The Bulls must go ahead

Two German clubs are in the semi-finals of the Europa League. Never before has a German team made it to the final of this competition since it ceased to be called the UEFA Cup. Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig, however, are still two games away from the grand final in Seville. The Bullen have to face Glasgow Rangers in the semifinals.

Even though Domenico Tedesco’s team suffered a setback in the Bundesliga last weekend, the Saxons are in outstanding form. That’s why they will try to put themselves ahead in front of their own crowd on Thursday. If we believe the predictions in the first leg between RB Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers, then a home win should be a near certainty.

The Scots, however, are a team that fears no one. They will be looking to get a good result in the first leg first and foremost, and then go all the way to the final in front of a frenetic crowd at Ibrox Stadium next week. However, ahead of the first leg between RB Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers, we are clearly leaning towards a bet on the Bulls making the final.

RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form

The dream of the first title in the club’s history lives on. The Bullen are already in the final of the DFB Cup and want to reach the second final this season in the duels against Glasgow Rangers. Already, it’s fair to say it’s one of the most successful seasons in the Saxons’ young club history.

First defeat after 15 unbeaten games

In the Bundesliga, it also looks like RasenBallsport will qualify for the Champions League again, even if there are still residual doubts. At the moment, Domenico Tedesco’s team is in fourth place, but only two points ahead of fifth. That could well be close, with the Bulls almost going from win to win in recent weeks.

After 15 games without defeat, however, Domenico Tedesco’s team were hit again last weekend. Yussuf Poulsen gave his team the lead against Union Berlin. The Eisern, however, managed to take revenge for their loss in the DFB Cup semi-final. Even though the Berliners were successful with a 2-1 win at the Red Bull Arena, we still tend to play the odds on a home win between RB Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers.

Coach Domenico Tedesco, however, has a problem in defence on Thursday. As many as three centre-backs will not be available. Mohamed Simakan and Willi Orban are suspended, Lukas Klostermann is in quarantine. The coach will have to come up with something to compensate for these absences. Apart from that, the injured Amadou Haidara is still missing.

Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:
Gulacsi – Gvardiol, Halstenberg, Henrichs – Laimer, Kampl, Angelino, Mukiele – Szoboszlai, Nkunku – Andre Silva – Coach: Tedesco

Glasgow Rangers – Statistics & current form

In essence, Rangers are playing a very similar season to the Bullen. The Scots are also already in the national cup final and want to reach their second final this season in the Europa League. Above all, an international final would be a great thing again after losing the 2008 UEFA Cup final to Zenit St. Petersburg.

Small winning streak for Rangers

In the Scottish Premiership, Rangers find themselves in second place, but at six points behind local rivals Celtic, hopes are relatively slim that they will still succeed in defending their title, even with the Old Firm coming up in the league next week. Perhaps that is also a bit of a handicap for the Scots, as the Glasgow city derby remains the most important game for them.

Rangers come to Leipzig on the back of four straight wins, both of which required extra time in the Europa League quarter-finals against Braga and the FA Cup semi-finals against Celtic. Last weekend saw a 3-1 win away at Motherwell in the league, although Leon Balogun was sent off after just half an hour. After an own goal and goals from Scott Wright and James Tavernier, it was still enough for three points.

Motherwell, however, cannot be compared to the Bulls and that is why we stick to our prediction of a home win in this first leg between RB Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers. In any case, coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst has some personnel worries in the bag. Filip Helander, Nnamdi Ofoborh, Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos will be missing due to injury.

Predicted line-up of Glasgow Rangers:
McGregor – Barisic, King, Goldson, Tavernier – Kamara, Aribo – Arfield, Diallo, Wright – Sakala – Coach: van Bronckhorst

Last matches played by Glasgow Rangers:

Premiership Championship Group
23/04/2022 – Motherwell 1 – 3 Rangers

RB Leipzig – Glasgow Rangers Direct Comparison / H2H Record

Glasgow Rangers have seen it all on the international stage. From the triumph in the European Cup Winners’ Cup to further final appearances, everything has been there. Apart from the brief period of insolvency, the Scots have been a permanent guest on the European stage for over 50 years and have measured their strength against countless clubs in the process.

Although the Saxon bulls have attracted international attention in recent years, one cannot speak of a long tradition in the European Cup. It is therefore not particularly surprising that RB Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers will cross swords for the first time on Thursday.

RB Leipzig – Glasgow Rangers Tip

The fact that Glasgow Rangers are an opponent to be taken seriously was shown not least by the games against Borussia Dortmund, in which the Scots surprisingly prevailed. Nevertheless, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team remains the underdog in the games against the Bulls. With four wins in a row, however, they can travel to Leipzig with confidence.

The Bullen ended a long series at the weekend with a defeat against Union Berlin. Before that, RasenBallsport had been unbeaten for 15 games. Therefore, this home defeat can definitely be seen as a slip-up.

We think that Domenico Tedesco’s team will already try to force a preliminary decision on Thursday. However, the Bulls have some personnel worries in central defence. We can therefore imagine both teams scoring, but have decided to play the betting odds between RB Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers on a home win and a total of more than 2.5 goals.
