Clear number for the German record champions?

Before the Bundesliga heads into the early winter break, there is still a “David against Goliath” duel to come on Saturday evening. Bottom of the table Schalke will meet top of the table Bayern.

For a total of 23 meetings, the Königsblauen have now waited for another victory against the Reds (three draws, 20 defeats). The last two competitive matches against the FCB were lost with a total of 0:12 goals.

When it comes to Schalke against Bayern, there is no alternative but to bet on the Munich side to win their last nine games in a row.

It is not overly likely that Schalke will score. Not only does S04 have the weakest offence in the Bundesliga with only 13 goals from 14 league games. They have also failed to score in nine of their last eleven games against FCB. The forecast for a clear away win for the team from the Isar is accordingly consistent for Schalke against Bayern.

We recommend betting on a victory for the Munich team with an Asian handicap of -2.5. The Gelsenkirchen side showed signs of life again on Wednesday evening with a 1:0 win over Mainz 05. However, Schalke have lost eight of their last nine competitive matches.

Schalke – Statistics & current form

Fc Schalke 04 already went through an absolutely disastrous season in the Bundesliga in the 2020/21 season, which ultimately also resulted in relegation to the second division. There, the Knappen recovered remarkably quickly and managed to return to the top flight of German football at the first attempt.

At the moment, however, it does not look as if the Gelsenkircheners will stay for too long. With nine defeats from the first 14 league games, the Königsblauen now hold the red lantern. They are already five points off the first non-relegation place.

After eight defeats in competitive matches, finally a win again

Lately, Schalke even went through the longest losing streak in the club’s history so far. Between the end of September and the beginning of November, they lost a staggering eight competitive games in a row

Everyone involved was all the more relieved when the 1-0 home win over Mainz 05 last week put an end to this slump. But now, of all times, the German record champions are visiting the Veltins-Arena, which should make it difficult if not impossible for the Gelsenkirchen side to carry the momentum of the Mainz win with them.

Winless against Bayern in 23 competitive games

Also because S04 has been waiting for another win against the Reds for 23 games now (three draws, 20 defeats), the bookmakers’ odds on Schalke against Bayern are clearly against the Knappen, who should already have difficulties overcoming the FCB defence.

With only 13 goals from 14 league games, the Gelsenkirchen team has the weakest offensive in the Bundesliga. In addition, they have also failed to score in nine of their last eleven games against Munich.

Predicted Schalke line-up:
Schwolow – Mohr – Matriciani – Yoshida – Brunner – Krauß – Kral – Bülter – Mollet – Drexler – Terodde

Bayern – Statistics & current form

Although FC Bayern München have most recently recorded ten national championships in a row and even secured the triple of the league title, DFB Pokal and Champions League in the summer of 2020. In the last two years, however, it was “only” the championship, which was not enough for the team that was used to success, especially because of the early eliminations in the Cup and the Champions League.

The mood was correspondingly subdued at the start of the new season, when the renewed defence of the Bundesliga title was still in the balance. On only six of the 14 match days so far did the FCB greet from the top of the table.

Four points clear of second place

Recently, however, the Reds celebrated nine competitive match victories in a row and thus ensured a lot of calm in the environment again. In the Champions League, the German record champions were the only team to pick up the maximum 18 points in the preliminary round, while they also made it to the round of 16 in the cup.

Last but not least, the Munich team meticulously collected points in the Bundesliga. Five wins in a row were enough to regain first place in the face of two recent slip-ups by leaders Union Berlin.

Last five wins in a row for Schalke

Now the men from the Isar want to say goodbye to the winter break with their tenth win in a row and perhaps take advantage of the fact that Union Berlin and Freiburg, currently the two fiercest pursuers, will meet on Sunday and fight for the points.

Everything speaks in favour of tip 2 for Schalke against Bayern, especially as the Reds have also celebrated easy wins in the last five guest games at the Veltins-Arena. And because reserves like Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have been scoring like hotcakes lately, even the total of six absences are of little consequence.

Predicted Bayern line-up:
Neuer – Hernández – Upamecano – Pavard – Mazraoui – Goretzka – Kimmich – Gnabry – Musiala – Sané – Choupo-Moting

Schalke – Bayern Direct comparison / H2H-Balance

Head to head: 20 – 29 – 68

There have been a total of 117 meetings between the two teams and FC Bayern clearly leads the direct comparison with 68 victories. In the last 23 competitive matches alone, Bayern have not won a single match (three draws, 20 defeats).

Schalke – Bayern tip

When it comes to Schalke against Bayern, our prediction formally goes in the direction of the German record champions, who have not been stopped by any opponent recently. The Reds have also been extremely prolific scorers and, with 47 goals after 14 matchdays, have the second-best Bundesliga attack of all time. A correspondingly tough evening could be in store for the Königsblauen. Back in the 2020/21 season, S04 lost both league games against the Munich side with a total of 0:12 goals.

With this in mind, betting on a clear victory for Munich offers a lot of value. We therefore use the Asian Handicap of -2.5 on the visiting team.
