Wolves play to their home strength?

It’s the day of the northern derbies. Hannover and Braunschweig face off in the second division. One league higher, VfL Wolfsburg awaits the team from Werder Bremen. The crowd in the stadiums will show which match is more popular with spectators. In our Wolfsburg vs Werder Bremen betting tip, however, it should be clear that the standard in this first division match is likely to be considerably higher

The Wolves are aiming to compete for one of the international places in the Bundesliga. They can therefore currently be quite satisfied with ninth place. However, sixth place is already six points away. A win in the derby against the team from the Weser on Sunday will help them to catch up. In general, we assume that the chances of a home win for Wolfsburg should not be bad

However, Werder are not that far behind the Wolves in the standings. With nine points, three points less than their northern rivals, Bremen are in twelfth place. With an away win on Sunday, they could even overtake them

The only problem is that Bremen are neither particularly successful on a Sunday nor do they finish away trips with points in the bag. We think that nothing fundamental will change in this respect. In any case, we think that a home win should be predicted in the match between Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen

Wolfsburg – stats & current form

At VfL Wolfsburg, you actually know pretty much what you’re going to get and when. The Wolves are strongest in the first half and then in front of their own fans. If we only look at the results before the break, the team from Lower Saxony would be second in the table behind Bayer Leverkusen. 71% of goals scored by Niko Kovac’s team in the first half

Wolves easy to calculate?

Of the total of 13 goals scored, eight were scored by Jonas Wind. This means he has scored 62 percent of his club’s goals. That is the highest figure of any player in the Bundesliga. The recipe against VfL could therefore be quite simple, namely to pay maximum attention to the Danish attacker before the break. However, many teams have not tried this so successfully in recent weeks

While the Wolves have lost their last three Bundesliga games, they have won four of their last five competitive matches at the Volkswagen Arena. VfL are therefore much stronger at home, which is another reason why we are looking at the odds for a home win in the match between Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, perhaps even garnished with HT/FT for Niko Kovac’s team.

During the week, the Wolves had a second round cup match against defending champions RB Leipzig on the agenda. Once again, Wolfsburg showed that performances at home and away are two different things. After Vaclav Cerny’s goal, the club from Lower Saxony won 1:0 and are now through to the last 16 of the DFB Cup.

Predicted Wolfsburg line-up:

Werder Bremen – Statistics & current form

Werder Bremen will once again have to do everything in their power to secure their place in the league at an early stage this season. That will apparently only work if they score consistently at home and pick up plenty of victories, as Ole Werner’s side are going nowhere away from home. Bremen have not picked up a single point away from home this season

Away and Sunday not a good combination for Werder

No other club has such a big difference between nine home points and no away points as the Green-Whites. But it gets even worse, as SV Werder have lost their last seven away games in the Bundesliga this season. Added to this is the defeat in the DFB Cup at third-division side Viktoria Köln. Therefore, it doesn’t look like there is any reason to predict that the visitors will win a point in the clash between Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen

An added complication is that Sunday is not Bremen’s day at all. Of the last 17 Sunday games in the Bundesliga, the Green-Whites have won just one. In fact, they have lost all of their last six games on this day of the week. An away game on a Sunday does not seem to be a combination that suits Ole Werner’s team.

After all, there was a win to celebrate last week when they took advantage of Union Berlin’s crisis at the Weserstadion. Bremen took a 1-0 lead shortly before the break thanks to an own goal by the Ironers. After the changeover, Marvin Ducksch put the lid on the game with a 2:0. Werder have now scored 10 of their 14 goals after half-time.

Predicted Werder Bremen line-up:

Wolfsburg – Werder Bremen head-to-head comparison / H2H result

VfL Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen have played each other in 66 competitive matches to date. In the direct comparison, the team from the Weser has the edge with 31:23 wins. Twelve matches ended in a draw. Bremen scored in both matches against the Wolves last season, picking up a total of four points.

The first leg in Wolfsburg ended in a 2-2 draw on the first matchday. In the second leg at the Weser Stadium, Bremen secured a 2:1 home win. Niclas Füllkrug brought his good form from the World Cup with him and scored both goals for Bremen. It was only in the final minute that VfL Wolfsburg scored the equalizer through Kevin Paredes

Wolfsburg – Werder Bremen betting tip

VfL Wolfsburg have lost three Bundesliga games in a row. However, this is not decisive for us, as there have been four wins at home in the last five competitive matches, interrupted only by the narrow defeat in the Volkswagen Arena against current league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. The Wolves are particularly strong at home, as seen last week in the cup against RB Leipzig, which is why they are our favorites on Sunday.

However, this is not only due to their own home strength, but also to Bremen’s weakness on the road. SV Werder are the only team yet to score away from home this season and have lost seven away games in a row

Sundays are also extremely unpopular with Bremen, who have recently suffered six consecutive defeats on this day of the week. We think that the prospects of a home win, perhaps again with a goal from Jonas Wind before the break, are not bad at all. In the end, we decided to play the betting odds on HT/FT for the Wolves between Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen
