Do the Sixers stumble against the Wizards once again?
Late Sunday night, Philadelphia hosts the Wizards from Washington. Here, two of the best centres in the NBA will meet. We are talking of course about Joel Embiid on the side of the hosts and Kristaps Porzingis on the side of the visitors.
Philadelphia 76ers – Statistics & current form
The Sixers can rely on the home bonus against Washington: The Sixers have won 25 of the 35 games on their home turf – the fourth-best home record in the Eastern Conference. Recently, however, the home strength has diminished somewhat, as two of the three most recent home games were lost and the most recent success against Portland only managed a maximum of one point.
On the other hand, the hosts currently have the NBA’s best scorer in Joel Embiid. The centre from the Cameroon is averaging more than 33 points for Philly and is on track to finish the regular season in first place in the scoring standings, just like last year.
Washington Wizards – Statistics & current form
The squad of head coach Wes Unseld Jr. recently faced the Atlanta Hawks twice in a row. In the duels against a direct competitor for the participation in the play-in tournament in the East, Washington first recorded a narrow 120:122 defeat and then again a 107:114 loss.
Nevertheless, Kristaps Porzingis is currently in good form and, at least for the most part, so is Kyle Kuzma, who has his best monthly scoring output so far this season in March. In addition, the visitors have an accurate shooting guard in Bradley Beal, who is once again very reliable on the offensive end this season with 23.4 points per game and delivered an impressive 29 points in the last guest game at the Wells Fargo Center.
Philadelphia 76ers – Washington Wizards Tip
In the clash between the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards, the tip and odds offer an away win, including a handicap of +8.5 points for the visitors.
Although the home side are favourites, the Wizards have been solid away from home recently, with four wins from five games. Philly, on the other hand, have won only one of their last three home games.
The prediction is supported by the currently very strong form of Kristaps Porzingis on the side of the Capitals. The centre set a new career-high in points in the penultimate game and will be able to give Joel Embiid a run for his money under the boards.
Last but not least, the prediction is supported by the fact that Washington has not liked the Sixers lately. Philly has won only one of the past five duels with Washington and has also lost the last two home games in this pairing. Against this backdrop, there are at least no signs of a blowout for the guests from the “Federal City”.
