Can RBL turn the corner again under Tedesco?

Three defeats in a row in league play for RB Leipzig recently, which is why those responsible pulled the ripcord and sent Nagelsmann’s successor Jesse Marsch out the door. Domenico Tedesco will now sit on the bench for the first time against Borussia Mönchengladbach and is expected to turn things around against the struggling Foals, who lost 6-0 at home to SC Freiburg last weekend.

In the run-up to the encounter between RB Leipzig and Gladbach, the odds are swinging in the direction of the Saxons. After all, Borussia have yet to win any of their five away games at the Red Bull Arena. The Foals also lost their last two league games by a remarkable 1:10 margin.

The red bulls are certainly a bit of a surprise package due to the change of coach. But what the team is basically capable of was shown during the week when they defeated last year’s finalists Manchester City in the Champions League with 2:1.

Accordingly, the bet on a home win for the Saxons is playable for RB Leipzig against Gladbach.

RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form

In the sixth year of membership in the Beletage of German football, the upstart RB Leipzig, which was only founded in 2009, is experiencing its first small crisis. So far, the red bulls have finished every single Bundesliga season in the top six.

As a result, RBL has taken part in the UEFA Champions League four times, even reaching the semi-finals in 2019/20. Then, however, this summer saw the departure of successful coach Julian Nagelsmann as well as several key performers.

Already seven points off fourth place

Under Jesse Marsch, the season already got off to a bad start with only four of a possible 15 points from the first five games. But because the knot then burst in the meantime, the American nevertheless remained in office for the time being. But after losing three league games in a row against Hoffenheim, Leverkusen and Union Berlin, it was the end of the line for Nagelsmann’s successor.

Domenico Tedesco, who recently led Spartak Moscow to a runner-up finish in Russia, is now expected to provide a breath of fresh air. However, the 36-year-old does not have much time. After all, they are already seven points behind a Champions League starting berth.

Strong performances in the Champions League

Talking about the Champions League: After a weak start, the Saxons shone in the Champions League with three strong performances when they picked up seven of nine possible points against PSG (2:2), Brugge (5:0) and Manchester City (2:1). That was only enough to get them through the winter in the Europa League, but it proved that the playing potential in the team is enormous.

With this in mind, it makes a lot of sense to play RB Leipzig vs Gladbach tip 1. After all, the red bulls have remained undefeated in their previous five games at home against the Foals.

Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:

Gladbach – Statistics & current form

At Borussia Möchengladbach, it certainly wouldn’t have come as a surprise if the coach’s chair had been readjusted during the week. Not only is the interim record under Rose’s successor Adi Hütter extremely poor, with only 18 points and 13th place in the table.

The last two weeks in particular have been downright disastrous for the Foals, who have conceded at least ten goals in two consecutive league games for the first time in 23 years.

New low after 0:6 home debacle against Freiburg

On Sunday, Borussia even suffered a complete debacle at home to BORUSSIA-PARK.

After just 37 minutes, a 0:6 deficit against SC Freiburg was already on the record – and in front of a home crowd at that. Not since 1978, when the Foals themselves led Borussia Dortmund 6-0 at the break, has there been such a class difference at half-time in the Bundesliga.

The pressure is correspondingly great on the team from the Lower Rhine, which now has to try to turn the tide against one of its most fearful opponents. Against no other Bundesliga team does Borussia have such a low win rate (10%) and such a high defeat rate (60%).

Five of the seven league away games lost

So it’s no surprise that Adi Hütter’s side are underdogs at the Red Bull Arena.

After all, the poor form is compounded by a poor away record. Borussia have lost five of their seven league away games this season and have already conceded 14 goals away from home. Only Fürth, Hoffenheim and Berlin have been more susceptible away from home.

Predicted line-up of Gladbach:
Sommer – Bensebaini – Elvedi – Ginter – Scally – Zakaria – Kramer – Thuram – Stindl – Hofmann – Embolo

Last matches played by Gladbach:

1st Bundesliga
12/05 2021 – Borussia Mönchengladbach 0 – 6 SC Freiburg

11/27 2021 – 1. FC Köln 4 – 1 Borussia Mönchengladbach

11/20 2021 – Borussia Mönchengladbach 4 – 0 Greuther Fürth

11/05 2021 – Mainz 05 1 – 1 Borussia Mönchengladbach

10/31 2021 – Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 – 1 Vfl Bochum

RB Leipzig – Gladbach Direct comparison / H2H balance

Head to head: 6 – 3 – 1

Ten times both teams have faced each other so far and with six wins RBL clearly leads the direct comparison. The last time the red bulls hosted the Foals was on 27 February 2021, when they turned a 0:2 interval deficit into a 3:2 home win.

RB Leipzig – Gladbach Tip

When it comes to RB Leipzig against Gladbach, the prediction does have to take into account that both teams have had several no wins in the Bundesliga recently. However, while the red bulls changed their coach and managed a 2-1 home win over Manchester City in the Champions League during the week, the visitors from the Lower Rhine have not yet had an initial spark that would give reason to believe that the turnaround will now be successful.

Also in view of Gladbach’s two most recent defeats at 1:10 goals, it makes the most sense to bet on the home-strong Saxons, who have never lost a home match against the Foals before.
