There has been contact with Milan, and an offer could arrive in the coming days. So could the Rossoneri sell a striker they bought this summer? It’s not impossible, but Christo’s wishes and his valuation are two major issues

Half of Istanbul is talking about Christopher Nkunku, and no, this wasn’t expected. At the end of December, Christo became a target for Fenerbahçe at the urging of Domenico Tedesco, who currently coaches the Yellow-and-Blues in Turkey but, for six months in 2021-22, helped Nkunku score 20 goals in the Bundesliga and 35 overall that season. But can Milan really let Nkunku go less than five months after buying him for 37 million plus bonuses?

The first certainty: Fenerbahçe has never made an offer to Milan. They have inquired, are considering it, and are likely to make a proposal in the coming days. At the moment, however, there are no negotiations, and the reality is that the purchase price is an issue. Fenerbahçe does not want to pay 35 million for Nkunku and will likely try to close a favorable deal, banking on his difficulties adjusting to life in Italy.

Milan’s perspective—  Milan isn’t closing the door on talks, but they can’t take a loss by selling Nkunku for 20–25 million, especially after his two goals against Verona. At this moment, moreover, the attack relies on a delicate balance. Leao played against Cagliari despite inflammation in his quadriceps—a condition closely related to groin pain—Pulisic had limited playing time on Friday, and Gimenez will remain sidelined for a long time. It’s good that Füllkrug has arrived and impressed in his first 20 minutes, but Allegri has limited options up front, and a sale certainly wouldn’t be made lightly. Milan, so to speak, is in a wait-and-see mode, in no hurry.
Nkunku’s perspective—  Nkunku’s willingness, in this scenario, is important. Christo isn’t pushing to leave Milan. On the contrary, he’d gladly stay in Milan, wanting to prove he’s up to the task. A few months to settle in is understandable, and Allegri, by choosing to let him take the penalty against Verona, has shown he can give Nkunku a hand. So, should we keep an eye on Fenerbahçe next week? Certainly. Are all the conditions in place for the deal to go through? No, not at the moment.
