In the second set, with Musetti leading 5-3, the Italian’s passing shot went out, but the Serbian champion told the umpire he had touched the ball: the score went from a potential 40-15 to 30-30, before the Italian broke serve

A fine gesture of sportsmanship by Novak Djokovic during his Australian Open quarterfinal match against Lorenzo Musetti. The Serbian champion, trailing by a set and a break, with the Italian leading 5-3, conceded the point to his opponent in a delicate scoring situation (30-15, Djokovic serving).

What happened: Djokovic hit a drop shot, Musetti recovered and attempted a touch pass, but the ball was deflected by the net and went out. It would have been 40-15, but Nole told the umpire he had touched the ball. No one had noticed. The score thus becomes 30-30. Musetti, in the tiebreak, will break his opponent’s serve and take the set.
