series and thus reduced the gap to 1:2 for the time being. Friday night is in front of home crowd now the next trend-setting match.
Losing is forbidden, otherwise RB Munich already gets the chance on Sunday evening to fix the 2023 championship title. Considering how weak ERC Ingolstadt has been so far in the home games of the current DEL playoffs, this scenario cannot be ruled out for the Schanzers.
At home, the ERC has won only one of a total of seven encounters in the regular season in the current playoffs. They have already suffered four defeats, including the bitter home defeat against RB Munich, in which the Ingolstadt goal rang seven times.
Next home debacle against RB?
The 1:7 defeat against RB Munich was already the second defensive debacle for the Panthers this season. Before that, ERC Ingolstadt had already conceded a bitter 1:9 defeat against the Grizzlies Wolfsburg during the regular DEL season. It therefore remains to be seen what will now follow in the upcoming home game against RB Munich.
After all, the Munich offense is red-hot. Just how strong Munich’s attacking lineup is was already apparent to keeper Reich last week. The Panthers’ regular goalkeeper conceded four goals in the first ten minutes of the game and was then replaced in the course of the game due to injury.
With Garteig and Reich, two goalkeepers were not available for the ERC in the last duel with the Munich team due to injury. As an “emergency solution”, Stettmer had to go in goal and was undoubtedly the match-winner. Because Reich has recovered, it remains uncertain whether Stettmer will again be given preference or will once again only assume the role of substitute keeper.
RB Munich – statistics & current form
RB Munich is out to get rid of frustration. The “Red Bulls” have lost the first match of the current final series after the Kantersieg in Ingolstadt of all places in front of a home crowd. Although RB was still leading 3:2 in the second period, an ERC double strike in the third period resulted in a bitter 3:4 defeat.
Friday night there is nevertheless the chance to set the course for the championship title with a win in Ingolstadt. In the BO7 series, four wins are enough to win the final of the 2023 DEL playoffs. If RB wins Friday’s game, there is thus already a chance on Sunday to win the fourth DEL championship in the club’s history.
Munich have won each of their last five away games in Ingolstadt since April 2021. In three of those five encounters, Munich’s offense even cracked the six-goal mark, including the last away game when RB celebrated a 7-1 thumping on foreign ice.
Is the RB offense rolling over the ERC?
The Munich offense is the team’s showpiece anyway. In the regular season, the “Red Bulls” provided the best offense in the DEL 2022/23 with 205 goals in 56 game days – an average of 3.66 per game. ERC Ingolstadt already got to feel how strong Munich’s offense is in the playoffs.
Yasin Ehliz was the second-best scorer in the DEL 2022/23 with his 59 scoring points (21 goals, 38 assists), and the 30-year-old winger has already backed up his strong performances in the playoffs, contributing eleven scoring points. It is quite possible that Ehliz will continue his season’s performance in the final series.
Betting fans who would like to place a bet on the visitors in the fourth game of the current BO7 series at ERC Ingolstadt vs. RB Munich can pick up betting odds of up to 1.95 in the event of success for the “Red Bulls”.
ERC Ingolstadt vs RB Munich Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
This is the eighth duel of the season between the two clubs. ERC Ingolstadt and RB Munich played four of these eight games during the regular season. RB won all four encounters, extending their winning streak against the Ingolstadt team. Only with the defeat in the last home game was the H2h tweaked. RB Munich thus lost a DEL game against ERC for the first time since April 2021.
Before that, there were ten wins in a row for the Munich team, including a 7:1 clean sweep in the ongoing final series of the 2023 DEL Playoffs. An offensive spectacle can’t be ruled out on Friday night either – at least in our estimation.
ERC Ingolstadt – RB Munich tip
RB Munich can make it 3-1 with a win Friday night and would have a chance to lock up the fourth league title in the club’s history Sunday in front of a home crowd. If it is considered how strong RB presented itself over the 2022/23 season, it is obvious anyway that the Munich team will win the championship.
The defeat in front of the home crowd should not be overestimated, especially since ERC Ingolstadt owed the victory primarily to the strong performance of substitute keeper Stettmer. A similar scenario already occurred against the keeper of the Fischtown Penguins in the quarterfinals of the DEL playoffs, where the Munich team nevertheless prevailed in the BO7 series.
As in the last final duel in Ingolstadt – a 7:1 for RB – we expect this time too a one-sided encounter in favor of the Munich team, which will thus have the chance to win the championship title in front of a sold-out crowd on Sunday. For ERC Ingolstadt vs. RB Munich, our tip is aimed at the guests. We’re betting five units for this one.
