Bayern on their way to becoming autumn champions

English week in the Bundesliga. Before the holidays, the teams of the German top flight have to play twice more. However, the autumn champions could already be decided this Tuesday. Unsurprisingly, it should be FC Bayern. With a point in the away game at VfB Stuttgart, the German record champions would no longer be ousted from the top spot before Christmas.

In the Bundesliga standings, Bayern are at the top, even if the Munich team does not always look sovereign this year. Nevertheless, it was enough to build up a six-point cushion over their pursuers from Dortmund. Therefore, there is nothing to prevent the Munich team from at least becoming autumn champions. What will happen in the spring is another story.

VfB Stuttgart are in 15th place in the table, but have scored a lot of points recently. Nevertheless, the Swabians must still be counted among the relegation candidates in the Bundesliga. This means that in the match between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich, the prediction should clearly go in favour of a victory for the visitors.

However, it has also not gone unnoticed by anyone that the Munich side are no longer rushing through the league as untouchably as they have been in recent years. Perhaps a surprise is in store for the former south-west clash, even if we are still clearly leaning towards an FCB win between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern.

VfB Stuttgart – Statistics & current form

VfB Stuttgart threatened to lose touch with the saving shore in the Advent season. The Swabians are still in 15th place. The cushion on the relegation place is just one point. VfB are therefore far from breathing a sigh of relief, but the recent good results mean that they can now take on Bayern in a more relaxed mood.

Form upswing for the Swabians

Seven points from the last three games would not have been expected from Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team, especially as the opponents, at least Mainz and Wolfsburg, were tough. If they can add to their tally on Tuesday, they can at least celebrate a relaxed Christmas, although the odds on a home win in the match between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern are extremely high.

At the weekend, VfB showed a good game in the guest game in Wolfsburg. Stuttgart had not won at the Volkswagen Arena for 15 years, but that was about to change. Admittedly, the Wolves are struggling, but you still have to win there first. After goals by Konstantinos Mavropanos and Philipp Förster, the final score was 2:0, so the missed penalty by Omar Marmoush could still be absorbed.

Since the weekend, there have been no major changes in the casualties. Only Borna Sosa could be an option again with a lot of luck. On the other hand, Fabian Bredlow, Sasa Kalajdzic, Philipp Klement, Roberto Massimo, Enzo Millot, Mohamed Sankoh and Erik Thommy are all still missing, players that VfB could have used against Bayern.

Predicted line-up of VfB Stuttgart:
Müller – Mavropanos, Anton, Ito – Karazor, Sosa – Coulibaly, Endo, Mangala, Förster – Marmoush – Coach: Matarazzo

Bayern – Statistics & current form

Of course, it’s not always pretty what the Munich team has conjured up on the pitch this season, but when it comes to effectiveness, nobody can beat Bayern. Even close games are turned around by the record champions, as recently in the Bundesliga in Dortmund and at home against Mainz. In this form, there is absolutely nothing to prevent the Nagelsmann team from becoming autumn champions on Tuesday.

Bayern with new winning streak

At the moment, the Bavarians have already won five games in a row. In the Champions League, the Munich team has raced through the preliminary round without a blemish. Only the elimination in the DFB Cup is a small drop of bitterness that clouds the overall picture. Nevertheless, the forecast for Tuesday’s match between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern must be for a win by the visitors.

Last weekend, however, Bayern had a very hard time against FSV Mainz in their own arena. At the break, FSV led 1:0 and probably should have been awarded a penalty. In the second period, the FCB showed its ruthless face again. After goals from Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala, Bayern turned the game around to win 2-1 at home.

For Leon Goretzka, it will hardly be enough until Tuesday to cure his patella tendon injury. Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting and Joshua Kimmich continue to suffer the consequences of their infections. In addition, Marcel Sabitzer and Josip Stanisic will be missing due to injury. It is conceivable that Niklas Süle will slide into the back three from the start on Tuesday.

Predicted Bayern line-up:
Neuer – Pavard, Upamecano, Hernandez – Tolisso, Musiala – Coman, Müller, Sane, Davies – Lewandowski – Coach: Nagelsmann

VfB Stuttgart – Bayern Direct comparison / H2H-balance

Incredible 154 competitive matches VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich have played against each other so far. In the direct comparison, the Munich team is clearly ahead with 90:37 victories. 27 games ended in a draw. The FCB has 66 Bundesliga victories to its name. The Munich team has not won more often against any other opponent in the top flight.

Bayern have won 17 of the last 18 direct duels in the Bundesliga. Last season, the Munich team won 3:1 in Stuttgart and were already ahead at the break. The second leg at the Allianz Arena went 4-0 to Bayern after three goals from Robert Lewandowski and one from Serge Gnabry.

VfB Stuttgart – Bayern Tip

Although Stuttgart are in good form with seven points from their last three games, 17 of the last 18 direct duels against the FCB have gone to the record champions. The word “fearful opponent” almost seems to have been lifted out of the cradle especially for this pairing.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team has recently celebrated five wins in a row, but had its problems in Dortmund and against Mainz. We think it will be a little easier against a relegation candidate in Stuttgart on Tuesday and are pretty sure that we will be right with a tip on a win for the visitors in the clash between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich.

We assume that the Munich team will not sleep through the first half again and will secure the autumn championship early on Tuesday. We think that this might be wrapped up by the break and have decided to play the betting odds on HT/FT for the Munich side between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern.
