Will Real Madrid stay on track?

Real Madrid travel to Granada for an away assignment and will be looking for their next win in the Spanish league. The royals are not yet spreading fear and terror, yet coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team is fully on target.

Before the match between Granada and Real Madrid, the betting odds show that the visitors have the advantage and are clear favourites going into the game. A Real Madrid win would be unsurprising, but the hosts have the means to be at least a maximally unpleasant opponent.

Where Granada are heading this season, meanwhile, is not yet clear. The hosts are currently just outside the relegation places, but the team does have potential, although the squad is limited, especially in terms of width. Kick-off for the match against the Royals is at 16:15 on Sunday.

Granada – Statistics & current form

It was already clear that it would be difficult for Granada CF this season. Two wins and eleven points currently mean only 17th place, if you consult the table from before the matchday. Granada still has a game in hand, but a significant improvement in the situation is not to be expected with the make-up game.

In general, the form curve has been pointing upwards in recent weeks. Granada may have lost 2-0 at RCD Espanyol just before the international break and still have the third-weakest attack in La Liga with eleven goals, but the hosts have lost only one of their last five games in La Liga. Nevertheless, the odds of the best bookmakers before the match between Granada and Real Madrid show that the home side will go into the game as clear underdogs.

This is mainly due to the individual quality of the guests. But it should be noted that Granada has looked good against strong teams this season. Against Villarreal and FC Barcelona they got a point, against Sevilla FC the host even won. That ensures Real Madrid should be warned.

Granada hope for second home win

Little surprisingly, the hosts are picking up slightly more points at home than away so far, although their points average of 1.0 is not outstanding either. Four points from the last two games at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes are good odds. It should be emphasised that coach Robert Moreno’s team, with 16 goals conceded, at least works very well defensively.

It is clear that everything has to go according to plan for Granada to pose problems for their individually superior opponents. What distinguishes Real Madrid from teams like Villarreal or Barcelona is their ability to score. Granada are likely to play in a 4-4-2 system again, which sounds offensive but is generally geared more towards compactness. The aim is to condense the spaces, and pinpricks are important in the forward play.

Predicted line-up of Granada:
Maximiano – Victor Diaz, Duarte, Abram, Escudero – Gonalons, Monchu, Machis, Puertas – Suarez, Bacca

Real Madrid – Statistics & current form

The fact that Real Madrid are currently “only” second in the league doesn’t seem to worry the royals too much. Not everything is going according to plan at the moment, but in many games good approaches could be seen. Moreover, Karim Benzema is still in top form, and the same applies to Vinicius Junior, who radiates immense enthusiasm for the game. This does not apply to the entire team, but it is still enough to be in a good position.

Real Madrid’s season has been very decent overall so far. There have been a few negative points, such as the 0-0 against Osasuna at home or the defeat at Espanyol, but overall the Ancelotti team is on course. The royals even score better away than at home; even in the Champions League, their performances away from home were better than at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Their enormous class also shines through at times. There have already been five competitive games in which the team has scored three or more goals this season. Benzema and Vinicius Junior are of course particularly in focus, having scored 17 of a total of 28 goals in the league.

Real Madrid have the best offence in the league

These 28 goals in La Liga mean that Real Madrid have the best offence. Valencia, Sevilla and Atletico are already quite clearly distanced with 21 goals each. If the engine is running and the Ancelotti team gets rolling, several goals can be scored quickly. Therefore, before the match between Granada and Real Madrid, our value tip is that the royals will win by more than one goal.

In any case, a win for the visitors would mean that Real Madrid still have excellent chances of winning the La Liga title. The bookmakers see the visitors very far ahead anyway, which is also due to the fact that clubs like Barcelona and Atletico show weaknesses and teams like Real Sociedad and Sevilla fall away individually.

Predicted Real Madrid line-up:
Courtois – Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy – Casemiro, Kroos, Modric – Asensio, Vinicius Jr., Benzema

Granada – Real Madrid Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

In the direct comparison between these two teams, Real Madrid unsurprisingly have the advantage on their side. The Royals have won 36 matches, with 50 games played in total. Granada have won six and drawn eight. Real are also ahead in terms of goals, with 128, while Granada have scored 47.

Granada – Real Madrid Tip

Granada have already managed to upset one or two big opponents this season, and of course now have their sights set on doing the same to Real Madrid. The hosts should manage another surprise, and after only one defeat in their last five games, that is not entirely out of the question.

The role of favourites lies with the visitors and if their offence gets fun to play, it will score several times. Therefore, before the game Granada against Real Madrid our tip is that more than 2.5 goals will fall.
