Thrilling chasing duels in Manchester and London
Leaders Chelsea await the bottom of the table in the ninth round of the British football league with the promotion from Norwich. The visitors are yet to win a game and it is unlikely that this will change for the better at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues’ closest rivals in the shape of Liverpool have a much tougher task ahead of them with a visit to Manchester United. This assessment holds true on paper at least, as the in-form Red Devils look quite beatable at the moment.
In addition, third-placed Manchester City and fourth-placed Brighton face each other directly. For all games in the Premier League on matchday 9, you can read the following predictions and odds!
Arsenal vs. Aston Villa – 22 October, 21:00
The Gunners will be a little tired coming into the game, having just concluded the previous fixture with a match against city rivals Crystal Palace last Monday night and now opening the current round of fixtures straight away. The derby against the Eagles ended in a 2-2 draw, keeping the home side without defeat for the fifth game in a row.
However, the point was only gained thanks to his very late goal in injury time. The visitors again suffered a nightmare last weekend, blowing a 2-0 lead against Wolves before losing 3-2 at home to Wanderers.
Aston Villa’s recent away performances unconvincing
The goals were all conceded from the 80th minute onwards, making the defeat doubly bitter for Villa. Another point against the Villans is that it was their second defeat in a row and that they have not been convincing away from home so far: three defeats and only one win have been recorded away from home.
Despite the physical advantage of the visitors, betting on a home win is a good idea for the match in London in the Premier League on Matchday 9.
Chelsea v Norwich – 23 October, 13:30
The visitors continue to be one of three teams in the British top flight waiting for their first win of the season. On the other hand, their only two points so far have come from draws against Burnley and Brighton in the last two matchdays. In addition, no goals were conceded in those matches for the first time.
The Blues, on the other hand, picked up a 1-0 away win at surprisingly strong promoted Brentford last weekend. Thanks to the win, they defended their position at the top of the table and for the first time in almost a month, they were able to keep a clean sheet.
However, the Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, who has not scored for the Londoners in five games, is a cause for concern. However, with the task now very simple with the bottom of the table, who arrive with the weakest attack in the league-wide comparison, the odds on another home win to nil are linked with value in the clash at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League within Matchday 9.
Crystal Palace v Newcastle – 23 October, 16:00
The Glaziers are still unbeaten at home, but on the other hand have only won one of their four home games. Thanks to a 2-2 draw at Arsenal last Monday, the Eagles also have three draws in a row and no team in the Premier League has shared points with their opponents as often – five of their eight games have ended in a draw.
The Magpies have been making headlines off the pitch of late: Due to the takeover by the Saudi Arabian investment fund PIF, Newcastle is arguably the richest club in the world.
The chairman of the fund, which has assets of more than 300 billion US dollars, is none other than the Saudi heir to the throne, Mohammed bin Salman. This means that United’s financial prospects are bedded in roses.
However, this does not help at the moment. Instead, the team of coach Steve Bruce, who will not be in charge for much longer as the search for a successor has already begun, is only second to last in the table and has not yet won a match this season.
For the match at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on matchday 9, predictions of more than two goals for the home side seem fruitful. The visitors travel with the weakest defence in the Premier League and Crystal Palace score quite reliably at home at least, with six of their ten goals this season coming in home games.
Everton v Watford – 23 Oct, 16:00
The Toffees last conceded a home defeat to West Ham. The absences of top strikers Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have weakened the home side’s attack and this shortcoming explains why they have won only one of their past four league games, recording their only two defeats of the season in this review.
Watford, for their part, went down without reply at home to the Reds last weekend. The Hornets were beaten 5-0 and now sit 16th in the table after three rounds without a win.
For the match at Goodison Park in the Premier League on matchday 9, the betting odds on a home win represent the first choice of the betting base. Although Everton are short-staffed, they should still be able to overcome the Hornets’ lack of form due to the fact that they still have a better squad and home advantage.
Southampton v Burnley – 23 October, 16:00
The Saints have done it: last Saturday they got their first three-pointer of the season. Leeds were beaten 1-0. However, the result shows that the offensive weakness of the Hasenhüttl eleven still exists due to the departure of top striker Danny Ings.
Southampton score less than one goal per league game and only their upcoming opponents and Norwich score less. The visitors, for their part, have five goals after eight rounds of matches, one less than the home side.
With this in mind, betting tips on less than three goals in the course of the match are worth recommending for the clash at St Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on matchday 9.
The prediction is backed up by Southampton’s four completed home games in which they have always scored less than 2.5 goals, and their home goal average of one is the lowest in the top flight in the UK.
Leeds United v Wolverhampton – 23 October, 16:00
Bielsa’s troops continue to get nowhere: the latest defeat at Southampton means they only occupy the last non-relegation spot, and any hopes of improvement from their first win of the season on the penultimate matchday at home to Watford have already evaporated.
Wolves instead delivered the greatest spectacle last weekend. The Wanderers were still 2-0 down at Aston Villa after 80 minutes of play, but three goals completely turned the match around. It was the third win in a row and the upward trend was impressively confirmed.
All three goal scorers in the persons of Saiss, Neves and Coady in the last win scored for the first time this season and have gained a lot of self-confidence. For the clash at Elland Road in the Premier League on Matchday 9, betting on an away win is therefore advisable.
Brighton v Manchester City – 23 October, 18:30
The Seagulls are having a successful season so far and find themselves in unaccustomed high places in the table in fourth. For the guests, as third, the region is again familiar territory and no match has been lost in league play since the first matchday.
The defence in particular is solid: together with league leaders Chelsea, they have conceded the fewest goals. However, the home side also have a solid back line and in their league matches they score the fewest goals with an average of 1.6.
For the clash on the south coast in the Premier League on matchday 9, the odds on a maximum of two goals by the final whistle therefore seem lucrative. Only in one of Hove’s four home games has the limit been exceeded and this applies in reverse parallel to the same number of Citizens’ away games!
Brentford v Leicester – 24 October, 15:00
The Bees were unable to sting against Chelsea last Saturday. With 0:1 the London derby was lost. For the newcomer, however, a defeat against the top of the table is not a leg-break and with a place in the upper midfield, the season is going better than planned from Brentford’s point of view.
However, the Foxes have bounced back recently and won at home against the Red Devils. Once again Jamie Vardy scored, who is joint first in the goalscoring charts with Liverpool’s Mo Salah with seven goals already.
However, they also had an away game in Moscow in the Europa League earlier in the week, so the home side have a physical advantage.
For the match at the Brentford Community Stadium in the Premier League on matchday 9, there is enough value in the odds for both sides to score. Leicester are yet to pick up a clean sheet away from home in four games and the underdogs should benefit from the Foxes’ packed schedule as mentioned.
West Ham v Tottenham – Oct 24, 3pm
The Hammers picked up a 1-0 away win at Everton last Sunday. The Lilywhites also won their Sunday game at Newcastle and Harry Kane celebrated his long-awaited first goal of the season. The clubs are only one point apart in the table. An even match is therefore in the offing in the London derby.
For the clash at the Olympic Stadium in the capital in the Premier League on matchday 9, bets on a goal celebration on both sides seem promising. A course of play that has been observed in all four of the Hammers’ home games so far, and in parallel in the last two Spurs away games.
On top of that, goals were always scored on both sides in the two pre-season duels and in West Ham’s most recent three home games against their city rivals!
Manchester United v Liverpool – 24 October, 17:30
A run of 30 unbeaten Premier League outings came to an end for the Red Devils last weekend. The defeat to Leicester fitted into the picture of an unsettled team. They have not won for three rounds of matches.
In contrast, Jürgen Klopp’s team arrives in very good shape: Most recently, Watford were dismantled 5-0 and no team in the Premier League has more goals. The Reds are also the only unbeaten team in the Premier League!
In light of this, predictions of at least two goals by the visitors in the clash at Old Trafford come with value in the odds. For the past five rounds of matches, Liverpool have always struck at least twice and the visitors even boast an average of 3.2 goals of their own in this review.
On top of that, the home side’s defence does not look very solid at the moment: no clean sheet has been recorded for five matchdays and the most recent defeat against Leicester was a particularly heavy one with 2:4.
