“I’m emotional, I have doubts every day,” says Jannik in a video recounting his last 12 months, from disqualification to triumph at Wimbledon.

Jannik Sinner has been a Rolex ambassador since 2020. And, on the occasion of the US Open, the world No. 1 starred in a video on Rolex’s YouTube channel entitled “The Comeback.” It is part of a docu-series featuring various athletes who represent the brand.

The video, just over 10 minutes long, retraces Sinner’s last year, from the announcement of his positive test for clostebol to his victory at Wimbledon. Symbolically, this is simply depicted with Sinner raising his arms to the sky after match point. The rest of the video shows the 2024 US Open, the 2025 Australian Open, and some glimpses of training in Monte Carlo during his disqualification. These are components of the thread that links Sinner’s statements and some comments from his coaches, Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill. In the background, Jannik is swimming: he definitely does better on the court than in the water.

la forza di sinner—  “Last year, I had a lot of trouble staying happy on the court because of the doping case,” explains the No. 1 player as training images flash across the screen. “Lately, I’ve been spending time with my family and friends. I think if you’re happy off the court, it’s easier to play. A new version of me is coming back.”
A dream comeback—  “The first step will simply be to return to the circuit, but above all to return to the Slams. I want to measure myself against the best in the world, even if I don’t give myself much of a chance… but we’ll see.” Thus begins the final part of the video, which shows the tournaments of his comeback. The final at the Rome 1000, the epic final at Roland Garros, and the apotheosis at Wimbledon.

Emotions and simplicity—  The crucial part of the video, with the sunset over the Gulf of Monte Carlo, concerns Sinner’s words about his personality. “From the outside, I don’t seem very emotional,” he says, “but I am. When I have a difficult moment, I can’t hold back; sometimes I’m very hard on myself. I have doubts every day. But I remember how much work I’ve done to get here, thinking back to where I came from. We didn’t have much at home.” Once again, the return to where it all began, in his valleys.
