Valencia with the liberation blow against decimated Betis?

Valencia will be approaching their match against Betis Sevilla with mixed feelings. The hosts have not won against the Andalusians for five comparisons and have only lost one of those games not also.

In addition, the home side is currently lacking in form. This can be seen in the last five rounds of matches without a win. The visitors, however, recently had to play a difficult “Derbi sevillano” against their arch-enemy Sevilla FC.

This ended in a draw, but cost the visitors important regulars in the squad due to two sending-offs, who now cannot start. For the match at the Mestalla between Valencia and Betis Sevilla, the forecast is therefore for a home win (DNB).

Valencia – Statistics & current form

Valencia coach Gennaro Gattuso cannot rely on a home bonus in the upcoming match: With three wins and three defeats each and one draw, the home side have nothing more than a balanced record on home soil.

At least last season’s ninth-placed team is very controlled in the first halves of the game. The “Blanquinegros” have never trailed at the break in any of the seven home games they have played.

A record that is mainly due to a strong defence, as in only one of these games was a goal conceded before the half-time whistle.

Thick question mark behind Cavani

On the offensive, Edinson Cavani has again been performing well of late. The Uruguayan has scored at least one goal in three of his last four La Liga appearances.

However, he had to be substituted early in the penultimate match against Barcelona due to an injury and in the last match against Real Sociedad he could not play.

He is now also in danger of playing against Betis for the club from the Turia. In light of this, betting on less than three goals by the final whistle in the showdown between Valencia and Betis Sevilla also looks interesting.

Home games of the “bats” are often low-scoring

This is also supported by the fact that the guests also start with a decimated offensive, but at the same time are strong defensively. So far, Betis have scored an average of just 1.5 goals in their six matches – only Villarreal have just undercut this figure with 1.4 goals.

Of course, Cavani is not only feared in Valencia, but also in his home country. For the Uruguayan national team, which is competing in Group H of the 2022 World Cup, his absence would also be a major blow.

Predicted line-up of Valencia:

Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form

The “Verdiblancos” occupied fifth place at the final reckoning of last season and currently that position is once again occupied in the table in the Spanish top flight. However, the guests have room for improvement away from home.

While the 1935 champions occupy a strong third place in the home rankings, they have only managed two wins in six away matches (2-2-2).

Recently, however, Real Sociedad were successful once again and at least the strong defence, the second best in the league, is also very secure away from home. Only four goals conceded even represent the best value in La Liga in this ranking.

In attack, both top strikers are missing

Personnel-wise, however, the “Béticos” are not at their best at the moment. With Juanmi, a previously very powerful attacker is missing. Borja Iglesias, however, is all the more reliable.

The 29-year-old has already delivered a double-digit goal haul for Manuel Pellegrini’s team in the past two seasons, and he will easily match that record again this season.

The attacker has already scored eight goals, and only Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona scores more often in La Liga. However, the attacker received a red card in the last match against Sevilla and now has to miss out.

This also applies to the Frenchman Nabil Fekir in midfield, which means that the visitors’ attack is significantly weakened. In view of this, the prediction of no goals from the visitors in the clash between Valencia and Betis Sevilla is also interesting.

Betis will spend the winter in the Europa League

In addition to another successful season at national level, the “Heliopolitanos” also impressed in the Europa League.

With five wins and one draw, the reigning cup winners remained unbeaten in the group stage and secured their ticket for next year’s playoffs.

Predicted line-up of Betis Sevilla:
Silva – Gonzalez – Pezzella – Moreno – Sabaly – Akouokou – Guardado – Canales – Carvalho – Luiz Henrique – Ruibal

Valencia – Betis Sevilla Direct comparison / H2H record

The last direct encounter took place last May at the Mestalla. On that occasion, Betis won 3-0 away from home. Thanks to the success, the visitors, as described at the beginning, are unbeaten in five duels in this pairing in league play and in the Copa del Rey (4-1-0).

Valencia – Betis Sevilla tip

“Los che” cannot complain about the timing of the encounter. Due to a particularly heated “Derbi sevillano” last Sunday, the visitors now have to do without Borja Iglesias as their top scorer picked up a red card in the match.

This means that after the injured Juanmi, another very efficient player is missing from the visitors’ attack. Because of this, the betting on a home win (DNB) in the duel between Valencia and Betis Sevilla seems promising.

The prediction is supported by the only average performance of the guests away from home (2-2-2).

However, at least a draw is a good bet, as Valencia have not won in three home games and, like their opponents, are only average at home (3-1-3).

Moreover, the visitors are weakened offensively, but not in the powerful defence and this concedes the fewest goals after the league leader Barcelona in the league!
